Goldsmith 8A-2 – The Deep Silence of My Peace Meditation

My peace I give unto you, not as the world giveth give I unto you, but My
peace.” You see it is as evident as can be, that this “so-called” or “apparent,” let’s
not say “so-called” but this “apparent” turmoil which has disturbed the outer world
has come into this world to bring about either doubt or fear, for those things or
conditions that exist in our outer world. And tonight if you really want to carry away
the sense of the new message, the new mission, try while you are here to drop all
sense of thought or concern for whatever it is that is disturbing in the outer picture.

Now, it isn’t easy for me to say this any more than it is easy for you to hear it. But,
the desire in the hearts of most of us, right now, is for some solution to an outer
problem, to a problem of human existence, to something that is disturbing us in the
world of health or wealth.

Most of us at this very moment are concerned, about something in our human
affairs, and we are seeking a solution to it. There’s nothing wrong about that, the
solution must appear because harmony must appear. But, we will fail to find the
solution as long as we are concerned with the problem and the solution of the
problem.

Watch what I say to you, that we can have the answer to that problem tonight, if we
can sufficiently drop the concern for it in the realization of this, now hear it well: “My
peace,” that is Christ peace, this is Jesus speaking, My peace I give unto you, not
as the world giveth, not the peace of physical health, or physical wealth, not the
satisfaction of personal desires, but something far transcending that—something
that when we experience it, wipes out entirely the need for human demonstration.
That is what we want to achieve here tonight, this very evening I’m speaking of, this
very evening.

In this next hour, we can and many of us must, drop this concern, lose the
concern—for whatever it is, whatever the nature of it may be, that we brought with
us into this room. And, we can’t do it humanly, we can’t tell it to get out or “get
behind me Satan,” but we can open our consciousness at this minute to a realization
of “My peace.”

Now watch this as it flows through your consciousness, watch as you open yourself
even with a question. What is this “My peace?” What is the spiritual nature of peace?
What is the spiritual nature of harmony? Now you will remember that, in order to be
that person, whose being is in Christ we must have come to the end of the road of
seeking and searching, and come to some measure of awareness that we have
already arrived.

And in order to do that we relax, relax from every sense of desire of achievement or
desire of demonstration in the feeling that the presence of God dissolves all false
appearances. The presence of God is a “peace be still”. . . to every type of
storm. There are more storms than ever were on the seas, there are more storms in
our thought than oceans ever caused. But the Christ is a “peace be still” to every
form of storm, to every form of discord, to every nature of disharmony: Peace be
still, My peace, My peace, Christ peace. The peace that passeth understanding, is
the peace that comes with the realization of: I will never leave thee nor forsake
thee; if you walk through the waters;…I will be with thee; whithersoever thou goest,
I will go;…Thy people will be my people;…Never, never, I will never leave thee nor
forsake thee; whithersoever thou goest, I will go;…Yea though you walk through the
valley of the shadow of death, I will walk with you;… I will be with you, I will be in
you, and I will be through you; fear not, fear not, I am with you. (long pause)

From the depth of this inner silence, comes forth the healing waters, those waters
that spring into everlasting life. Out of the depth of this silence, comes the Spirit
which appears as our sun by day and our pillar of fire by night. Out of the depth of
this silence, comes the safety and the security that always follows the peace that
God gives.

The reason for peace is that there is nothing to fear. While there is something to
fear, there is no peace. Once the peace has descended upon us, the treatment is
complete. The reason for disturbance, for sickness, for lack, has gone. The feeling of
peace, is the successful treatment. And there is no successful treatment until the
peace that passeth understanding descends upon us.

All prayer, all treatment, all communion with God is only for one purpose; not to
make any kind of demonstration, but to achieve for us this sense of peace or
well-being. That realization that: Lo I am with you, unto the end of time. Lo I am
always with you.

