Nephthys 287
The origin of the goddess Nephthys is unclear but the literal translation of her name is usually
given as “Lady of the House,” which has caused some to mistakenly identify her with the notion of
a “housewife,” or as the primary lady who ruled a domestic household. This is a pervasive error
repeated in many commentaries concerning this deity. Her name means quite specifically, “Lady of
the [Temple] Enclosure” which associates her with the role of priestess.
“Ascend and descend; descend with Nephthys, sink into darkness with the Night-bark. Ascend and
descend; ascend with Isis, rise with the Day-bark.”
Pyramid Text Utterance 222 line 210
Jessica Levai notes, ‘while Nephthys’s marriage to Set was a part of Egyptian mythology, it was
not a part of the myth of the murder and resurrection of Osiris. She was not paired with Set the
villain, but with Set’s other aspect, the benevolent figure who was the killer of Apophis. This was
the aspect of Set worshiped in the western oases during the Roman period, where he is depicted
with Nephthys as co-ruler.’
It is Nephthys who assists Isis in gathering and mourning the dismembered portions of the body of
Osiris, after his murder by the envious Set. Nephthys also serves as the nursemaid and watchful
guardian of the infant Horus. The Pyramid texts refer to Isis as the “birth-mother” and to Nephthys
as the “nursing-mother” of Horus. Nephthys was attested as one of the four “Great Chiefs” ruling
in the Osirian cult-center of Busiris, in the Delta.
Nephthys was also a beer Goddess and this may go somewhat to explaining her title of Lady of the
temple as beer was often drank at festivals and rituals. Nephthys is a goddess who gives the
Pharaoh power to see “that which is hidden by moonlight.” This fits well with more general textual
themes that consider Nephthys to be a goddess whose unique domain was darkness, or the
perilous edges of the desert. Nephthys was considered the unique protectress of the Sacred
Phoenix, or the Bennu Bird. This role may have stemmed from an early association in her native
Heliopolis, which was renowned for its “House of the Bennu” temple. In this role, Nephthys was
given the name “Nephthys-Kheresket,” and a wealth of temple texts from Edfu, Dendera, Philae,
Kom Ombo, El Qa’la, Esna, and others corroborate the late identification of Nephthys as the
supreme goddess of Upper Egyptian Nome VII, where another shrine existed in honor of
the Bennu.
the Bennu was a self-created being said to have played a role in the creation of the world. It was
said to be the ba (soul) of Ra and enabled the creative actions of Atum. It was said to have flown
over the waters of Nun that existed before creation, landing on a rock and issuing a call that
determined the nature of creation. It was also a symbol of rebirth and was therefore associated
with Osiris.

However there is much more to Kleopatra than this, Kleopatra was co ruler with her brother they
took opposing sides with Kleopatra taking the view that the best position was to form an alliance
with Rome and her brother believing they should fight for independence. This lead to Kleopatra
committing what some would consider as treason in order to gain control of the throne. However
her sister Asinoe almost killed Caesar and he had to swim for his life before returning to Egypt with
a larger army. Asinoe was chained and dragged to Rome where she was meant to be killed in
front of the Roman crowd for entertainment. This backfired and the crowd were enraged Caesar
then quietened the crowd by having her imprisoned in the temple of Artemis in Ephesis where she
could claim sanctuary and be safe from harm but could not leave. However after Caesars death
Kleopatra broke the sacredness of the sanctuary by asking Mark Anthony to drag her out of the
temple and have her murdered.
In short Kleopatra gives great strength and charisma where ever it is placed in the chart, however
it makes us blind to our faults and flaws which can lead us to breaking moral and legal codes and
laws in order to fulfill our own ambitions in life regardless of the effects on others.
In aspect to the sun it creates a strong, magnetic and dynamic if somewhat ruthless personality
capable of charming others.
In aspect to the moon it indicates a strong maternal influence from which the individual shares a
lot of character traits and perspectives.
In aspect to Venus the individual may be very charming but capable of manipulating others easily
and they may have many lessons in their life where they reap the unintended consequences of
such actions.
