Many events will be held for international students coming to Aachen.

These events are organised by various institutions and will address different
academic, administrative, and, of course, social aspects of studying at RWTH!

Health Insurance Sign-Up
Mandatory Health Insurance

• A health insurance is compulsory for enrolment at
the RWTH Aachen University.
• You need to present proof of health insurance

coverage as part of your enrolment documents.
• As a service, we provide you with the opportunity to

sign up for public health insurance (or apply for an
exemption) with our partner ‘Techniker
Krankenkasse (TK)’.
• Health insurance sign-up takes place during your

programme’s Welcome Meeting

PSE + CAME
• Intensive phase in September
(5 September - 30 September 2016)
• Students with previous German knowledge must do

a placement test and can start the intensive phase
with A2.1 or B1.1 according to their results.
Important Note for Late-Arrivals:
If you arrive late in Aachen due to visa delay, please note that we only offer beginner’s
courses in September.
You can only start in October if you have achieved at least a level of A2.1 in the results of
the Language Center’s placement test.
We therefore highly recommend that you make arrangements to arrive in time to begin in
September unless you are absolutely certain that you will have level A2.1.

MME-CAME + MME-PS
• A1.1 Intensive phase in September
(6 September - 23 September 2016)
• If you hold an A1 Goethe certificate, please arrive in

late September as a late-arriver.
• Acknowledgment of your A1 certificate will be done

in November.
Important Note for Late-Arrivals:
If you do not have an A1 certificate and arrive later than for the
start of the intensive phase in September, you can start an A1.1
course in October as part of the regular semester programme.
These semester courses come with a fee and must be paid by
yourself.

Online Registration:
All levels must register before taking part in an intensive German language
course during the month of September!

2. Click on the appropriate link, depending on whether you have previous

knowledge of German or not.
3. Fill out the registration form. Be sure to provide information in all obligatory
fields.
4. CAME + PSE Students must register by 1 July.

MME-CAME + MME-PS Students must register between 1 July - 15 Aug.
Check your

German Language Course Exemption / Waiver

If you hold a German language certificate that is of equal or higher value
than your programme requires, you do not need to do a placement test or
participate in a German language course.
The following students will be eligible for an exemption from the intensive phase:
CAME + PSE: Holder of a B1 Goethe German Language certificate

MME-PS + MME-CAME: Holder of an A1 Goethe German Language certificate
Students who choose this option have to make an appointment with the RWTH
Language Center in order to have their certificate approved.
Please note that no certificates can be approved in September or October 2016.
Appointments begin in November 2016 at the earliest.
