Course Syllabus in Study and Thinking Skills
I. Course Code: Engl 1
II. Course Description: This course is designed to help improve the communication skills and language proficiency of college freshmen in English by acquiring adequate vocabulary and by
improving their reading, speaking and listening skills which are necessary for various academic. When need arises, basic grammar lessons are included to fit the communication situations.
Authentic texts are used to present different communication situations. Various strategies and activities are also provided to make students use the language more meaningful.

Credit Units : 3 units


Contact Hours : 1 ½ hour lecture once a week

The grading system is based on the following criteria:

Examinations (Prelim, Midterm, Final) = 40%
