Pollutions in the Philippines

Back at the day where Philippines is called The Pearl of the Orient Seas because of its
crystal-clear oceans and its freshening breeze. But now it’s nowhere to be found especially in the
city. Cities in the Philippines are stunning because of its sky-high skyscrapers and buildings. Cities
in manila like Makati is one of the most industrialized city in The Philippines where different
factories were located. Factories produce products that are useful to us but its drastic effects is
undeniably evident. But Filipinos never seem to care about the catastrophic pollutions circulating
in the lovely cities of Manila.
Pollution is one of an example of an environmental dilemmas not only to The Philippines
but in the world too. Environmental dilemmas are not easy to deal with so as pollution. There are
many kinds of pollution namely Air pollution, water pollution, noise pollution, soil pollution,
thermal pollution, radioactive pollution and light pollution. Whereas the first three mentioned
above are the most far-reaching problem in the Philippines. The Philippines economic status are
slowly growing because of the streamlined and modern factories producing products ready for
exporting in other countries. It is a good thing but it has an affiliated tragic consequences. For an
instance, burning fossil fuels to run factories, motorized vehicles and power plants are producing
huge amount of pollution every day. Motor vehicles and cars produces a high level of Carbon
monoxide and major source of hydrocarbons and Nitrogen which causes a harmful and poisonous
gases that can have a fatal effects to our body and to the world’s ozone layer. Certain greedy
industries are also contributing to this pollution by releasing some gases like sulphur dioxide and
carbon monoxide which mix with the air and clouds causes an alarming acid rain. Not only that
but industries also caused water pollution by dumping their chemical waste into these bodies of
water resulting to unclean water and death to some aquatic animals. Oil spills are also common
caused by large oil rigs in the ocean which blocks sunlight under the sea harming fishes which
people eat. People especially the Filipinos are also fond of the habit in dumping their wastes in
rivers which causes stinky smell and clogs the sewers causes floods. Moreover, many Filipinos are
owning cars which causes heavy traffic in manila. This results to loud honking horns which is not
pleasant to ears and can cause serious psychological effects to the lived people near the roads and
highways. Heavy machinery being operated in the open for example a jackhammer and other
mechanical tools can also contribute to this.
The growth of Filipino population and the technological progress have imprints on the
ecological stage of the Philippines. Great changes require a powerful hand to guide the Filipinos
to become a matured citizen. Serve the dreadful effects of this pollution as an eye-opener to have
a plan to resolve this issue by making an effort of the community. Our daily activities greatly
affects the environment around us. A little contribution by just being a modest and responsible
Filipino would be a great help and a great change to this aggravating problem. Don’t underestimate
the influence of little things because little things make a big difference.