Let us have that sense of the Divine Presence, you will have the completed
treatment. Let us fail to achieve this sense of peace, and the treatment is not a
treatment. “In My presence, the fire does not burn, and the water does not drown.
In My presence the storms do not rage, the power of God is the answer to every
form of disharmony.” The feeling of the Presence is in Itself the solution. Let us
understand this now, let us understand this: our problem is at an end, not when we
think we have found a solution, but when we have felt this inner peace.

There is this bond between all of us; the bond that brought us together at this
moment, in this place. That bond is the love of God. That love of God is our mutual
Oneness. It makes us at one with God, and at one with each other; so that the flow
of God to and through any one of us is instantaneously the flow of God through
everyone within range of our being. One with God is a majority, and because we are
one with God and one with each other, all that God is showing forth is manifesting
as our individual experience, but the individual experience of each one of us.
Whatever is true spiritually of one of us in demonstration is now true of all of us
because of our oneness in each other through our oneness in God. So the “peace be
still” that is of God, that touches the soul of one of us, touches the soul of each of
us.

The solution of the outer problem is automatically taken care of in the realization of
this inner peace: the peace within, produces the peace outside. The activity of
God within, results in the stilling of the waves without; the peace be still within,
appears as the daily manna without. The realization of this Divine Presence, this
feeling of divine love through us, is the temple of God in which we live and move
and have our being, even when we are out in the world.

The word of God is our abiding place and even when we move in and out of this
world, we are abiding in this word if we feel. We take just this moment for the
feeling of this divine presence: “I will never leave you nor forsake you—but you
must abide in Me, you must abide in My word; I will never leave you nor
forsake you, I will be with you whithersoever thou goest—but you must turn
within to Me, you must make Me your abiding place, you must take My word
into your mouth, into your consciousness, you must take the remembrance of My
presence with you, wherever you go; I will never leave you nor forsake you—but be
sure that you do not leave the word out of your mouth.”

Recognize the divine presence in the heart and soul of all those you meet—friend or
foe. Recognize that the individual soul is the abiding place of God. That the world
itself doesn’t know it is of no concern to you or to me; they too will awaken as we
recognize God in the midst of them.

In this work that we are doing tonight, I want to reveal to you a principle of healing,
of protecting, and of supply. But I want to reveal to you a principle, that will operate
without your taking thought, without your making statements, without your doing
heavy mental work, without your begging or pleading or beseeching of God. I would
like to show you a principle of healing that operates completely without what the
metaphysical world calls treatment.

**In this principle you will find that the healing principle is a state of peace, a
state of peace that you achieve, that I achieve, we all achieve, through the
realization of the Presence. That is this form of treatment—just the realization of
the Presence, just the feeling of a state of peace.

Now, as we went into this work tonight, I’m sure you felt the agitation in the air, in
the atmosphere, or in many cases, you yourselves felt ill at ease, not at peace.

Now, I want you to remain here, and abide in this, until a sense of peace steals over
you, a sense of peace that will come through only one recognition: I am with you, I
will never leave you nor forsake you; I in the midst of you, am mighty; My Presence
will go before you, to make the crooked places straight; I will go before you, to
prepare a place for you; My peace I give unto you, not as the world giveth, not with
human honours or human wealth—but a peace transcending everyone’s
understanding, the peace that comes when the Christ is enthroned in our
consciousness, as the source of our health and the source of our supply.

No other peace can be lasting, only the peace that comes as the Christ is enthroned
as the source of your good, and as the only power in your experience. I live yet not
I, Christ liveth my life, I can do all things through Christ. Christ is my strength, Christ
is my redeemer, my saviour, Christ is the law of resurrection unto my body, unto my
business. Christ is my bread and wine and water, not to be achieved, not to be
earned. Christ never leaves us nor forsakes us, therefore the bread and the water
and the wine and the meat are always here within our own being. I am with you and
I am the bread of life, I am with you and I am the meat, I am with you and I am the
wine and I am the water and I am the resurrection. I am life eternal and I will never
leave you. I, life eternal, will never leave you nor forsake you. My peace I give unto
you.

