THE GROUP / DIVISION

The Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) is responsible for leading key strategic areas
central to the University’s objectives including academic planning, strategic and operational planning
for learning and teaching, the student experience, student retention, equity and graduate outcomes,
digital strategy, academic staffing and quality standards. The Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) has
operational responsibility for Academic Administration, the Centre for Learning Futures, Griffith
Online, Library and Learning Services and Educational Alliances.

The number of students studying online has seen rapid growth in recent times so that now our “digital
campus” is the third largest and fastest growing. Along with this growth, has been the emergence of
micro credentials and digital badges as a way of recognising various forms of learning.

POSITION OBJECTIVES

The Senior Project Officer will play a pivotal role in the implementation of the Digital Campus and a
Digital Badges solution for the university. This position will be responsible for ensuring the overall
project management for the Digital Campus and Digital Badges projects and associated activities.
These projects underpin the continuing evolution of the university in the adoption and application of
digital technology to provide responsive, high quality learning and teaching experiences in a rapidly
changing environment. The position will require high level communication skills and collaboration
across a number of key stakeholders to ensure appropriate stakeholder involvement and
dissemination of information relating to project outcomes.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

 Provide high-level management of project activities towards meeting project deliverables

 Coordinate governance of the Digital Campus project including supporting the steering
committee, develop, and maintain working relationships at all levels of the organisation,
ensuring consultation with relevant stakeholders.

 Rapidly acquire knowledge in formulating a digital campus and implementing a digital badging
solution in order to provide subject matter expertise to key stakeholders and more guide the
ongoing development of the initiatives.

 Provide strategic advice regarding innovative approaches for designing, delivering digital
badging, and digital campus services to students.

 Contribute to the design and embedding of organizational processes and procedures to


sustain ongoing activities relating to the Digital Campus and Digital Badges.

 Evaluate and disseminate exemplar practices, resources and innovative approaches that are
formed in concert with academic groups and learning futures across the institution using a
range of traditional and emerging learning modes and communication channels.

 Contribute to benchmarking activities with other institutions in relation to Digital badges and
Digital campuses.

 Promote compliance with relevant legislation and University policies and procedures,
including equity and health & safety and exhibit good practice in relation to same;

 Promote fair, ethical and professional work practices in accordance with the University Code
of Conduct.
SELECTION CRITERIA

 A postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g. education, higher education,


psychology, communications, information technology etc.) or an equivalent combination of
relevant skills, knowledge and experience.

 Excellent interpersonal and group communication skills, with the capacity to liaise effectively
at all levels including with officers, university staff relevant internal and external stakeholders.

 Proven project management skills with track record of achieving large and complex outcomes
to strict timelines.

 Proven experience in IT and online learning with an ability to liaise with and provide advice
and support to clients through the design, development and implementation of new courses,
programs and services in the digital campus setting.

 Knowledge and experience in university information systems (e.g. student information


systems, customer relations management systems, learning management systems) and the
use of social media and other networking tools.

 Highly developed organisational, negotiating, influencing and relationship building skills, and a
demonstrated ability to work autonomously for extended periods.
