A Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan in Science 7

Teacher Intern: Anna Jane A. Gayas

CTE: Mrs. Evelyn C. Javier

Grade 7 – Chrysoberyl 9:00am – 10:00am

Grade 7 – Beryl 1:00pm – 2:00pm

I. OJECTIVES
A. Content Standard
The learners demonstrate understanding of the different levels of
biological organizations.

B. Performance Standard
The learners are able to employ appropriate techniques using the
compound microscope to gather data about very small objects.
C. Learning Competency and Code
The learners are able to describe the different levels of biological
organization from cell to biosphere. [S7LT-IIc-3]

Given several activities, the Grade 7 students are expected to do the

following with at least 80% proficiency:

a. describe the function of each organ in an organ system;

b. describe the function of each organ system of the human or animal
body; and
c. recognize appropriate practices in making the organ systems and the
entire organism healthy.

IV. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing previous lesson
- Two students will have a short recap on the previous lesson discussed.

B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson

“Complete Me”
- Students will go to their respective group. Each group will be given 2
sets of incomplete words/phrases and they have to complete it by
writing the missing letters. Once they have already completed the
phrases, they have to post it at the station where their group number is
seen. The first group to finish the task with correct answers will get 10
points. Then, the remaining group will receive 5 points.

D_ _E_T_V_ S_S_E_
G2: _ _S_I_ _T_R_ S_S_E_

_ _E_ _T_L S_S_E_
G5: _E_ _O_U_T_ _E S_S_E_
E_D_CR_ _E S_S_E_
- Then, the students will be asked as to what they have observed or
noticed with the phrases posted at the stations.
C. Presenting examples/instances of the new lesson
- Using their previous assignment on organ system, a representative from
each group will be share to the class what organ system he/she has, and
what its parts are.

D. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #1

- The organs and their functions in an organ system will be discussed to the
class. Then, the students will have to infer the function of the particular
organ system given the functions of the organs present in that organ
system. The group to give the correct answer will receive 5 points.
E. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #2
- A video presentation will be shown to the class regarding proper lifestyles
and healthy practices to maintain the good functioning of the organ
systems. After which, the students will be asked if they are doing the same
things with those shown in the video in order to take good care of their
organ systems. They will have sharing of experiences and at the same time
citing other healthy practices that will keep their organ systems in good
condition.
F. Developing mastery
“Thought Bubble”
- Each group will be given a thought bubble and other materials where
they can use in writing their answer. They will write on the thought
bubble the organ or organ system being referred to by the teacher in
her question. The first group to raise their thought bubble with the
correct answer will receive 3 points.

G. Finding practical applications of concepts and skills in daily living

- Each group will be given a take-home task to be submitted next meeting.
They will conduct an interview with their relatives or friends who have
diagnosed with organ problems, such as heart disease, kidney problems.
They will ask them if how they are coping with the disease. Also, they will
ask what procedure their medical doctor did to correct the injury of their
organs. They will write information they have gathered from the interview
on a whole sheet of paper.
H. Making generalizations and abstractions about the lesson
- Call three students to summarize the lesson for the day.
I. Evaluating learning
- Each group will be assigned to a specific organ system for this quiz.
 Group 1 – Respiratory
 Group 2 – Nervous
 Group 3 – Circulatory
 Group 4 – Digestive
 Group 5 – Skeletal

I. Directions: Given the organ system assigned to your group, you have
to write the function of that organ system, the organs present in that
organ system together with their functions. [10 points]

II. Directions: Create a slogan as to how you will keep the organ system
assigned to you to healthy and free from diseases. [10 pts]