No longer will you live by bread, but by My God presence—My God presence
will be sufficient for you. You will no longer seek for anything, except for Me and
you will know that in finding Me, the Christ, you will have found your peace, your
security, your confidence, your reward, your health, strength, eternality. No longer
seek after the things of the world—otherwise you cannot receive the peace that the
world knows nothing of. Seeking the things of the world you find the peace that the
world can give you. Seeking the realization of My presence you’ll find the “peace that
passeth understanding.”

In this treatment, the nature of the problem is of no importance, only the

realization of this peace, of this Presence. It will take care of the problem
regardless of its nature or of its intensity or of the length of time or of its duration:
though your sins were scarlet, you shall be white as snow in one instant.

I will take you by a way, I will take you by a way called Christ, in which every
thought, every need and every desire will be satisfied and fulfilled in the realization
of that word Christ. Christ is my fulfillment; Christ is my saviour; Christ is the source
and fount of all my good. I shall look unto Christ, not unto man, unto Christ, unto
this sense of peace within me. In the realization of this peace, I have found the
Christ, I have realised the Christ—Christ has become visible and tangible.

Right before me, right before my closed eyes is a luminous cross, crucifix, and it is
the symbol of the crucifying of our faith, belief and dependence on something
external to our own being. Right now, right here we are crucifying our own faith or
dependence on a presence or power outside of our own being. And as we rise above
that cross, that crucifix, as we rise above the crucifying of our outer dependence, we
make the ascension into that state of consciousness in which regardless of the
storm, we close the eyes and say “peace be still, my peace is with me.”

Think, think, think now that from this moment on, when you have crucified your
faith and dependence, your reliance, on people, on things, and have come into the
realization “that a state of peace within, is life eternal and harmonious without.” In
that moment, you have made the ascension above this world.

And only then can you say with the Master: “I have overcome the world.” I have
overcome the need for anything or anyone; I have found Christ within to be my
salvation, my supplier and my supply, my healer and my redeemer. I have found
that the source of satisfaction is this realization of peace within. My fulfillment is
always now from within. I have crossed out the belief that my help must come from
without. I have crossed out the belief that anything or anyone external is necessary
to the realization of my eternal harmony and all that has come about
through the feel of a peace within, not due to anything without, but due to a
divine Presence within.

The Divine Presence has always been there. How many times however, when we
have felt this outer discord, have we sat patiently for 10 or 15 minutes to let this
peace descend upon us; and in failing to do that, we have missed the way.

Now when the storms threaten without; now when the waves dash against our ship;
let us remember this experience. It may take five minutes for the peace to descend.
It may take 15 minutes. There are obstinate beliefs in this world, but if we’re patient
and know what it is we’re waiting for, “the assurance from within,” that’s all
we’re waiting for, “the assurance from within.” The treatment isn’t complete, till
the assurance has come within: lo I am with you always; fear not I am with you.

See how easy it is to rest in the deep silence, to relax the worlds’ cares? Ah but you
say “yes, but when we return to the world, aren’t the troubles still there?” Not for
you and not for me! A thousand may feel them at your left and ten thousand at your
right; they will not come nigh you, as you dwell in this deep silence.

It may take practice, but whenever this agitation comes as you certainly must have
felt it here tonight; whenever that agitation comes to your thought, find a place to
rest and relax and wait. Wait for this peace to descend upon you. As this peace
descends upon you inwardly, you may be assured whatever the name or nature of
the storm without, it also is being stilled.

Isn’t it easy in this atmosphere to say, God forgive them, they know not what they
do? All these disturbers of the world... isn’t it easy to forgive them, and realise “it’s
only because of their ignorance of this peace, just as we were ignorant of it, half
hour ago.” Nothing can enter the deep silence that defileth or maketh a lie.

By this you can see that, we were not disturbed by our own fears or doubts or
problems. When we came into this room we were disturbed by the world’s fears and
doubts and problems. We were merely receiving stations for the world’s troubles. If
they were our troubles, they’d still be troubling us. They never were our troubles,
even when they reflected themselves in our affairs.