Read TARDIS a bit like a retrograde…it is a place where you and time
slow.
It is where you study and research the energies – learn how to work the
mysteries and direct them in innovative ways.
TARDIS is where there is more to the energies than it first
appears – like a retrograde, the energy is turned inward
(think Plutonic regeneration) until it is honed, sharpened into a unique
talent.
TARDIS is where you are cunning and clever, where you
manifest BRILLIANT escape routes from difficult situations.
TARDIS is where you defend and protect the universal welfare of others.
TARDIS is where slow, steady, study and inventive thinking
will metamorphose into your greatest genius talent – your escape hatch –
and your eventual rebirth.
The asteroid Hephaestus will signal forgiveness, craft, cunning and skill in your natal
chart. It is the place where you blaze a trail and rise to create your destiny – despite
rejection – despite emotional and physical difficulties.
Sag Mars loves the treasure hunt, the circus caravan, to run and run and run on
a wild merry chase of discovery.
Mars in Sagittarius needs freedom.
Mars in Sagittarius needs fire.
Mars in Sagittarius needs mental gymnastics.
In the natal chart, Mars represents fire, energy, desires, men,
husband, and the blade, the weapon.
Where is your Mars ?
What is your weapon ?
How do you wield it ?
Its energy is born of the internal fire – the spark of the soul – it replenishes and
regenerates by the laws of spirit and thermodynamics.
:::Neither matter nor energy can be created or destroyed, it only changes
form:::
Pluto in your natal indicates where you will metamorph again and again and again.
Something in your life has to die for something else to live.
Pluto is unavoidable, painful struggle- necessary for growth but not
without pain.
Ever.
Pluto renders you powerless in the face of oncoming change and death.
From the ashes you rise – forever changed – powerful, invincible, fearless.
You have nothing left to fear because your worst fears have already been
realized.
Asteroid Pomona can be found in your natal by going to Astrodienst and entering 32.
Neptune and Chiron are currently conjunct Pomona in Pisces. Find her in your natal
to see where your life will bear delicious fruits.
Odin stones have been worn for protection against ill omens, lightning strike, snake
venom and the evil eye. For an Odin to have power as an amulet, it cannot be
bought or sold – it must be found and freely given.
Odin stones were revered by Druids, and are steeped in mythology and legends
across the world. They are said to be windows into other worlds, living earth spirits.
When peering through the hole on a full moon, the world of faerie and spirits can be
seen. They represent the doorway between the physical and the spiritual, endowing
the wearer with high psychic powers.
Prometheus was a trickster titan, who with his brother, Epimetheus, was
given the task (by Zeus) of creating life on earth; both animal and
man. Epimetheus (whose name means afterthought) fashioned a
multitude of animals giving them qualities of strength, stamina and speed
accordingly.
Prometheus (whose name means forethought) fashioned man out of clay
only to realize his brother had used all the graces on animals, leaving him
no gifts to give mankind. Having affection for humans, he sided with them
against the gods, primarily Zeus. Prometheus stole a spark of fire and
gave this wondrous gift to man, enabling humans to keep warm, cook,
forge tools, be independent.
In a fit of rage, Zeus doomed Prometheus to eternal punishment by
chaining him to the Caucasus Mountains and sending a hawk to eat out
his liver each day (which in turn, regenerated each night). His
punishment ended when Hercules found him chained while searching the
ends of the earth for the tree of golden apples (the 11th of his 12 labors).
In exchange for the location of the tree, Hercules agreed to help him,
speaking to the gods on his behalf which led to the end of torment for
two. Chiron, the immortal centaur, teacher, herbalist carried a painful
wound (accidentally given by Hercules) which would not heal. Chiron
willingly exchanged places with Prometheus, which led to freedom for
both – Prometheus escaped; Chiron was relieved of his eternal suffering by
death.

Asteroid Prometheus 1809
Prometheus indicates both intellectual fire and forethought – very handy,
as a quick mind is nothing much without first a plan to direct and focus
the energy. This asteroid points to tricky maneuvers and yes, thieving
that which is cherished.
