Do You Hear A Knock?

Luke 12:36 as though you were waiting for your master to return from the wedding feast.
Then you will be ready to open the door and let him in the moment he arrives and
knocks.
Revelation 3:20 “Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the
door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends. I believe many of us
have seen the above picture. I actually have it in my own house. It's the portrayal of
Jesus knocking on the door of the heart. How many of us have looked at this picture
and casually placed it's meaning aside? There is a deep spiritual meaning behind
this picture. Think about it. Jesus and the Holy Spirit are knocking on doors of
hearts waiting to be allowed in. Do we find it easy to ignore the knocking? Do we
tune it out because we don't want to be bothered. or maybe we're just too busy to
answer the door?
Whatever the case or reason may be, let's look a little deeper in to this. Many of us
have heard or read the Scripture in Matthew 17 that says; "While he was still
speaking, a bright cloud enveloped them, and a voice from the cloud said, "This is
my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!" God Himself
spoke and said "listen to Him". Who is the "Him" God is referring to? Jesus! The
voice of Jesus exemplified through the Holy Spirit. Jesus is knocking, He's calling
you, do you hear Him?
At times our hearts may condemn us. Yes, I know you're thinking of the Scripture in
Romans that says "now there is NO condemnation", many of us make the mistake
of not reading the entire Scripture. We have a tendency to read the parts we like and
disregard the parts that make us cringe a little. If we read the rest of that verse it
says: Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,
[ Some later manuscripts Jesus, who do not live according to the sinful nature but
according to the Spirit,]
In other words, if you continue to live according to the sinful nature and not
according to the spirit, then YES ... there will be condemnation. Anyone who walks
after the flesh will be met with condemnation. In my own life, when I do something
wrong, my heart condemns me. If I'm not able to hide things from my own heart,
then how can I expect or even think I could ever hide anything from God? Never
shove dealings of God under the rug. Pay attention to them. Is your heart reminding
you of things to get right with God? Listen to the promptings. The worst thing we
can do is ignore them.
Satan will sit right next to you attempting to hinder your prayer life. He will drum
up all kinds of things you've done, if you've opened that door and not made them
right before God. He is strengthened by our sinful nature and if we are constantly
giving him fuel ... trust me he will use it to become more and more empowered.
That's his rightful avenue to us and it's opened and available to him. We must strip
him of his power and render him ineffective in our lives. How do we do that? By
confessing our sins to God. Trust me, there is no sin out there important enough to
steal our freedom and joy in Christ.
The things of this world brings condemnation upon us. The things of God bring
freedom. Our sins literally lock up our spirit and driving us to an overwhelming
feeling of misery and anxiety. When you pray for something, never pray your will or
what you'd like to see happen ... pray God's will. I have started to pray this way and
I have seen tremendous changes occurring. Many of us can deny the will of God to
take place, by implying our own will to certain things, people, circumstances and
situations.
In retrospect, let us pray to see the way God sees, have the faith to believe the way
God desires for us to believe, and ears to hear what God wants us to hear. If we do
this, there's nothing we couldn't accomplish for the Kingdom of God. Until next
time:
 Don't ignore the knocking
 Open the door
 Listen to His Voice
 Obey what he tells you to do
May God's blessing and favor be upon you! :)