Those of you who feel this, who are touched by the divine Presence, will want to
maintain it always. There is a way, it is the way of frequent silence and frequent
meditation, frequent opening of thought to the Christ, to the realization of the Divine
Presence. At the first flurry of an entrance from the world into your consciousness—
retire into this, even while at your work.

Be not afraid, it is I.

Thank you, thank you.

And for a living example of that, let me ask you now to relax. Relax and let thought
get quiet inside in the realization of a Presence that is to bring you
fulfillment.

As a person, you no longer need to desire anything, or to want anything, or to

acknowledge a need for anything. As a person now, you can relax, and be assured
that there is a Presence in the midst of you, a Light, God-Self. And It's
function, is to fulfil your entire experience, to fill it full of spiritual good.
It's function in the midst of you, is to know what things you have need of and to
provide them.

There is no need now, for you to acknowledge any lack, there is no need for you to
acknowledge any need. The stillness, the silence is God’s abiding place. In
the stillness and in the silence, God lives, expresses, fulfils, reveals and
unfolds, and It’s world appears to you in forms of harmony, grace and
beauty.

Just passively be a beholder.

Or sometimes when you see a beautiful flower, the first thought that comes into
your mind is “and a fool hath said in his heart, there is no God.” Have you ever
looked at a beautiful flower, or a mountain scene, sunrise or sunset, and had that
thought flash right into your mind, “and a fool hath said in his heart, there is no
God?” Well that’s because you knew, “that only God could make a tree” as the poet
told us. You knew that only God could fashion such a sunset, create such a
mountain setting. You knew that it was your joy and your pleasure and your
privilege, to behold God revealing Itself in these beautiful forms and colours. That’s
all you were doing, you were beholding God reveal Itself to you in these wondrous
varieties of beauty and grace.

So in this moment of relaxed selfhood, where you know now after these weeks of
instruction that I can of my own self do nothing. It truly is the Spirit within me that
doeth the works. In this moment of supreme stillness and silence, where the human
mind is not trying to make a demonstration, where the human mind has gone even
a step further, and acknowledges no lack, no limitation, no need, just feels that: I
am home in Thee; I and my God are one; I rest in Thee; I feel the peace that
passeth understanding; I know the glow of the divine Presence; It that fashioned
thee shall preserve thee... shall be a light unto thy feet... shall go to prepare a place
for thee—because It is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory; this is God’s
kingdom not yours, this is God’s power not yours, this is God’s glory not mine; as if
we of our own understanding or power had raised up this person—no, the God of
Abraham, the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob hath done this thing; and if the Spirit
of God dwell in you, that same Spirit that raised up Jesus from the dead will quicken
also your mortal bodies.

How may you know if the Spirit of God dwells in you? You can be relaxed if you can
be at peace, if you can rest, rest: in quietness and in confidence, shall be my
strength, not in mental work, not in treatment, in quietness and confidence
shall be my strength.

Be still and let me show you God’s glory, let me show you how God can come to
you, revealing health, revealing harmony, revealing peace—and all without you
doing a thing: “not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, saith the Lord. I will not
leave you comfortless. I will send you a comforter, even the Spirit of Truth—and It
will be all things to you. Rest from your mental labours, rest from your doubts and
from your fears.”

No one ever fears who has tasted or touched God. Yea though I walk through the
valley of the shadow of death, I will not fear. No. How could David fear since he had
already learned that Thou art with me.

If in this moment of stillness and of silence, you feel even the tiniest touch of the
Christ, you will never again fear though you walk through the desert or through the
wilderness, or through the waters or through the flames or through the valley of the
shadow of death. You will never again fear, because the remembrance of this little
touch will be a reassurance that: “before Abraham was, I was right there with you
and lo I am with you unto the end of the world. I will never leave you nor forsake
you; as I was with Abraham, so I will be with you. As I was with Moses in the Red
Sea, in the wilderness, so I will be with you; though the waters pass over you, they
will not drown you.”
I don’t ask you to believe the signs. I don’t ask you to believe even if you experience
a healing. I don’t ask you to believe even if your mail is filled with money tomorrow.
I will only ask you to believe if you feel a touch within you—the Presence,
the Light, the Life.

