FAQ - eIPO

(i) Indian Postal Order can be purchased online in electronic form termed as
‘electronic Indian Postal Order (eIPO)’

(ii) eIPOs can be purchased in the denominations of Rs. 10/-, Rs. 20/-, Rs. 50/- &
Rs. 100/- for all purposes like fee submission for seeking information under
RTI Act, 2005, fee payment to educational institutions, fee submitted Court,
online registration for Cable Operators etc.

(iii) The applicant will have to get himself/herself registered at ePost Office portal of
India Post i.e. https://www.epostoffice.gov.in or though India Post web site
www.indiapost.gov.in (where a link for ePost office has been provided) to
avail this facility. Email ID, mobile number, address, date of birth and gender
etc. will be captured at the time of registration.

(iv) For the process of registration as at (iii) above, email id and mobile number are
mandatory. The codes for verification would be sent by the system on email id
as well as on mobile number provided while registering.

(v) The applicant has to select the Organization/ Private Institutions to which he/she
desires to remit the money.

(vi) If the Organization/ Private Institution customer willing to remit the money, is not
listed in the online application, the concerned organization/ private institution
will have to send a request on email ID po@indiapost.gov.in to list it in the
online application. It will be listed within 48 to 72 hrs.

(vii) Payment for purchase of IPO can be made using Debit or Credit Card of any
Bank powered by VISA/Master, or through Net Banking. Customer should
ensure that all the entries are filled correctly, before making payment.

(viii) After payment, transaction would be completed successfully. Now, eIPO will
be visible on the screen, which can be printed out in desired format. Unique
eIPO number & unique transaction number for each transaction would be
generated by the system.

(ix) A printout of the eIPO will be generated and customer can send it to the
institution / organization he/she want to remit money, either electronically or
physically, as desired.
(x) This printed eIPO can be presented in any Head Post Office by the Organization/
Institutions for encashment.

(xi) After verifying the eIPO number, transaction number, amount etc.,payment will
be made to the customer.
