1 GENERAL
There is a flexible coupling (figure 1 and figure 2) between the primary shaft of the hoisting motor and the
hoisting gear. The hubs equipped with coupling claws move the motor torque onto the hoisting gear by
means of the toothed elastic element, which allows small angular, radial and axial misalignments.

2 INSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE OF COUPLING

2.1 Inspection interval

The elastic element of the coupling wears depending on the operation. The coupling shall be checked in
intervals of 3 months in order to make sure its safety and noiseless running. As far as any wearing of the
elastic element is not found, the inspection interval can be lengthened to 6 months.
The hardness of the elastic element of the couplings is found in table 1.

Table 1. Hardness of elastic element in couplings.

Trolley type Coupling type Elastic element

SM09 SM08PG35 (size 75) 92 Shore A

2.2 Inspection
Unload the hook and leave it hanging suspended by ropes. Due to the load torque of the hook block, every
second tooth of 8 teeth of the elastic element is loaded. Measure the air gap s between the unloaded tooth
and the coupling claw, through the inspection hole situated in the coupling box. If the air gap s is bigger than
1 mm or there are breaks at tooth ends of the elastic element, the elastic element shall be changed
(figure 3).

2.3 Changing the elastic element

Lower the hook block down onto the support, when the hoisting ropes get looser (or lock the rotating of the
drum by a mechanic arrester). Open the fastening screws of the hoisting motor and loosen the motor.
Remove the old elastic element and check, that the coupling halves are not damaged. Mount a new elastic
element and fasten the motor onto its place. Insert new tab washers under the fastening screws of the motor.

3 SPARE PARTS
If spare parts are needed, please specify the following information in order to ensure that the correct parts
are supplied:
 complete type of the hoisting trolley
 complete type of the hoisting motor
 serial number of the hoisting trolley
The above information can be found in the identification plates of the hoisting trolley and motors, as well as
in the original inspection certificates.
