Research methodology 15 marks

Introduction
Research Methodology of the study, which is the most important chapter of a research study which
identifies the basis of the research study. It refers to the information on how the research study is
going to be conducted within an estimated set of resources and within a given time frame. A
research study is all about the finding of an existing phenomena under a given situation to identify
the reasons for occurring, to identify an opportunity to develop and to provide recommendations
for such a movement. In this, it is very much important to identify the resources and the time frame
that are received to conduct the research study. In order to conduct an effective research study, it
is very much important to develop a plan on how to conduct the research study in the ground level.
The specific plan that a researcher is going to be conducted at the very beginning of the research
study is known as the methodology of the research study and that takes a significant consideration
of the researcher as it entails with the entire research study. Defining and creating a clear and
specific methodology is very much important for the success of the research study where as it
helps to identify the step by step flow of the research flow. It helps the successful continuation of
the research study as well as it helps to maintain the uniformity of the research study. Since the
research methodology undertakes the total plan of the study it will helps to identify the specific
direction for the study. Accordingly, in this chapter it will show the direct map of the entire
research study and it shows the way how the research will be conducted in the specific time frame
and within the acquired resource limit.
First of all this will alludes the type of the sources of data that are needed by the researcher in
order to achieve the stated research objectives of the study. Also it will identify the ways and the
instruments that are needed to collect data from the sample respondents and also it has identified
the validity as well as the reliability of the data collection instrument. Identification of the validity
and the reliability of the data collection instrument and the type of the data collection instrument
is very much important and that should be tally with the research problem that has been addressed
and the research objectives that are expected to achieve at the end of the research study. Based on
the effectiveness of the data collection instrument, the effectiveness of the data which has collected
is depend and also the effectiveness of the data findings. Research design is the total idea or the
technique of the research study and that identifies for which type of a data needed to be collected
under which type of a format. Basically it says the plan of the research study. Sampling plan can
also be identified as one of the most important segment of the research study in which it identifies
the people from whom the data are going to be collected. Identification and the definition of an
important set of sample respondents whom are directly link with the problem addressed of the
study will ensure the effectiveness of the study.
Sources of data
In general research studies addressed for two types of sources of data namely the primary sources
of data and the secondary sources of data.
Primary source of data
Primary sources of data are the sources of data that are generally collect on the solely purpose of
the current research study. For a research study, the primary sources of data are the most important
and significant sources of data where in that the real problem of the study is going to be addressed.
In that case, the main sources of data that the researcher has used was the primary sources of data.
Secondary sources of data
Secondary sources of data can be identified as one of the most trustable sources of data that a
researcher can be used in order to have an effective research study. Both the primary sources of
data and the secondary sources of data are holding an effective importance for the research study.
In that study, secondary sources of data has been collected from the reference books, syndicated
research articles, internal reports, and annual reports as well as from the trade magazines.
Research approach
The research approach that was followed for the motivations behind this examination was the
inductive one. As per this approach, analysts start with inductive approach, which are utilized to
create summed up hypotheses and conclusions drawn from the study. The purposes behind
involving the Inductive approach was that it considers the setting where inquire about exertion is
dynamic, while it is likewise most proper for little examples that deliver subjective information.
In any case, the primary shortcoming of the inductive approach is that it produces generalized
hypotheses and determinations construct just with respect to a little number of perceptions, along
these lines the unwavering quality of research comes about being under question (Denzin and
Lincoln, 2005).
Sampling plan
A sample can be identified as the set of elements that a researcher is collected data as for the inputs
of the research study. Collecting data from the whole population is very good if a researcher can
undertake but unfortunately as per some financial and some other resource constraints, the
researcher cannot undertake data from all the respondents of the population. As a result of that, the
researcher has to take data from a selected set of sample respondents of the population and that
selection is known as the sample. The identification of population, sample size and the sampling
technique are known to be the ingredients of the sample plan.
Population
Since the research study is addressed the importance of the source inspection to the effectiveness
of the production quality of the MAS Intimates, it has identified the population as the total number
of suppliers of fabric for the MAS Intimates. There are more than 1200 suppliers whom suppliers
are engaged in the process of supplying the raw materials to the MAS Intimates.
Sample size
Since the resource constraints the researcher cannot access for collect data from all the suppliers
and as a result of that the researcher has planned to collect data from 20 suppliers whom supplies
the raw materials to the MAS Intimates. So the sample size of the study is 20 and that means the
primary data will be collected from 20 sample respondents of the population.