Remember, if your thought wants to wander, just remind it that it is in silence and
confidence that you find your peace not in your mental wanderings, not in
trying to remember a lot of truths, not in trying to fulfil some human need: but in
quietness and confidence.

When the Master says to us now, know the truth and the truth will make you free,
remember that the truth that you are to know is: that I in the midst of thee am
mighty; that My peace is your salvation; that quietness and confidence is the
treatment; that we do not attain our good by might or by power, but by a gentle
Spirit; we are quiet as we accept God’s grace; we let God’s grace flow to
us and through us.

And remember, go and tell no person; tell no one what things you have discovered.
Don’t throw your pearls before the unprepared thought.

These things that are whispered to you in silence, will be shouted from the housetop
as demonstration: not by your voice, not by your rushing to tell your friend or
neighbour—but by demonstration.

Be still, be still and know, but then again be still and know. Don’t do it aloud,
be still and know.

Tape 271 - Side 1

By Joel Goldsmith

Excerpt from Tape 271 Side 1

In the moment that you do not use physical or mental resistance, a transcendental
presence of power comes into effect in your consciousness. It's there all the time.
It's always there. You have... Every individual has enough power within themselves
to live eternally, immortally, harmoniously, and abundantly, but you have to learn to
live that way without taking thought.

In other words then, the moment that I recognize God as infinite life, omnipresent
life, remember, that life which I am, and which you are ... And then the minute I
realize that all of this evil that comes to my eyes and ears is only the projection of
this belief in two powers, and actually is not a person or a condition, then my fears
have dropped, and I can get quiet inside and be still. And in that stillness,
something takes place of which I am not aware.

I can't feel it, see it, hear it, taste it, touch it, or smell it; I merely know that I'm in a
calm. But that calm is the presence of God that dissolves those erroneous
pictures. It doesn't heal disease; there isn't any. It doesn't reform sinners; there
aren't any. It dissolves that belief in good and evil, and once that's dissolved,
you're no longer seeing through a glass darkly; you are seeing face to face.

In the Infinite Way our function is to immediately turn away from any and every
problem that presents itself to us. Our function in this message is not in the area of
improving matter. Our function is the attainment of the awareness of the
Presence of God. The realization of God's Omnipresence is our goal. We
then rest in the inner realization of our "spiritual identity" as the only Law,
the only Life and the only Reality. This is how we behold the dissolving of all
illusory problems that present themselves to us. Not by trying to remove them but
by "knowing that they are not there."

- Joel S Goldsmith from the book "Awakening Mystical Consciousness"

IW Morsel – No Sin

There is no sin that you could commit deep or scarlet enough that would compel
God, the I AM, to forsake you.

IW Morsel – Our Neighbour

The only way to avoid bearing false witness against our neighbour is to realize that
the Christ is our neighbour, that our neighbour is a spiritual being, the God
expression, just as we are.

If you want greater intelligence, greater experience, greater maturity, turn within
and realize your conscious oneness with God. Understand that the invisible mind and
invisible life, which is God, is now forming itself as your mind and your life. Then
you, too, will find that you’re not cut off. You don’t wither at sixty or sixty-five; you
begin to mature at that time. Like our great composers and authors who did their
best works at eighty and eighty-two, so will you as you mature, or what the world
calls “age,” because you have turned to your spiritual centre for it. Now, to do this
consciously constitutes treatment, but you experience the result of that treatment,
and that treatment kept up over a period of time automatically turns from treatment
to realization.

