These are the customer release notes for the current released
Lexmark X46x laser printer firmware, which consists of the
following revisions:

Printer Revision: LR.BS.P631
Engine Revision: AR.BS.E201

Functional Enhancements
1) Added the necessary firmware support to use the Fax-over-IP eSF app. (NOTE:
the FoIP eSF app is only available via SPR.)

Field Issues and Fixes


1) Added Airprint enhancements.
2) Made various security improvements.
3) Addressed an issue which could lead to inadvertent "Install MICR Cartridge"
messages on the op panel.
4) Addressed an issue that could lead to a 900.00 Firmware Error.
5) Addressed a condition that could lead to an incorrect SNMP deviceInstallDate
value in the deviceTable.
6) Removed the copyright message from the MFP touch screens at bootup.

Functional Enhancements

2) Added support in the Lexmark Enterprise MIB for the following SNMP tables
(for the device, inventory, and alerts OIDs): deviceTable, hwInventoryTable,
supplyInventoryTable, swInventoryTable, and deviceAlertTable
3) Added remote Out-of-Service Wipe capabilities.
4) Enhanced the history log header information.
5) Self-signed certificates now meet PCI-DSS requirements.
6) Enabled support for TLS encrypted Thinprint data.
7) Enhanced Unicode font support for multi-national language usage.
8) Made interface changes to allow MVE to access and configure the DDNS Refresh
Time & DDNS Time to Live.
9) Enhanced the PKI Apps audit logging.
10) Added support for an IO Expander ISP card that can be installed in a
printer/MFP and interface to a coin box.
11) Added Port 465 support to allow Scan to Network to work properly on
Bellsouth.net.

Field Issues and Fixes


1) Addressed a PCL datastream issue that was resulting in incorrect output.
2) Addressed several emulator issues that led to problems printing some PDF
jobs.
3) Fixed Postscript emulator issues that were leading to incorrect output.
4) Made XPS emulator changes to allow Confidential Job PIN numbers with leading
zeros.
5) Made changes to improve print performance for certain print jobs.
6) Addressed an issue that was leading to 900.32 firmware errors.
7) Addressed some issues that could lead to 900.00 firmware errors.
8) Addressed some issues that could lead to 900.43 firmware errors.
9) Fixed an issue that could lead to a firmware error when using Windows 8.

31) Fixed an issue where the Driver to Fax Alternate Station Name was not
replacing the Station Name in the transmission log header.
32) Addressed an issue in which copying to letterhead under certain conditions
could lead to the output printing upside down.
33) Fixed an issue that prevented an address book search from connecting to a
Win2008 server using SSL or TLS.
34) Fixed an issue where a blank touchscreen could occur during Power-ON on MFPs
(until the user touches the touchscreen or the device reaches the "Ready" state).
35) Fixed CVE-2011-3269.
36) Made improvements to the Polish keyboard on the touchscreen.

Other PE Field Issues


1) Fixed an issue (that exists only in the P510 release) in which a 900.30 error
could occur if the "MyMFP" eSF
application is installed and running and the user then inserts or removes a
thumb drive under certain conditions.

Functional Enhancements
1) Added firmware support for eSF applications related to tracking quotas
2) Added firmware support for external 4-wire solutions via ISP
3) Added advanced compression algorithm to decrease size of PDFs created by
scan-to-pdf function
4) Changed the user configurable DDNS TTL to be in effect all the time, rather
than only when there is a static IP
5) Added option to X46x to enable/disable audio feedback on touchscreen button
presses

eSF Framework
1) Made eSF framework changes required to support newly announced Lexmark
Solutions Platform
2) Made miscellaneous improvements to firmware framework for eSF apps

2) Fixed PDF emulator issues that could lead to diverse PDF errors
3) Fixed various other minor PDF issues
4) Fixed an issue where printing large universal jobs at 1200 DPI could lead to
a 900 error
5) Addressed some minor XL/PCL issues
6) Fixed some issues that could lead to 900.57 errors

8) Fixed an isolated issue where a margin shift could occur in GL2

Fax Issues
1) Fixed an issue related to fax forwarding with JBIG2 compression
2) Format Fax Partition function enhanced to format inactive storage location
(in addition to current active location)
3) Fixed an issue where using fax shortcuts with MFPUsage app installed could
lead to random 900.30 errors
4) Fixed a fax-forward-to-email issue that could lead to a 900.00 error

printing via LPR/LPD

network MTU set by the DHCP server.
2) Device webpage now has a "Follow LDAP Referrals" checkbox.
3) Security related UCF keys can now be imported/exported from the
embedded web server.
4) Various enhancements for Common Criteria certification.
5) Fixed possible crash and IPSEC issues when doing a scan to emails.
6) Corrected PDF error with JPEG2000 compression where colors were
incorrect.
7) Fax forwarding fix where eSF was not getting the forwarded fax data.
8) Addressed a fax answering hang related to call waiting .
9) Address book searches no longer fail when the network doesn't
support reverse IP lookup.
10) Fixed PDF TYPECHECK error caused by compression in some
web-optimized PDFs.
11) Fixed an issue caused by an improper HTTP GET request (CVE-2010-0101).
12) Passive FTP connections now time-out after 90 seconds in order to
avoid a potential Denial of Service (CVE-2010-0618).
13) Resolved NULL-pointer dereference in OpenSSL (CVE-2004-0079).
14) Resolved some PJL buffer overrun issues (CVE-2010-0619).
15) Addressed an issue where a 900.31 failure could occur rarely when
updating firmware.

LR.BS.P224a (Network N368)

1) Improvements in copy shortcut functionality

3) Addressed an issue that could cause power saver timer to fail.
4) Improved scan support for mixed sizes.
5) Added eSF Support for several new card readers attached to
rear port.
6) Improved UCF functionality for security configuration changes.
7) Fixed issue related to multiple "more info" messages while posting
an intervention required message.
8) Addressed an issue related to idle screen hangs when using eSF apps.
9) Improved LDAP search speed.
10) Corrected some hard disk issues related to hangs and temporary
reporting of "61 Defective Disk".

LR.BS.P131 (Network N311c)

1) Fixed a problem that could cause issues trying to print to the


printer from another subnet.
2) Fixed 900.41 error that occurred when canceling an IPDS duplex job.
3) Fixed address book searching to properly use user the credentials
for the address book.
4) Addressed some issues related to touch screen hangs.
5) New support for up to 25 Parked Jobs.
6) Added some EWS features related to disk wiping and supply alarm
controls.
7) Now correctly Base64 encode the e-mail attachment filename if it
contains UTF-8 characters.
8) Scan quality improvements.
9) Various translation fixes and updates.
10) Improved security functionality.
11) Improved Kerberos and LDAP functionality. LDAP + GSSAPI will now
use the 'default' realm if none is provided.
12) Fixed a problem related to 902.80 errors.
13) Addressed an issue where the manual fax shortcut was not working
properly.
