The Oklahoma Institute for Child Advocacy held its second annual Heroes Ball to recognize champions for children in Oklahoma. This year's heroes were the Chickasaw Nation, Lou Kerr, and the late Sen. Ed Long. The event raised funds for OICA programs and saw nearly 400 people in attendance. A puppy in need of a home was auctioned off to a loving family. The ball highlighted the link between animal abuse and child abuse.
