Personnel Management

The basic purpose of the personnel function is to organize and motivate the entire staff of an enterprise
toward maximum productive efficiency.

From the standpoint of society, the purpose of modern enterprise is to provide goods and services at
the time and at the place where they can be enjoyed by the members of society.

Personnel management therefore seeks to inspire the staff to work efficiently and loyally so that the
enterprise may succeed.

The modern personnel function is essentially sound business policy and administration.

The most important personnel management functions may be classified into four groups :

1. Securing, selecting, allocating, and training personnel or manpower.


2. Supervising remuneration and working conditions in order to maintain and effectively utilize
personnel after they have been engaged.
3. Providing various services and benefits to workers, seeking thereby to encourage self-
improvement, increased efficiency, job satisfaction, and employment stability.
4. Maintaining personnel records and personnel research.
