About the Company: Overseas AST LLC is one of the longest established construction
companies in the UAE. With a head office in Dubai, we have offices in
Abu Dhabi and Sharjah and operate in the UAE and other Gulf countries.

AST was founded in Austria in 1898 by an engineer, Eduard Wilhelm Ast,

and grew to be one of Europe’s biggest contractors. The company
ventured overseas to Kuwait in 1954 and began operations in Dubai in
1959. The company’s first project in Dubai in 1959 was to develop the
Creek and build the Maktoum Bridge, just the first of numerous
landmark projects, which have since helped change the face of the UAE.
In 1983, two prominent UAE businesspersons, Khalifa Juma Al Nabooda
of Dubai and Abdulla Mohammed Al Mazrui of Abu Dhabi, acquired a
51% stake in the company. They bought the remainder in 2003.

Juma Al Nabooda Group and Al Mazrui Holding Company. Overseas AST

About the role: As an Engineer Trainee, you will report to various Engineering disciplines
within the AST cadre and provide assistance as necessary.

Responsibilities:  Become familiar with, and adopt AST operating procedures,

relevant to the apprenticeship discipline
 Report to ESTIMATION ENGINEER and liaise to gradually learn
the required skills. Assist in developing tenders, pricing and
developing construction methodology for both marine and civil
mechanical tenders
 Report to SITE ENGINEER and liaise to gradually learn the
required skills. Assist the Operations Team in initial site set up,
and assist in daily engineering tasks for the project
 Familiarization with AST plant, equipment and routine
construction methodology
 Report to PROJECT ENGINEER and become familiar with AST
adopted construction techniques and relevant marine/
mechanical structures. Assist in further development and
implementation of construction stage method statements as a
continuation of the adopted tender construction approach
 Report to DESIGN ENGINEER and learn basic design principles
and software. Assist Engineering department in temporary works
design
 Assist Engineering department in collation of a marine knowledge
and experience and lessons learned database