It has a bit of Robin Hood flavor, being that fire was taken from the haves
and given to the have nots. Prometheus in that (ahem) light can also
indicate where you rescue others by virtue of your gifts.
Asteroid Pandora 55
This asteroid is curiosity in spades – where you get a whammy curveball – you don’t
even see it coming. Pandora indicates where you think on your feet to deal
with unforeseen circumstances – it is a point of exploration into the unknown, where you
get more than you bargained for. Pandora is also a point of hope and faith that life will
work itself out for the best with the right altitude. Necessity is the mother of invention –
Pandora will lead you to your latent creative talents.
Our planets / placements are like family – “how do they get along ?” is a fair question.
I contemplated much the same in my last ‘popularity’ post. So I decided to let the cosmos
speak through divination.
Asteroid Pythia 432 – This asteroid (discovered 12.18.1897) has a 5 planet Sagittarius
stellium of late degrees Sun, Mars, Venus conjunct with early degrees Saturn conjunct
Uranus opposing Pluto, Pythia and Neptune conjunct in Gemini all Rx.
Long distance communication, moral codes and higher philosophy is most
definitely the name of the game with this asteroid.
Asteroid Apollo 1862 – This asteroid (discovered 4.24.1932) has an Aries stellium of
Mercury, Mars and Uranus as well as a T-Square: Taurus Sun focal planet square Leo
Jupiter opposite Aquarius Saturn. Solid creative exuberance lead by an impulsive
child-like curiosity. Cancer Pluto squares all that Aries, while Jupiter trines it – explosive
impulses lead the way to whammy emotional transformation – via women, the
public, the masses; Jupiter has faith enough to try again.
Look to asteroid Pompeii to see how you deal with completely unexpected circumstances
that blow your mind and your world inside out.
I guarantee you having Pompeii on Uranus is a wild ride.
Themis, the daughter of Gaia and Ouranus, is the oracular voice of the
Earth.
She is the goddess of Divine Law and Justice – a seer who presided over
the most ancient oracles, including the Delphic oracle. She is usually
pictured blindfolded to represent her impartiality. Themis judged whether
the dead went to Tartarus (hell) or the Elysian Fields (paradise).
Themis is asteroid 24, discovered 1853
Look to your natal Themis to see where you embody divine law, justice
and impartiality. She may seem cold, (science says she is covered with
ice) unemotional, but she is in fact – LOGICAL and FAIR.
Forneus teaches the knowledge and understanding of languages and tongues, the art of
rhetoric. Being a worthy and honest opponent leads to a good reputation, makes one
beloved by foes as well as friends.
His totem beast is a sea monster, signifying deep knowledge and understanding of the
subconscious, including the shadow side – the faults we prefer to disregard, but which trip us
up when ignored.
Achilles, the demigod (half god, half human), son of Nereid (sea nymph)
Thesis, and Peleus, the king of Myrmidons – was the greatest warrior of
the army of Agamemnon in the Trojan War. Achilles is most known for
the Battle of Troy, where he slayed Hector, the eldest son of Kim Priam
of Troy.
The demigod was defeated by Hector’s brother, Paris, when an
arrow guided by the Sun God Apollo impaled Achilles in his only
weak spot – his heel.
When a child, Achilles’ mother, Thetis, dipped him in the waters of the River Styx, by
which he became invulnerable, except for the part of his heel by
which she held him – the proverbial “Achilles’ heel.”
The Achilles tendon connects the calf muscles to the heel bone – together
these muscles produce a foot action that is basic to walking, running, and
jumping.
The Achilles tendon is the thickest and most powerful tendon in
the body.
If the tendon is cut, use of the leg for running or jumping is lost.
This I have discovered, is where I have more, extra special, Saturn
(satan?!) growth. My pixies are pitching sands and pebbles instead of
fairy dust & glitter. haa Saturn Rx transit on natal Neptune in 11th
(natural house of Aquarius – ankles) and I can barely walk by the end of
the day due to bone spurs jangling my tendon as I walk, so I looked up the
astro.
Asteroids Erda and Gaea obviously represent your connection with the
Earth.
