• Having a team of teachers who all bring something to the table.
• Creatively making accommodations that will best fit your student.
• Having everyone involved in making decisions with the students IEP.
• Knowing everyone part in the IEP team and meetings.
MAP ACTION PLANNING

• MAPS allows participates to question what they think and the characteristic
that are used.
• This can be used to help develop IEPs, used by all the members of the IEP team
and helps the student reach what their end goal is.
• Determine the hopes and dreams of the student.
SUPPORTIVE SUPPORT

• Gaining the trust of the families and students.


– Explain to them their rights
• FERPA, IDEA
• Make sure they know exactly what is going to happen throughout the IEP
meeting and let them know when questions arise you are there to answer
them.
• Meet regularly with the family.
– In person or on email. Giving them an update on what is working and what you might
change.
• Keep them involved on everything.
• Communication is KEY!
DISAGREEMENTS

• There are many things that everyone can disagree with when it come to
meetings with families and teachers.
• Miscommunication can cause conflicts
• Different views concerning academic performance and grades
• Students behavior and disciplinary actions
• Educational placements
• Availability and delivery of educational and relative services.