So it is with the organs and functions of the body: either they won't work at all or
they work too fast or work too slow. There is a spiritual treatment, a spiritual
realization, that meets these conditions: It is the realization that mind is the
substance of matter, mind is the substance of all physical form. Mind constitutes the
body. Mind is invisible activity, but it appears visibly as body, as form, as organs,
and as functions of the body. That’s why my hand, which is mind, responds to
directions given by the mind: up, down, left, right. The hand does that. Why? Is the
hand intelligent? No. The hand has intelligence. Every single cell of flesh, of blood,
of muscle, and of bone, has a centre of intelligence in it, and it responds to me. I
say, ‘Give,” and it gives; I say, “Hold,” and it holds; I say, “Pet,” and it pets; I say,
“Punch,” and it punches. Why? Because the hand is responding to my instructions.

What is the difference between my hand and my heart, liver, and lungs? All different
parts of one body, all responsive to my instructions. Therefore, I say, “Heart, liver.
Lungs, you can’t tell me how to act; I’m telling you how to act. Act in accordance
with the way God meant for you to act when it created you. God made you in its
own image and likeness. God gave you qualities and functions. Now perform them.
Don’t talk back. I say to you, ‘Arise’; I say to you, ‘Come forth from that tomb’; I say
to you, ‘Heart, liver, lungs, or any other part of the body, be about God’s business;
do that which was given you to do. Let me have no back-talk from you!” this is a
treatment. But do you see that if you continue this practice when the occasion
requires, ultimately you will go beyond treatment? All of a sudden something inside
you will say, “You don’t have to do that. I’m here to do that for you. I’ll take over.”
Then you go about your business; you have now risen from treatment to realization.

1952 Honolulu Class - Series On Tape 12 Side 1 THUNDER OF SILENCE By Joel Goldsmith

Now, you can never get unhypnotized as long as you are judging by appearances,
because the thing you are judging with, the human mind, is a state of hypnotism. In
other words, in looking out from your eyes, you are looking out from a state of
hypnosis. The only way you can be dehypnotized is when the five physical
senses are quiet and you are still inside of you. Then spiritual awareness
reveals to you the Truth of being. In other words, your eyes are always going to
see babies being born and old people die. Your ears are always going to be hearing
about sin, disease, lack, death and limitation and you are always going to see, hear,
taste, touch, and smell error. So until you shut that "five senses" off and develop
this inner thing that enables you to say, "Ah, I see. I see that which is not visible. I
hear that which is not audible. I know that which is not knowable with the human
senses."
I suppose I could describe it this way: If a person with no musical appreciation
heard a symphony, what would he hear? A lot of dull, monotonous noises. A person
with a musical consciousness listens to it and hears harmony, melody, rhythm. Or
take a person who has no art appreciation, who looks at an oil painting. What does
he see? Dobs of paint. That is all, nothing more, nothing less, just dobs of paint that
do not make sense. Now, a person comes along with an art appreciation and he
sees whatever it is that the artist had in mind, the execution, and the colouring and
the shading, and so forth and so on. A person who knows nothing of sculpture, what
does he see? A piece of bronze or a piece of marble made into a statue, and that's
all that it is—usually, a very poor likeness of that. A person with an artistic sense
looks at it and he sees the skill, he sees the line, the form, he sees the rhythm, he
sees the flow in the artists mind and hands in it. Do you see that? Then they are not
seeing just with their eyes are they? They are seeing through their art ability or
through their musical appreciation. In the same way, if you look through your eyes
at this world, all you will ever see are human beings, sometimes good, sometimes
bad.

Now then, that is what you always see, taste, touch and smell with the five physical
senses. So you will never get to understand your symphony or your paintings or
your sculpture until you develop that art capacity. You will never get to know the
spiritual universe until you develop that inner spiritual consciousness, that which is
called, Christ Consciousness, which enabled Jesus to say to Pilate—who had the
greatest temporal power of his day—"Thou could have no power." How could he say
that in the face of the temporal power that Pilate had? He was seeing through to
something beyond what the eyes can see or the ears could hear. He was knowing
something that the human mind couldn't know and he proved it when he allowed
himself to be crucified and they could not kill him. In other words, Pilate and the
crucifix and the sword, had no power. Now then, dehypnotization is the ability to see
that which actually is, or the ability to taste, touch and smell that which actually is.
The only way that it can be accomplished is through that spiritual consciousness.