They indicate in which ways you are practical, skilled, also slowed.
They show how and where you ground yourself.
In synastry, they show how and where others ground you.
Check out asteroid Sphinx 896. The Sphinx is a keeper of secrets, a guardian with the
body of a lion, the wings of a griffon (in Asia), and the face of a human. The Sphinx posed
riddles to travelers on the road to Thebes, if they answered wrong, she devoured them.
Sphinx in your chart is where you must face challenges, where you guard yourself, your life.
Sphinx is also where you guard secrets, mysteries and knowledge which will only be
revealed as the time is right. Those of you familiar with Edgar Cayce know the Hall
of Records is reportedly buried under the paw. More here.
Ancestor wisdom, long term growth both above and below as it relates to
the yang or outgoing masculine energies of the world.
Sirens represent temptation – spot on for the Neptunian waters
squaring the solar principle in Gemini. She waits for an equitable
exchange of energy – of action – a balance of the number two inherent in
this card of dualities.
Patriarchal society has been held sway by Venus for centuries.
The wrong side of Venus – the love of money.
Jupiter is Expansion.
Saturn is Restriction.
Jupiter is faith, trust, enthusiastic exploration into understanding
the whole world.
Saturn is discipline, limitation, sharp concentration on success via
excellent work.
Asteroid Concordia 58
Desire for peace and harmony
Ceres (Roman for Demeter, also the root word of cereal) the
Goddess of Grain was the Great Earth Mother of Persephone.
When Hades abducted Persephone to the underworld, Ceres searched the
world, grieving for her lost daughter. Ceres failed to nurture the grain and
crops withered and died. While Ceres grieved, the world fell into hunger
until Zeus intervened, ordering Hades to return Persephone.
Hades did so, but first tricked Persephone into eating a bite of mystical
pomegranate, which meant she was forced to return to the underworld for
a portion of each year. It is in these months that winter blankets the world
and foliage goes dormant.
Interestingly, Ceres is traditionally connected with Henna, Sicily which at
931m above sea level, is the highest Italian province capital. It has
earned the nicknames “belvedere” (panoramic viewpoint) and “ombelico”
(navel) of Sicily. It is said to be the site of Persephone’s abduction to the
underworld and the site of Ceres’ most ancient Sanctuary. (wiki)
Highest point to search from, navel of Sicily – sounds like a searching
mother to me..!
Ceres in the natal chart indicates loss, grief, searching, and wrath – but
Ceres also indicates joy, transformation, rebirth and the return
of something lost. Ceres is a place of interaction with the earth – where
you can ground your wayward energies and nurture yourself. Ceres is
where you are both mother and mothered, it is where you nurture, and
also where your growth is nurtured by others.
One of the most prominent women in Roman history, Octavia was
respected and admired for her loyalty, nobility and humanity, and for
maintaining traditional Roman feminine virtues. (wiki)
Octavia means eight: purpose, control, strength and power in regeneration.
Second, about time: I experience space and time between me, you and
everything in the known and unknown universe then, now, whenever and
wherever as in flux, alive and breathing, energetically in flow and
exchanging.
Time is fluid – past, present and future are occurring simultaneously, in
unison. What is happening now will change the past and future.
Historically, humans thought the earth was flat.
Historically humans thought time only flowed in one direction.
Time is, for lack of better words, timey- whimey.
:::::::::::::::::::::
Astrologers study the wheel of life, the cycles of life – or the breathing of
time – if you will. The cycles and macro planetary influences as they
circle into, and out of, our personal micro spheres, our physical realm, our
universe comprised of flesh, bone, brain, cells and vessels. Time breathes
with us. Time is cyclic.
:::::::::::::::::::::
For most of traditional humanity, linear history is profane, and sacredness
lies in cyclictime. The Sacred cannot be found in the mythical age; it
exists outside all ages. Thus, human fulfilment does not lie in returning to
a sacred time, but in escaping from time altogether, in “a transcendence
of the cosmos.” {snip} The philosophical concept of eternal return {is
born as} an endless cosmic cycle, with no beginning and, thus, no
inherently sacred time. source
