Windows 2008R2.
Now do domain controllers replicate via DFS-R? Have I to make some operation to get all replication
works via DFS-R?

5/16/2018 FRS and DFSR replication

Hi,
Domain controllers use a special shared folder named SYSVOL to replicate logon scripts and Group
Policy object files to other domain controllers. Windows 2000 Server and Windows Server 2003 use
File Replication Service (FRS) to replicate SYSVOL, whereas Windows Server 2008 uses the newer DFS
0 Replication service when in domains that use the Windows Server 2008 domain functional level, and
Sign in FRS for domains that run older domain functional levels.
to vote
To use DFS Replication to replicate the SYSVOL folder, you can either create a new domain that uses
the Windows Server 2008 domain functional level, or you can use the procedure that is discussed in
this document to upgrade an existing domain and migrate replication to DFS Replication.
There are many helpful articles for you to refer to to migrate sysvol replication form FSR to DFSR.
Please refer to the below link to find a article you want to follow:

I dont think it will get swithed to DFS-R automatically.

You need to carry out Migration process from FRS to DFS-R
Below is the link which you can refer to achieve this

Hello,
after upgrading the OS from older versions DFS-R for sysvol replication must be enabled manually.

Hi Meinolf,
I've not made an upgrade in place, I've simply deployed new domain controllers with Windows
2008R2, migrated FSMO roles and demoted the old Windows 2003R2 servers.
Have I to make manual migration?

How can I verify if I need to make manual migration?

Hello,
doesn't matter if in-place or not, ONLY a complete fresh installed domain with Windows server 2008
R2 functional level is using DFS-R for sysvol replication. The command "dfsrmig /GetGlobalState" will
show you the current state. See the mentioned article about all states.

I agree with Meinolf, by introducing windows 2008 DC & then removing last windows 2003 DC
doesn't automatically migrated Sysvol to DFSR where as if you configure your first DC from windows
2008, DFSR will be default.
The cmd dfsrmig /GetGlobalState & dfsrmig /getMigrationState is used to fetch the current state
0 of the migration whether it is ready for migration to DFSR or not.

Hello,
have you read the articles? Seems not, this is the beginning if FRS is used and you can start the
migration to DFS-R.

After raising function level to 2008 R2 you must run dfsrmig /setglobalstate 1,2,3
but follow the correct instructions
70-640 Training Kit page 553 chapter summary
Although the AD Server 2008 Resource Kit page 106 - states upgrading the function level to Windows
0
Server 2008  "DFSR is used to replicate the contents of the sysvol folder."  I raised my two servers to

to vote 2008 R2 and had to run the dfsrmig to get to use DFSR rather than FSR
