What does the research say about advantages and disadvantages of distance
education?

1. LITERATURE REVIEW:
What does the literature/research say about this issue/topic? By using NAU
Library or Online Search engines, conduct a literature review.
 You need to include 5 different sources (book, journal article, web article
etc.) in your review. Try to use current sources as much as possible.
 You need to summarize and synthesize your sources by discussing a
common theme or issue.
 You don't need to critique your sources
 You don't need to evaluate your sources (if the sources are trustworthy,
weather the author has a bias or not)
 You need to provide background information such as history and
definitions

Brief Literature Review:

Most of article have common advantage and disadvantage of distance
education. The first advantage is flexibly. Students can set their own schedules.
They can study in the morning, afternoon or late at night. The second advantage
is geographic or weather. They can study any location where they can access
internet such as at home, company or Starbucks. They also are not worry about
weather such as hot, cold or snow. Therefore, they can complete on time. The
big disadvantage is communication. Students lack of interacting with a professor
or classmates. They can not get feedback with a teacher soon because they wait
for a teacher’s email or make appointment to have phone call. Students are
difficult to communicate with their classmate.

2. REFLECTION:
 What is your personal opinion on this issue? Do you agree with the
research? If you agree or disagree, please explain why?
  Provide examples/experiences regarding this issue from school
perspective or If you are not working in a school, from your profession. Be
specific with your examples. You can mention software/hardware names,
specific methods that you plan to use, etc.
 How would you implement this research in your career? (At least 1
paragraph)

Reflection:
I absolutely agree with the articles which read about advantage and disadvantage of
distance education. Time flexibility and lack of communication are big issues of online
education. In daytime, I tutor math, so I can study online at night. If I have some
questions, I can email to my professors or friends. However, I often wait at least a day to
get answers.
I plan tutor Math online. I try to set an online class the same as actual classroom. I will
buy a software which interact with student directly such as facetime, online meeting. I
also buy pen tablet to write math problems on the computer screen, so students can
follow up. While I am teaching on the screen, a student can ask any questions. I will
answers immediately. Sometimes, I create some education movie. Students can watch
and assignments which relate to the movies. Every time often interact with students
online, I motivate students to learn. That is one of important.
