Dear Asia Pacific Region Member Organizations:

The Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP) extends a warm invitation


to your Association to its 39th National Encampment 2016.

THEME : “Pamaskong Handog sa Inang Kalikasan”


(“Christmas Gifts for Mother Earth”)
DATE : December 1-6, 2016 (Thursday to Tuesday)
VENUE : GSP Josefa Llanes Escoda National Program and Training Center
Palayan City, Nueva Ecija, Philippines
The campsite/center is 2 hours (100 km) from Clark International Airport,
Pampanga via Northern Luzon West Expressway/Subic Clark-Tarlac Expressway,
and 4 hours (200 km) from Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Manila.
EXPECTED : 1,000 Girl Scouts (aged 15-16 years) from 97 GSP Councils
PARTICIPANTS: 100 Overseas Girl Scouts/Girl Guides from Member Organizations of
WAGGGS Asia Pacific Region (at least 1 Patrol - 8 Girl Scouts aged
15-16 years per MO
CAMP FEE : US $300.00 per camper
Camp fee includes:
1) transportation from Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Manila or Clark
International Airport, Pampanga going to the camp site and back; and
during the offsite activities
2) food (6-Day meals from December 1 to 6)
Campers will prepare/cook their own food
3) accommodation at the camp site (campers will sleep in tents)
4) program materials
5) camp souvenirs such as t-shirt, bag, scarf, patch/badge, camper’s guide,
ID card
6) certificate
Payment of the camp fee should be sent according to the number of your
participants to the GSP Bank Account with the following details on or before
October 30, 2016.

QUALIFICATIONS OF PARTICIPANTS:
1. Must be a registered Girl Scout/Girl Guide (aged 15 to 16 years) as of December 2016.
2. Must be physically fit and alert.
3. Must have earned badges.
4. Must have attended camp activities.

THINGS TO BRING:
These should be brought by the individual camper and packed in a duffle bag and a
backpack/knapsack provided with luggage tags. Campers are encouraged to travel light; and
bring only what are needed.

Note:
Cooking utensils and charcoals will be made available for sale inside the camp.
Each patrol will be provided with charcoal stove, patrol tent, fly tent and bamboos for
the gadgets.

Each patrol is required to bring a shoebox containing reading books, crayons, notebooks,
toys, etc. accompanied by a short note/letter for the beneficiaries of the outreach
program during the camp. They are also requested to bring recycled materials to be
used for the lantern making as part of the arts and crafts activity.

WEATHER :

Climatic conditions in the province show a distinct wet and dry season and fairly uniform
temperature. The months of January to April are generally dry, and the rainy season occurs
from May to December. Rainfall is usually intense from May to October, the heaviest rainfall
being in August. Annual rainfall over the province is about 2,000 mm.

Average monthly temperature ranges from a maximum of 32 degrees Celsius to a minimum of


21 degrees Celsius. Annual mean temperature is 27 degrees Celsius. Data indicate that the
coolest months are from December to February while the warmest is May.

CHAPERONE (ADULT LEADER):

All chaperones of the campers must be Girl Guide/Girl Scout Adult Leaders.

They are required to attend the National Troop Leaders’ Forum on December 2 to 4 at the
Sierra Madre Suites/Hotel (5-minute away from the camp site) to maximize their time during
the encampment. On December 1, 5 and 6, they will sleep in the tent at the campsite together
with their girls.

Event fee is US $350.00 per Adult Leader.

Other details of the encampment and forum will be announced in the succeeding circular.

Enclosed are the application, health examination and parent’s consent forms for your
reference/action. We expect to receive at the GSP National Headquarters, the names of your
participants together with the duly accomplished forms on or before October 30, 2016.
A reply in principle will be appreciated on or before September 30, 2016.
