NEW ORDERS
FLSmidth supplies engineering, equipment

top orders placed since April 2017.

Due to the CCX's improved heat transfer efficiency, it is often possible to reduce
the number of cyclones, resulting in lower structural and installation expenses.

opportunities for major cement manufacturers, many of whom
are importing clinker to meet production demands, the rising

vertical roller mill (VRM) as a highly productive solution to meet
these increasing demands.
With VRMs already 30 to 50 percent more energy-efficient

efficiencies. It uses around five-ten percent less power than
other cement VRMs, which means producers can save millions
of kilowatts each year.

In 2016 and 2017, a total of 21 VRMs were sold in South Asia

How FLSmidth ReportLoq works
The ReportLoq system is a web-based reporting system that
enables cement plant operators and environmental coordina-
tors to measure, collect and report emissions data. It measures
data every ten seconds and stores the values for a minimum
five years as required by the environmental authorities. It also
provides a comprehensive report via email.
The data is stored on an onsite controller and server that
collects all environmental data from the analysis equipment as
raw values. These values are then transferred to the secure
FLSmidth data centre, which also ensures automatic backup
and eliminates the need for operating and maintaining local
server solutions. The onsite server can store up to six months
of data and for extra security, the controller stores data for up to
30 days.

SALT INSPIRED

If bike lanes and roads can be better navigated when salt is

evenly distributed, why couldn’t cement cyclone processing?

Driving along an icy road in the dead of winter can be a pretty

harrowing experience. Of course, it helps if state agencies
responsible for road safety lay down a nice, even layer of road
salt. Salt, a natural counter-force to snowy, slushy roads, when
applied correctly, gets us all home safer and a bit more at ease.

One snowy winter evening, three FLSmidth engineers had been

grappling with heat exchange and meal distribution issues in traditional
cement cyclones, particularly the challenge of getting raw meal to
distribute evenly throughout the cyclone. One of them noticed an
even layer of salt being spread on the road on his way home. Could
the same type of ingenuity be applied to a cement cyclone?

Suppose we could develop and implement some sort of

carrier technology that could evenly distribute raw meal?

Voila! The new raw meal spreader in the Counter

Current Cyclone (CCX) was born.

Being stuck behind a salt spreader may not be the most

desirable place to be, but for these engineers, it did
provide a much-needed boost of inspiration.
