Dear Affton Community,

Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! Truly, it is my

privilege to serve as the new Superintendent of the Affton
School District, and I look forward to working with you.
Affton School District has earned a reputation as a
leader in innovative teaching and learning. The opportunities
offered inside and outside of our classrooms are exceptional

of our students. In my six years as assistant superintendent
at Affton, I was pleased to help set the direction and tone
for our district and am committed to continuing on our
journey toward excellence.

BEFORE & AFTER SCHOOL CARE PROGRAMS

Parents of students enrolled at Mesnier Primary, Gotsch
Intermediate and Rogers Middle who need care before
and/or after school can elect to enroll their child(ren) in
Cougar Care. Before and after school care will operate
from 6:30 a.m. until school starts, and from the time school
is dismissed until 6 p.m. Care will also be provided during
days when school is released early, and on selected days
when school is not in session. For further details, call 314-

To apply for free or reduced meals for your children, you
must complete a Meal Benefit Form and return it to school.

All school cafeterias are equipped with computerized
point-of-sale systems. These computers allow each student
to have his/her own “account.” Parents/guardians are
encouraged to deposit meal money into their child(ren’s)
account. You may pre-pay for any number of meals in
advance. Please make checks payable to Affton School
District. Students are not allowed to “charge” meals if
there are no funds remaining in his/her account.
Parents/guardians and grandparents are welcome to
have lunch in the cafeteria. Please remember to sign in at
the school’s office first. The price of a larger-portion adult
meal is $2.20 for breakfast and $3.20 for lunch.

ABOUT THE BOARD BOARD MISSION STATEMENT

The Affton Board of Education is composed of seven
elected directors who serve without compensation.
Members are elected at large to serve staggered terms of
one to three years each. There is no limit on the number of
terms a member may serve.
The Affton Board has been recognized as an Outstanding
Board of Education by the Missouri School Board
Association (MSBA) for four years in a row.
The mission of the Affton School Board is to represent
the community in ensuring our students receive the best

PUBLIC NOTICE
All responsible public agencies are required to locate,
evaluate, and identify children with disabilities who are
under the jurisdiction of the agency, regardless of the
severity of the disability, including children attending
private schools, children who live outside the district but
are attending a private school within the district, highly
mobile children, such as migrant and homeless children,
children who are wards of the state, and children who are
suspected of having a disability and in need of special
education even though they are advancing from grade to

blindness, emotional disorders, hearing impairment and
deafness, mental retardation/intellectual disability, multiple
disabilities, orthopedic impairment, other health
impairments, specific learning disabilities, speech or
language impairment, traumatic brain injury, visual
impairment/blindness and young children with a
developmental delay.
  The Affton School District assures that it will provide
information and referral services necessary to assist the
State in the implementation of early intervention services
for infants and toddlers eligible for the Missouri First Steps
program.

  The Affton School District in partnership with the
Special School District of St. Louis County assure that
personally identifiable information collected, used, or
maintained by the agency for the purposes of identification,
evaluation, placement or provision of FAPE of children
with disabilities may be inspected and/or reviewed by their
parents/guardians. Parents/guardians may request
amendment to the educational record if the parent/
guardian believes the record is inaccurate, misleading, or
violates the privacy or other rights of their child. Parents
have the right to file complaints with the U.S. Department
of Education or the Missouri Department of Elementary
and Secondary Education concerning alleged failures by
the district to meet the requirements of the Family
Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). The Affton
School District has developed a Local Compliance Plan for
the implementation of State Regulations for the Individuals
with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). This plan contains
the agency’s policies and procedures regarding storage,
disclosure to third parties, retention and destruction of
personally identifiable information and the agency’s
assurances that services are provided in compliance with
the General Education Provision Act (GEPA). This plan may
be reviewed at the Affton Administration Office, by
appointment with the Director of Special Education. This
notice will be provided in native languages as appropriate.
