1) Buttons and Hardware

Buttons and Hardware Identification


The following table describes the buttons and hardware on the phones.
Item Description

1 Programmable Depending on configuration, programmable buttons

 Phone lines (line buttons) and intercom lines

 Speed-dial numbers (speed-dial buttons), including the Busy
Lamp Field (BLF) speed-dial feature
 Web-based services (for example, a Personal Address Book
button)
 Call features (for example, a Privacy, Hold, or Transfer
button)
Buttons illuminate to indicate status:
 Green, steady: Active call or two-way intercom call
 Green, flashing: Held call
 Amber, steady: Privacy in use, one-way intercom
call, Do Not Disturb (DND) active, or logged into Hunt
Group
 Amber, flashing: Incoming call or reverting call
 Red, steady: Remote line in use (shared line, BLF
status or active Mobile Connect call)
2 Footstand button Enables you to adjust the angle of the phone base.

3 Cisco Unified IP Phones 7970G, 7971G-GE, and


Display button
7975G
 Awakens the phone screen from sleep mode or
disables the touchscreen feature for cleaning.

 No color: Ready for input


 Green flashing: Disabled
 Green steady: Sleep mode

 Awakens the phone screen from sleep mode.

 No color: Ready for input


 Green steady: Sleep mode
4 Messages button Autodials your voice message service (varies by
service).
5 Directories button Opens/closes the Directories menu. Use the button to
access call logs and directories.
6 Help button Activates the Help menu.

7 Settings button Opens/closes the Settings menu. Use the button to


change phone screen and ring settings.
8 Services button Opens/closes the Services menu.

9 Volume button Controls the handset, headset, and speakerphone

volume (off-hook) and the ringer volume (on-hook).
10 Speaker button Selects the speakerphone as the default audio path
and initiates a new call, picks up an incoming call, or
ends a call. During a call, the button is lit green.
The speakerphone audio path does not change until
you select a new default audiopath (for example, by
picking up the handset).
If external speakers are connected, the Speakerphone
button uses these speakers as the default audio path.

11 Mute button Toggles the microphone on or off. When the


microphone is muted, the button is lit.
12 Headset button Selects the headset as the default audio path and
initiates a new call, picks up an incoming call, or ends
a call. During a call, the button is lit green.
A headset icon in the phone screen header line
indicates that the headset is the default audio path.
This audio path does not change until you select a
new default audio path (for example, by picking up the
handset).

13 4-way navigation pad Cisco Unified IP Phone 7945G, 7965G, and 7975G
and Select button  Enables you to scroll through menus and highlight
items. Use the Select button to select an item that is
highlighted on the screen.
(center)  Navigation button: Scroll up and down to see menus
and highlight items and right and left across
multicolumn displays.
 Select button: Scroll to highlight a line by using the
Navigation button and then press to open a menu,
play a ringer item, or access other features, as
described on the screen.

Navigation button  Enables you to scroll through menus and highlight
items. When the phone is on-hook, displays phone
numbers from your Placed Calls log.

15 Keypad Enables you to dial phone numbers, enter letters, and


choose menu items.
16 Softkey buttons Each button activates a softkey option that displays on
your phone screen.

17 Handset light strip Indicates an incoming call or new voice message.

2) User Self Provisioning


When the IP Phone connected to the network it will auto register with dummy Extension, every
user have to know his own extension for self-provisioning.