Then, to have some evidence that we are getting dehypnotized, we must first of all
be able to know this, you cannot cure a disease—there isn't any. You cannot
overcome poverty—there isn't any. You cannot overcome death—there isn't any. The
only thing you can do is to recognize: I am not dealing with those appearances, I
am not dealing with such suggestions, I am dealing with hypnotism. Do not see sin
and do not see disease. Remember that, you are dealing not with sin, and not with
disease, and not with sinners, but rather with a false appearance produced by
the belief of a selfhood apart from God, a universal belief so ‘powerful’ that it
operates as law in our consciousness, until we detect it and caste it out, until we
know the truth.
You remember, of course, the illustration of the mirage on the desert. You are
driving along and suddenly, you see water on the road and perhaps you stop your
car quickly. As you sit there and gaze at the road ahead of you, glance about you, all
of a sudden you realize it isn't water, it is a mirage. And then, you start your car and
drive on. You haven't removed the water from the road. There wasn't any. You
merely recognized that what appeared as water on the road, was a mirage, and you
paid no further attention to it. The water never was there but what would happen if
you would treat the mirage as if it actually were water? You would stay there and
wait for somebody to come and siphon it off. It has to be siphoned off, it has to be
gotten off the road as long as you think of it as water. The moment you understand
it as mirage, it doesn't bother you any longer, does it? And so it is with error. As
long as you can be made to treat a person, or a condition, or a sin, or a disease, or
a cause of disease, you will be trying to remove the water from the road.

It was in one of these tapes that I said that you have got to see that the so‑called,
mental cause, is just as much of an illusion as the physical disease. In some studies,
it is claimed that there is a mental cause for a physical disease. If that is so, the
disease is no illusion—since, it has a real cause. We, in The Infinite Way, must
recognize that even a mental cause is as much of an illusion as the physical disease,
since all there is to the human scene, all there is to what we understand as "this
world" is in the nature of the illusion. Truth is infinite God or infinite Mind and Its
creation and there is nothing else. The mental cause is as illusory in its nature as the
physical effect. To understand reality, you must understand that only spirit is real,
since spirit is infinite, that all that exists must exist at the standpoint of spirit, under
spiritual law.

The Mystical I By Joel Goldsmith

Infinite Way Letter August 1955 By Joel Goldsmith Essential Points In Infinite Way Practice Self-Completeness
in God Finding the Answers to “Problems”

The practice of spiritual wisdom must be applied to all the experiences of daily
living—the minor as well as the major ones. Each day we are faced with so-called
problems which are but temptations to believe in a selfhood apart from God, and as
these temptations come to take thought for some outer condition we find ourselves
in a quandary: What shall I do about this, and how shall I go about that? When
called upon to do something exceeding our present financial, mental or physical
capacity, we are immediately inclined to start thinking, planning, hoping and
despairing, and to say, “It cannot be done; it is an impossibility.”

The simple application of spiritual wisdom is to realise that the answer lies within
you—not in your mental or physical capacity, but in the Christ of your being.
You are Self-complete in God. The kingdom of God, the all-ness of God is
within you, and you can turn there for the answer to every problem. Every detail of
your life is already complete and established, way down deep in consciousness, and
there is no problem so involved or so enormous that the answer does not lie within
you.

Instead of striving externally for the answer, on the basis of your Self-
completeness in God, go within, and the answer will appear: you will be
led, guided and directed. Even if you were lost in the wilderness, you would be
led to safety through your realization that the kingdom of God within you is infinite,
full and complete; forever flowing forth, revealing and disclosing Itself to your
humanhood.

As you continue the practice of spiritual wisdom, you learn to withdraw your
dependence on outside avenues, and soon you will find that it is literally true—
you are self-complete. Although the answer sometimes comes through some
person, circumstance or condition in the external realm, it does not come from
them—it comes from the depths of your own being.

