electric shock hazard. Never touch any part of this product when AC power is
connected!
Always consult experienced electrician for checking power supply installation safety.
Before installing or using SPS product, make sure you have read and understood completely
this document and third party document referenced in the chapter 4.
Granite Devices or its personnel will not carry any consequences or give any warranty if
safety aspects are overlooked.

2. Introduction
SPS series power supplies are optimized for high peak power loads
which ideally match typical position control servo/stepper
applications. SPS is capable of delivering up to 3x peak power
compared to average output power level without overheating or
causing significant voltage drop.
SPS reduces cost and increases efficiency and reliability by skipping
voltage regulation which is unnecessary for VSD motor drives.
In addition to this document, user must read also documentation
referenced in chapter 4.

Key specifications
• Input voltage 115 or 230 VAC

• Nominal output voltage 126 VDC ± 10%

• Peak output power 650W @ 230VAC input

• Continuous power 210W without active cooling

• Can be paralleled to increase output power

• Small form factor & lightweight

• Low EMI

Applications
• Power for servo and stepper motors

• Position controlled machines

• Up to 300W continuous rated motor per SPS

4. Original part documentation

SPS-600-126 package is based on third party power supply made by Hypex electronics. The power supply card is
Hypex SMPS400A400. Before installing the product, read also SMPS400A400 manual from:
http://granitedevices.fi/assets/files/SMPS400_Datasheet_R6.pdf
Note: The SMPS400A400 has been originally designed for audio amplifier applications. The purpose of this
documentation is to describe how to apply it in servo amplifier application.

5. Electrical installation of SPS-600-126

5.1 Placement of E-STOP switch/contactor

If a circuit breaker (such as E-STOP switch or relay) is placed in the system, it must be placed in the AC input lines
(marked as L and N in the wiring diagram).
Warning: never connect a circuit breaker to DC output of SPS.

6. Drive configuration
To allow power supply voltage rise before drive starts controlling motor, it's necessary to set proper voltage limit
values in GDtool configuration software. Suggested voltage limit values for SPS-600-126 are presented in the figure
below.

7. Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do I need to connect regenerative resistor?
You may try drives & machine without regenerative resistors since VSD drives will protect them selves from
regenerative over voltage. If you get over voltage faults during deceleration, then install regenerative resistor
to at least one drive in HV DC bus.
