Decimals Syopsis 1. The decimal system helps to place fractions in the place value chart. 2. The place value of a digit decreases by one-tenth as the digit moves by one place from left to right. 3. To find place for fractions in the place value chart, the chart has to be ex- tended to the right of the units place if'a fraction is less than 1 4, A decimal number has two parts, a whole number part and a decimal number part with a dot or a decimal point, in between, separating them. 5.
