Geometry for Fourth Graders

Objective1:
The activity presented to the students will help reinforce the concepts listed in the TEKS above.
The Following site provides fourth graders with activities that will strengthen their
understanding.

Objective 2:
§111.6. Grade 4, Adopted 2012.
(6) Geometry and measurement. The student applies mathematical process standards to
analyze geometric attributes in order to develop generalizations about their properties. The
student is expected to:
(A) identify points, lines, line segments, rays, angles, and perpendicular and parallel
lines;
(C) apply knowledge of right angles to identify acute, right, and obtuse triangles; and
In this activity, student will be presented with various multiple-
choice options. The first simply wants the student to identify the
image being displayed.

As the game progresses, the students win coins and the problems
get progressively harder.
Some of the questions will present several different image options in
which the student must select the correct.

The next activity is structured the same way as the Lines, Rays and
Line segments. However, this one will test students’ knowledge on
angles. \

The first question will be a simple identification of a right angle.

As the game progresses, the students win coins and the problems
get progressively harder.

Here are two different shapes presented here. As you can see the
first one is simple yes or no questions, but that is only helpful is the
student understands the definition of an acute angle without having
multiple options.

Since this figure could possibly more intimidating to look at, the
activity gave the student multiple options to choose from.

These types of activities can be utilized in many different

aspects of the class. If a student finishes the lesson early, they can
jump on an I Station to play games related to the geometry lesson,
thus reinforcing what the teacher taught on. In addition, these types
of activities could be utilized during group rotations. However, the
teacher decides to use digital media activities, as long as they follow
the TEKS and supplement the lesson, this will benefit the learning
development of the student.
