Q.1 In Unit 1, Section A of your textbook; you have learnt how to form WH
questions. Complete the following sentences with appropriate wh words.

words/phrases by finding clues within the text. Read the following passage and

many people got hurt.

Q.5 The present perfect tense tells us about both the past and the present as you have

Recently, it has snowed in Maria's town. In the last week, it has snowed three
times. Maria has always loved the snow. She has played in the snow many times
before.
Maria's dog, Sparky, has never played in the snow. This is Sparky's first snow.
He has not felt the cold yet.
Maria has just received a new sled for her birthday. She puts on her warm
clothes and snow boots. She pulls the sled up the hill. Sparky has run outside
with Maria. Sparky has followed Maria up the hill. He feels good!
Maria has finally reached the top. She sits on her sled. She rides down the hill.
Sparky runs beside the sled. They have finally reached the bottom. Sparky has
followed Maria all the way down the hill. Sparky has decided that he likes the
snow too!

Q.6 Write an informal/personal letter to your friend wishing him/her luck for his/her job
interview and giving him/her some suggestions. Follow the guidelines given in
Unit 2, Section D of your textbook. (20)

Q.7 In Unit 3, Section A of your text book, you have learnt how to agree or disagree
with something/someone. Express your agreement as well as disagreement on the
following issues (Write two sentences for each situation). Choose a different
expression each time. Follow the example. (10)

Two businessmen, Shah and Ahmed, are at a lunch meeting. They are waiting for
their co-worker, Ishaq, who is late.
“We should wait for Ishaq before we start,” says Shah. “Is he here yet?”
“No, he must be on his way,” replies Ahmed.
“Yes, he said he left the office 30 minutes ago,” says Shah. “He might be about
to arrive.”
“Traffic may be bad, because it usually doesn’t take this long,” Ahmed says.
Shah looks at his watch. “He must feel badly about being late,” he says. “I know
he hates to be kept waiting, so he doesn’t like to do it to other people.”
“Oh, that’s all right! We shouldn’t get impatient; don’t you think?” Ahmed
smiles. “Remember his rule: the one who is late must buy lunch!”

Q.1 In Unit 5 Section A of your text book, you have read that in Active Voice sentences the
focus is on the actor. Whereas, in Passive Voice sentences the focus changes from the
actor to the action. Read the following passage and rewrite it converting active voice
sentences into passive voice and passive voice sentences into active voice. (10)

Q.2 In Unit 5, Section D of your textbook you have learnt how to write Job Application
Letters. Given below is a job advertisement. Suppose you intend to apply for this
job, how would you write a job application? Follow the format and the rules given
in Unit 5. (15)
