|TASK 1

The line chart presents the worth of Australia’s business in two-way trading relationship
with China, Japan and the US over a 5-year period starting in 2004.

Overall, the import of Australia with three nations witnessed an upward trend while its
export figure was subject to generally volatility.

As can be seen from the graph, the value of Australia’s import from Japan in 2004 was
almost 20 billion, and steadily jumped to 40 billion by 2008. However, there was a slight
decrease and finished the period with over 30 billion by 2009. Australian import of
goods from the USA accounted for 10 billion and remained a stable climb with slightly
acceleration until the end of period. In contrast, Australian import from China almost
quadrupled from the same level as the USA to around 40 billion over the span.

The worth of Australian export to Japan, in 2004, made up 10 billion and the figure was
about 13 billion followed by a growth pattern that more varied. The figure of the USA
was by far the highest in three partners and reached at 30 billion after a less significant
rise, while that of China grew from 20 billion to over 30 billion.
