1. DESCRIPTIVE TITLE: Personality Development with Public Relations

2. COURSE NO. : PDPR 101

3. NO. OF UNITS: 3 Units

4. OFFERING DEPARTMENT: College of Hotel and Restaurant Management and Tourism

5. COURSE DESCRIPTION Personality Development is a three-unit course designed to provide student with knowledge of the fundamental
concepts of personality. The course will explore the physical, psychological, moral and spiritual and social
characteristics or attributes, to help student understand and determine how he can minimize his personality through
the opportunities available to him. This course will also help students become professional members of the tourism
and hospitality industry or any area of work that will require them to become professional and create the distinct
advantage over the other members of his professional circle.

6. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES At the end of this course, the students are expected to:
1. Define explain and apply important terms and concepts in personality.
2. Recognize the importance and benefits in taking good care of physical, emotional and mental health, hygiene, grooming and maintaining
good posture.
3. Determine and understand the important role of following social institution; the family, peer, school and church as a major factor in the
moral development of individuals as foundation of personality.
4. Apply the basic concepts and skill in human relation, leadership, communication, good manners and decorum needed in the tourism and
hospitality industry.
5. Identify the different theories on personality development in relation to development of one’s personality.
6. Describe the intellectual, emotional, social, moral and spiritual aspects of personality.

9. TEACHING AND LEARNING ACTIVITIES (TLAs)

CILO 1  The instructor will discuss the different theories on personality development in relation to development of one’s personality.
 They students will be given task to identify their own personality by taking a personality test through internet sources for them to know
themselves better.
CILO 2  The instructor will discuss significance of personality enhancement in relation to penetrating the tourism and hospitality industry using video
presentation and situational exercises.
 The students will discuss and explain the significance of personality enhancement based on their personal experiences and observations. The
students will also determine their own image as perceived by others through group activity.
CILO 3  The instructor will discuss social graces and etiquettes necessary for tourism and hospitality professionals through power point and video
presentation of do’s and dont’s of social graces, importance of body movement, gestures, eye contact and facial expression in communication.
 The students will participate in the class discussion by sharing their own perspective and observation on social graces and etiquettes.
CILO 4  The instructor will present the emotional, moral, spiritual, physiological & physical aspect of personality.
CILO 5  The instructor will present the importance of guest relations and discuss the different avenues that can be taken to find expression for positive
attributes of personality through guest relations.
 The students will identify strategies in handling customer complaint through group activity and worksheets.

them to be motivated to attend their classes regularly. Furthermore, students’

discussion and readings.
Major Examinations 50% 1-4 The examinations will test the students’ ability to:

Project 10% 1-3 Papers, projects, and presentation, culminating activity are, similarly, excellent
opportunities for students to demonstrate their learning and investment in a
subject for they allow students to spend a significant amount of time preparing the
end product which focuses on the highest-level goals of the subject.
