Theme: “LIVE CHRIST... SHARE CHRIST... A CELEBRATION OF THE YEAR OF FAITH IN

LITURGY AND MUSIC”

Rationale

The Church celebrates 2012 – 2013 as the Year of Faith where series of activities are proposed
by our Archbishop for our Local Church in line with the celebrations also to be done in Rome. It
is in this connection that this proposed activity is conceptualized and given details as to its
dynamics hoping that this may add awareness to the celebration. This will also conjure up with
the April 13: concert entitled "Oh My Son" in Paul 6th Hall at the Vatican. The Archdiocese of
Ozamis, being the only local church in Mindanao having two pipe organs, the oldest in St. John
the Baptist Parish in Jimenez and the largest in Ozamiz Cathedral respectively, and with the
presence of gifted choral groups in almost all parishes, we are but graced enough to materialize
this said festival. The festival will feature Professional Organists and Chorale performing in
concierto classical Catholic sacred arias, to be followed by the Choral Competition of the
different parish choir groups of the Archdiocese only. This will also feature the history of the
Vatican II Council as we celebrate its 50th Anniversary and its impact in the history of the local
church of Ozamis, in audio-visual presentation.

The activity will conclude with the Mass and the awarding of prizes to deserving winners to be
followed by the mass singing of the Handel’s Alleluia by all the participants.

Objectives: at the end of the activity, participants are expected to have a

Doctrine: a catechetical formation on Liturgy and Music and on the importance of the Vatican II Council in the life
and dynamics of the local church
