Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission of the ministry of health and family welfare, has highlighted the
importance of health information resources for pharmaceutical drug research and management. A
national seminar under the skill development programme on ‘Health Information Resources and
Searching Techniques’ at its campus in Ghaziabad on July 27, 2018 provided a peek into web
search, academic search engines, plagiarism and other emerging issues.
Prof (Dr) K R Reddy, Director, PCIM&H Ghaziabad was the guest of honor. Dr RC Gaur, Director
(Lib. & Info.) IGNCA, New Delhi, delivered keynote address and explained about research information
management and the changing role of the librarian in context of emerging tools and technologies.
Prof. (Dr.) Shilpi Verma, from B.B.A. University Lucknow, emphasized on health literacy, resources
and information searching models. She was emphatic that there should be technology upgradation for
providing web based services.
Dr S Siva Chidambaram, Chief Librarian, AIIMS New Delhi, focused on the significance of library for
evidence base medicine and practices in health information system and services. Dr. KK Singh,
organizing secretary, spoke on recent tools and searching techniques of information retrieval. Dr AK
Suman, president, CGLA, Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy, Dehradun, concluded the
seminar.
Dr Jai Prakash, Sr PSO, Dr. PL Sahu, Principal Scientific Officer, Head, R&D, Indian Pharmacopoeia
Commission, Dr Robin Kumar, Dr. V. Kalaiselven, Dr. Meenakshi Dahiya,. Alok Sharma, Anuj
Prakash, Dr. M Kalaivani and other officials were present. The seminar was attended by library
professionals, academicians, scientists, students across the country and abroad.