Sampling technique
Sampling technique can be identified as the method of selecting sample respondents for the sample
from the population. In that, there are two main methods to select sample respondents from the
population namely non-probability sampling technique and probability sampling technique. In the
probability sampling technique the sample respondents are selected based on the probability and
for every respondent of the population will receive an equal chance to being selected for the
sample. When it comes to the probability sampling technique, there’s not an equal chance for all
the sample respondents to be selected for the sample. It may be select the sample respondents
based on the convenience of the researcher. In here also, the researcher has used the non-
probability convenience sampling technique where it used to select the sample respondents
selectively.
Data collection
Primary sources of data can be categorized in to two main types namely the quantitative data and
the qualitative data. In order to get more insights from the sample respondents more effectively
and efficiently, the researcher has planned to get data from both qualitative and quantitative
manner. As per the quantitative manner, the data are being collected through a self-administered
questionnaire and as per the quantitative manner, the data are being collected from the sample
respondents through focus group discussions as well as from the in-depth interviews.
Validation of the questionnaire
The survey intended for the investigation was subjected to an approval procedure for face and
substance validity. Face and substance validity have been characterized by McBurney (1994:123)
as following:
• Face validity is the possibility that a test ought to show up externally to test what it should test;
and

• Content validity is the thought that a test should test the scope of conduct spoke to by the
hypothetical idea being tried. 3 - 6
In the approval procedure of this examination, duplicates of the survey and duplicates of the
examine questions were given to a few troughs and experts. These specialists experienced the
exploration questions and the survey painstakingly to discover the suitability and ampleness of the
instrument. They proposed organizing the poll in the Likert form, on a five-point scale rather than
changed 4 point Likert mold (Nworgu 1991:117). Scientist inclines toward the adjusted Likert
scale in light of the fact that as per typical Likert scale, emphatically concur relegates 5 focuses,
concur 4 focuses, neutral 3 focuses differ 2 focuses and emphatically differ 1 point. Numerous
specialists and supervisors feel that there is no sufficiently consistent motivation to dole out the
heaviness of 3 focuses to someone who is undecided on a given issue. Hence the changed 4 Likert
scale is favored. However the other helpful perceptions and recommendations by the specialists
were altered, and the amendments were made.
Instrument of data collection
In order to collect the data in a more structured way and more uniformity manner, the data are
being collected from a structured questionnaire and the questionnaire included two main sections
namely the demographic data and the specific data. As per the measurement purpose, it has been
used the five point likert scale measurements.
Research design
The researcher identified the research design into outline since it best served to reply the inquiries
and the motivations behind the investigation. The review examine is one in which a gathering of
individuals or things is contemplated by gathering and breaking down information from just a
couple of individuals or things thought to be illustrative of the whole gathering. As such, just a
piece of the population is examined, and discoveries from this are required to be summed up to the
whole population (Nworgu 1991:68). Similary, McBurney (1994:170) characterizes the study
evaluating popular sentiment or individual qualities by the utilization of survey also, examining
techniques. The research design that has been used in the study was conclusive research design
and this is a type of a research design in which the collection of data are meant to be more specific
and directed to the purpose being addressed and it has been identified the descriptive type of
research studies.
Data analysis
The information gathered from the field were dissected. Factually weighted mean was utilized as
a part of noting the exploration questions. The reaction choices in the instrument are weighted as
demonstrated as follows: The acknowledgment point for the things was 2.50 and any mean beneath
2.50 was viewed as rejected, not pervasive and as disagreeable view. The t-test is characterized as
testing theory about the contrasts between implies when the example estimate is little (Nworgu
1991:161). It is along these lines, the t-test measurable investigation that was utilized in testing the
five invalid theories utilized as a part of this examination. At that point, when the established t-test
is more prominent than the basic estimation of t, test the alternative hypothesis was rejected and
the option, which is "centrality" was acknowledged. 3 - 8 But when the computed t-esteem was
not as much as the basic t-esteem, the invalid theory was acknowledged and the option rejected.
Be that as it may, the invalid hypothesis were tried at 0.05 (5 %) level of centrality (see Appendix
IV). This implies 5 odds of being in mistake out of each 100 cases. That is, the odds of mistake
are low.
