Learning Goals
You will be able to identify a
specific artist and artistic
movement.
You will work with your
classmates to create a large
mural.
You will learn how to use oil
pastels correctly and how
colors blend.

PROCEDURE :
Step1.
Examine your assigned sec-
tion of the painting VERY well.
You are to recreate the lines
you see on a much bigger
scale. On an 8”x8” piece of
paper, use LIGHT pencil lines
to duplicate what you see.
Use proportion to obtain accu-
racy. For example, a line that
falls just below the half-way
point on your small square
should also fall just below
halfway on your big square.
Look closely for these propor-
tions.

piece.
• Media: material used
for making art (in this
case: oil pastel)
Step 2.
Put your square next to neigh-
boring squares to see if your
lines meet as they should.
Corrections can be made at
this time. Once color is ap-
plied to your paper, correc-
tions are not possible.
Step 3.
Examine the use of color on
your small square. Outline
your lines with black sharpie–
making sure that your lines
match up with your neighbors.
Color your large square using
oil pastels– you may choose
any colors you like. Your col-
ors do not have to match your
partners. Turn in your work
with your name and square
number clearly written right
side up on the back.
