Teaching
is an activity. It is way to teach people discipline, to teach students discipline.
Role of teacher: Teachers play vital roles in the lives of the students in their classrooms. Teachers are best known for the role of educating the students that
are placed in their care. Beyond that, teachers serve many other roles in the classroom. Teachers set the tone of their classrooms, build a warm environment,
mentor and nurture students, become role models, and listen and look for signs of trouble. In other words, the teacher helps to cultivate an environment that
is conducive to self-directed learning, and provides assistance for individuals and groups of learners.
Professional characteristics: Effective teachers appear again and again to display certain characteristics, while ineffective teachers tend to make the same
mistakes repeatedly. Below is a look at some of the things more effective teachers tend to do right and less effective teachers tend to do wrong.
The concepts of Teaching method: Why can’t everyone be taught the same way? Well, why can’t you learn something the same way as your partner or next
door neighbor? Everybody learns different ideas at different times at different paces. Some people can learn something on the first try after being told what
to do whereas others might need to have hands-on experience in order to learn and possibly repeat it a few times to really get the hang of things. Different
teaching styles are necessary because the students need to be able to learn what the teacher is teaching. However, the choice of teaching styles used can also
depend on the school mission statement, the classroom demographics, the educational philosophy of the teacher, and most importantly, the subject area.
A lesson plan is a teacher's detailed description of the course of instruction or "learning trajectory" for a lesson. A daily lesson plan is developed by a teacher
to guide class learning. Details will vary depending on the preference of the teacher, subject being covered, and the needs of the students.
The need / Effective for lp: A lesson plan is a lesson “project” written down on paper. It is only a “project” because a lot of unpredictable events occur in the
classroom. It is also a dreaded part of instruction that most teachers detest. It nevertheless provides a guide for managing the learning environment. As one
of the teacher’s roles is that of designer and implementer of instruction, the preparation of lesson plan will ensure the organization of the lesson according to
some criteria. Regardless of the format, all teachers need to make wise decisions about the strategies and methods they will employ to help students move
systematically toward learner goals. The more organized a teacher is, the more effective the teaching, and thus the learning, is. Writing daily lesson plans is a
large part of being organized.
Deductive method A deductive approach to instruction is a more teacher-centered approach. This means that the teacher gives the students a new concept,
explains it, and then has the students practice using the concept. Inductive method In contrast with the deductive method, inductive instruction makes use of
student “noticing”. Instead of explaining a given concept and following this explanation with examples, the teacher presents students with many examples
showing how the concept is used. The intent is for students to “notice”, by way of the examples, how the concept works. Scientific method Science is an
attitude basically. Its method cannot be defined on skill level. It is a step by step process which guides towards inquiry. Very often we say that we must research.
Problem solving is very useful learner centered teaching and learning strategy. Good teachers are those who help children to learn. Children learn a lot from
this method. PBL is designed primarily to help students develop their thinking, problem solving and intellectual skills and they actually learn through
autonomous learners opportunity. Activity method is a technique adopted by a teacher to emphasize his or her method of teaching through activity in which
the students participate rigorously and bring about efficient learning experiences. It is a child-centered approach. It is a method in which the child is actively
involved in participating mentally and physically. Learning by doing is the main focus in this method. Learning by doing is imperative in successful learning since
it is well proved that more the senses are stimulated, more a person learns and longer he/she retains. Research Project: Scientific method is often used in
research. In research, you actually raise some questions and try to answer those questions whose answers are not there. Teachers can ask the students to
conduct researches at very lower levels. The findings of those researches or the outcome may be used by other people. Discussion methods are a variety of
forums for open-ended, collaborative exchange of ideas among a teacher and students or among students for the purpose of furthering students thinking,
learning, problem solving, understanding, or literary appreciation. Participants present multiple points of view, respond to the ideas of others, and reflect on
their own ideas in an effort to build their knowledge, understanding, or interpretation of the matter at hand.
