5 Important Shakti Pithas
Jwalamukhi
A very important Shakti pitha where the Tongue of Sati devi fell,
the Diety here is worshipped in the form of eternally burning
flames which emerge from the crevices of the rock sanctorum.
Even when some Muslim invaders tried to douse the flames with
water, the flames continued burning.
Kangra
Kangra is an exceptionally beautiful valley which is historically
known by many other names like Trigarta, nagarkot and
Bhimanagar. The City is said to have been established by the
Pandava Bhima and hence was named after him. There is an
important Shakti Pitha here of Vrajeshwari Devi where the left
breast of Sati fell.
Chamunda Devi
The famous temple of Chamunda Devi is regarded to be the
place where the Goddess annihilated the powerful demons
Chanda and Munda. It is located on the right bank of the River
Baner.
Kullu - Valley of the Gods
Kullu is a broad open valley formed by the Beas river between
Manali and Largi. This valley is famous for its beauty and its
majestic hills covered with Pine and Deodar Forest and
sprawling Apple Orchards. The course of the Beas river presents
a succession of magnificent Himalayan views, clad with forest
of Deodar, towering above trees of Pine on the lower rocky
ridges. It is also known as Dev Bhumi or the valley of the gods.
The most important temple in Kullu is the Raghunathji Mandir.
Also, there is the Narasimha Temple, Jagannath Temple,
Vaishno Devi and the Bijli Mahadev Temple.
Manikaran
Manikaran is a great Pilgrimage place located in the
magnificent Parvati Valley between the Beas and Parvati Rivers.
Here icy cold waters of the Parvati River co-exist with boiling
water side-by-side. The hot water springs are reputed for their
healing properties. The springs in the area are hot enough to
boil rice in it. There are Temples of Sri Sita Rama, Krishna,
Vishnu and Shiva here. The Vishnu Kunda located here is highly
glorified in the Scriptures. There are many wonderful pastimes
and glories of this place.

Manali
Manali is one of the most beautiful Hill Stations in the world
situated at 6398 ft above sea level. Manali is named after
Manu, the father of mankind and the son of Brahma. There is an
ancient Manu Temple located here in calm and serene
surroundings coupled with the sound of the flowing Beas river.
There is also a ruined fort here by the name of Manaligarh.
Vashisht Hot water springs
Vashisht is a small village with natural sulphur springs. The
great sage Vashishta, the guru of the Surya Vamsha in which
Lord Rama appeared, performed penance here and there is a
pair of old stone temples adorned with elaborated woodcarvings
here dedicated to him. The temple tanks are underground hot-
water springs.
Hidimba
Hidimba is an ancient cave temple dedicated to Hidimbi Devi,
who became the wife of Bhima in the Mahabharata. The temple
is surrounded by a beautiful cedar forest at the foot of the
Himalayas. The sanctuary is built over a huge rock jutting out of
the ground, which was worshiped as the deity.
Shimla
Shimla is the capital city of Himachal Pradesh and is set in
pristine North-West Himalayas. Jakhu Hill 2 km from Shimla, at
a height of 8000 ft, Jakhu Hill is the highest peak and offers a
beautiful view of the the town and of the snow-covered
Himalayas. At the top of the Hill, is an old temple of hanuman,
which is also the home of countless playful monkeys waiting to
be fed by all visitors. A 108 feet Deity of Hanuman, at 8,500 feet
above sea level, is single statue to stand at the highest altitude
among several other master pieces in the world, overtaking the
Christ Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
