The project involves the construction of olefin and methanol complex with a capacity for 1MTPA ethylene and 1.65MTPA
methanol in Asaluyeh, Busher Province, Iran.
The US$1,000 million project includes the following:
1. Construction of processing units
2. Construction of storage facilities
3. Construction of a transfer line exchanger

7. Description

National Petrochemical Company (NPC) is undertaking the construction of olefin and methanol complex in Asaluyeh,
Iran.

Bushehr Petrochemical Company (BPC), a subsidiary of National Petrochemical Company is the implementing
authority for the project.

The project involves the construction of olefin and methanol complex with a capacity of one million tonnes per annum
(MTPA) ethylene and 1.65MTPA methanol. The project is being implemented in two phases.

The first phase involves the construction of methanol plant, whereas the second phase involves the addition of olefin
plant.

It includes the construction of processing units, storage facilities, a transfer line exchanger and a gas compressor and
the installation of steam cracker, quench tower and chilling train.

Beijing Huafu Engineering Co., Ltd. (HFEC), Energy Industries Engineering & Design (EIED), Petrochemical Industries
Design and Engineering Company (PIDEC) Inc and IPIP SA has been appointed to undertake construction engineering
and procurement engineering services and ThinkXpert Co. for the management consultancy services (MC).

In May 2012, Tehran-based Nargan Engineers & Constructors was awarded a engineering, procurement and
construction (EPC) contract for 1MTPA ethylene plant.

In June 2016, 65% of works on first phase were completed and will be operational by March 20, 2017.

The 16th olefins and methanol complex is being built as part of phase two of the Pars SEZ at Asaluyeh, Busher
Province.

The main aim of the project is to increase the olefin and methanol production capacity of National Petrochemical
Company (NPC) in Iran.
