Information on the application for the Master course of studies 12. Apr. 2017
in Engineering Sciences at the Rosenheim University, Germany

1. Admission requirements

The professional admission requirement is a University degree related to Electrical Engineering and
Information Technology or Mechatronics or Plastics Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with an above-
average scholastic rating, either obtained at a German University or in an equivalent degree at a foreign
University. An above average scholastic rating means an overall rating of "good" or better. The decision rests
with the responsible Examination Board.

Further qualification requirement for the course of studies is the knowledge of English and German.

2. Application

Starting the master course of studies at the Rosenheim University is possible both in the winter and in the
summer term.

Application for the first study term is possible from Mai 1 until June 15 (for winter term, starting October 1 )

and November 15 until January 15 (for summer term, starting March 15 ). During this period you will find
definite information as well as our online application portal on our Internet pages.

For your own interest, we strongly advise you to start your application as early as possible. As a first step you
need to register via our online registration portal www.fh-rosenheim.de/studienbewerber.html. Please do not
register before the application period starts!

After your online application there will be generated a pdf-file . This file includes two pages
“application form” and “curriculum vitae” . Due to legal security reasons you need to print out, sign and
present these two forms in paper form to the university up to the deadline stipulated. Deadlines are "in-
office" deadlines not postmark deadlines. Please do not forget to add your current email and postal address to
your online application. If your application is in process, you will regularly receive further information via email.

You will find help in the helpboxes in the online-application or in the FAQ’s on the website www.fh-

After your online application the following documents must be presented to the university:

Deadline June 15 (for winter term) or January 15 (for summer term):

• Printout of the ‚application letter form‘ (is offered for download after the online application).
Do not forget to sign it.

• Printout of the ‚curriculum vitae form‘ (is offered for download after the online application).
Please complete in hand writing.

• Diploma or Bachelor Certificate of the first/undergraduate course of studies (official certified copy)
It is essential that the cumulative mark/final grade is shown.

• Grading System of the Diploma or Bachelor Degree with the maximum and minimum marks of passing

• If available diploma supplement or transcript of records


as proof of the achieved ECTS points of achievement during the first/undergraduate course of studies.
Their presentation is not necessary if the ECTS points are shown in the Diploma or Bachelor Degree
certificate.
• Proof of the necessary level of English (official certified copy)
Following proofs are accepted:
1. TOEFL with 550 points or better.
2. CBTOEFL with 213 points or better.
3. Internet-based TOEFL with 84 points or better.
4. IELTS volume/edition 6.0 or better.
5. Cambridge CEFR CPE with Grade C or better.
6. Cambridge CEFR CAE with Grade B or better.

We don’t accept a proof of the medium of instruction in the Bachelor Degree course!!

• Proof of the necessary level of German (official certified copy)


Following proofs are accepted:
1. Deutsches Sprachdiplom Level 1 (Level GER A2/B1)
2. Goethe Certificate of Level A2
3. TELC Cerificate of Level A2.

Exempt from the proof of sufficient German knowledge are applicants whose mother tongue is German.
German language skills can also be proofed by passed German courses at a German University
amounting to at least 4 ECTS.

Deadline enrollment (end of September for winter term or middle of March for summer term, the
exact deadline will be mentioned in the admission letter):

(only for applicants who were enrolled at a German University before)

Official Certification

All copies of your certificates must be certified by an approved authority.


Certification can be obtained from the German embassy or consulate abroad. Certification may only be
accepted if issued by German authorities, German notaries public or authorities in the EU (European Union).
All other certifications can not be accepted!

With certificates or diplomas not written in either German or English (regarding both language and script), an
additional translation is necessary. This must be done by a publicly appointed and officially sworn translator.
German translations done abroad must be legalized there by the Germany Embassy or Consulate.

All application documents remain with the University and will be destroyed after finishing the application
procedure.

Please indicate on complementary documents your six-digit application number. These can be found in the
online application portal or on the application form.

If you apply for several master study courses, please attach all documents to every application form.

3. Further procedure

You may follow up your application or look for missing documents via the online application portal. Please do
check your portal regularly! Please take into account that due to the numeral applications it takes a few days
until you will be informed about your status. The status “in process” means that your application has reached
us. So we ask to refrain from queries!

Important note for applicants who have gained at least 180 but not more than 210 credit points in their
first course of studies:

Requirement for successfully passing the master examination is the proof of sufficient or the catching up with
the missing credit points from the technically relevant courses available at the Rosenheim University. Course
and examination requirements that will have to be passed additionally will be stipulated by the board of
examination. In certain cases vocational or professional work periods may be credited to the missing credit
points. Thus obtaining a degree necessitates the proof of a total of 300 credit points (incl. first course of
studies). Applicants with less than 180 ECTS from their first course of studies cannot be admitted to the
master course of studies.