Step1: Lift the handset, you will hear a recorded message says “to self-provision this device enter
the Self-provisioning number followed by the bound key (#).
Step2: Enter your extension starting with 86734XXX and press #.
Step3: your phone will restart and come back with full configurations (Actual Extension, Display
Name and Privileges)

3) Phone Screen

1 Primary phone line Displays the phone number (directory number) for
your primary phone line. When several feature tabs
are open, the phone number and the time and date
display alternately in this area.
2 Programmable Serve as phone line buttons, intercom line buttons,
buttons speed-dial buttons, phone service buttons or phone
feature buttons. Icons and labels indicate how these
buttons are configured. See Line and Call Icons.
3 Softkey labels Displays a softkey function for the corresponding
softkey button.
4 Status line Displays audio mode icons, status information, and
prompts.
5 Call activity area Displays current calls per line, including caller ID,
call duration, and call state for the highlighted line

6 Phone tab Indicates call activity.

7 Feature tabs Indicates an open feature menu. See Feature


Buttons and Menus.
Note
The Messages, Directories, and Services screens on your phone may appear
in Normal mode or in Wide mode depending on how your phone has been set
up. A phone window in Wide mode spans the entire width of the phone
screen. Neither you nor your administrator can adjust the phone screen
viewing mode.

4) Basic operations
 Make a Call: pick up the handset and enter the number you want to reach.
 Make a Call with a Headset: Plug in a headset, Enter a number using the keypad and
Press Headset
 Make a Call with the Speakerphone: Enter a number using the keypad then Press
Speakerphone
 Answer a Call: Lift the handset. If you are using the speakerphone, press the Answer soft
key or the Speaker button.
 Put a Call on Hold: Press Hold , to resume press hold again
 View Your Recent Calls: Press Applications , Select Regents then select a line to
view
 Transfer a Call to Another Person: during active call, press Transfer . Enter the
other person’s phone number. Press Transfer again.
 Mute Your Audio: Press Mute , Press Mute again to turn mute off.
 Listen to Your Voice Messages: Press Messages and follow the voice prompts. To
check messages for a specific line, press the line button first.
 Forward All Calls: Select a line and press forward all. Dial the number that you want to
forward to, to receive calls again, press forward off.

 Establish\End Conference call


Step 1 During a call, press the Conference button to open a new line and put the first
party on hold.
Step 2 Place a call to another number.
Step 3 Press Conference button again to add the new party to the call.
Step 4 Perform any of the following steps to end a conference call:
Hang up the handset, or press the Cancel soft key. Depending on the configuration, when
the conference call initiator disconnects, the conference call terminates.

To end the conference and remain connected to the most recent call, press the Conf soft
key. The older call is placed on hold.

5) Search in corporate directory


You can look up a coworker's number from your phone, which makes it easier to give them a
call.
To dial a contact in corporate directory:

Procedure
Step 1: Press Contacts
Step 2: Select Corporate Directory.
Step 3: Select search criteria.
Step 4: Enter your search criteria and press Submit.
Step 5: Select the contact.
Step 6: Press Call

6) Dialing Internal Extension


The internal phone Extension consists of 8 Digits start with 86734XXX
8 is access code
673 is HQ site code
4XXX is the internal extension
The user has to dial only the least significant four digits starting with 4XXX

Procedure
Step1: lift the handset or click new call
Step2: Dial the Extension you need directly starting with 4XXX

7) Dialing Remote sites

This remains the same with no changes users will continue to use the same dialing patterns for
Petrojet offices.

8) Dialing External Number (long distance, mobile and


international)
Procedure
Step2: lift the handset or click new call
Step3: Dial 9, then you will hear a second dial tone
Step4: dial the number you want

Example: if you need to dial a mobile number 01XXXXXXXXX, you have to dial
901XXXXXXXXX, the same concept applies when you dial local, national or international
number.

9) DID Range (inbound calls from PSTN)


In order to be reached from outside, the user must has DID number. The DID number consists of
the Country Code (+2) + National Code (02) + Subscriber Number.

Where the subscriber number consists of the prefix 2673 + the four digit internal Extension
starting with 4

For Example: if you want to reach the extension 4101 from outside, you have to dial 02
26734101.

10) Operator Dialing


10.1) Internally

To reach the Operator internally (inside the company), Dial 0

10.2) Externally

To reach the operator from outside (through PSTN), either dial 02 26734000 or 02 26734001