Believe in your Self-completeness in God. Believe that you can turn to the
kingdom of God within you for any answer, any supply, any love, any
wisdom—for anything necessary in your experience. Believe that you can
turn within and receive the assurance of God’s Presence, and then watch
your good appear in the without. “In returning and rest shall ye be saved;
in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength.”

IW Morsel - You Do Not Know

You do not know God aright until you know God as infinite Wisdom and divine Love.
You do not know God aright until you have the ability to cease asking.

IW Morsel - Depends On You

The degree of your own unfoldment depends upon how much you practice the
Presence of God each day.

From - IW 1955 Letters P. 146 1960 TORONTO PRIVATE CLASS TAPE 335 SIDE 1 THE START OF THE SPIRITUAL
LIFE By Joel Goldsmith
And that is why it has been found of old that it is our acknowledgement of God,
keeping the mind stayed on God, abiding in the Word of God that leads us to that
state of peace wherein the experience takes place, the actual feeling of the
Presence. And as we continue in this, we find that whereas in the beginning we can
only establish this contact consciously, occasionally, the more we practice, the more
we find that we can establish it at will. And the reason is that it is only a matter of a
year or two when we are permanently established in It and only need certain
periods of renewal. In other words, eventually you are living with that Source
continuously flowing. But two or fifty times a day it is necessary to go within and get
the conscious realization of It again, and then it goes continuously.

It has been my experience that this relationship should be renewed many, many
times during the day, and night, too, if we awaken. The goal of all this Paul has
described. "I live, yet not I, Christ liveth my life." And so it is that through this
practice, the contact is so consciously made, so specifically made, and so
continuously established that we never have to take thought again, consciously. We
are lived through this Withinness, and then we just go through the motions of life
every day, doing that which is given us to do and knowing that we are doing it well
because of this divine Grace that is performing it through us.

There would be no evils on earth if it weren't for the operation of an invisible and an
impersonal power, which in reality is not a power but operates as a power. And
because it is impersonal, it is easy to deal with. Now the world has found it difficult
because it has personalized this power and this evil and it says that you are evil, or
that you have evil qualities or erroneous traits. It says that you may be envious or
jealous or malicious, or you may be sensual, or you may be unkind. Of course, this is
not true. It isn't true of any individual on the face of the earth. Evil is never
personal. And the reason that the mental sciences like psychology and psychiatry are
such failures, and are finding it necessary now to seek for new principles, is that
they make the basic blunder of personalizing the evil and looking for it within you.
Some metaphysical practitioners do that too and try to uncover the error in you or
find out that you are unloving, or you aren't generous, or you hate your mother-in-
law. And it wouldn't make a difference if you did, actually it wouldn't be your fault.

And that is what we are going to take up, the impersonal nature of the evil that
besets this world, and how to deal with it so as to overcome it or its influence in our
experience. And when we learn how to impersonalize and nothing-ize evil, you will
find that it is literally truth that God is Omnipotence and there is no other power. But
you cannot prove the Omnipotence of God as long as you personalize evil, or as long
as you try to overcome it. For those who live by the sword will die by the sword.
Those who try to use a power to overcome evil, will end up victims of the evil. It is
very much like those who try to protect themselves from evil and then find they
have brought those very evils upon themselves. Whereas the proper sense of
protection would have been the realization of the nature of that which operates in
our consciousness as error until we know its nature.

Message body 1960 TORONTO PRIVATE CLASS TAPE 335 SIDE 1 THE START OF THE SPIRITUAL LIFE By Joel
Goldsmith
Now, the human race is cut off from God and cut off from the Christ and that is why
its prayers are of no avail. That is why it has been praying for thousands of years for
peace on earth and never attained it. And parents have been praying for their
children, and children have been praying for their presents, and it has availed
nothing. Very little has ever been accomplished with the power of prayer, in the
sense of the prayer that is known with the mind. "Oh, God do this," or, "Oh, God do
that." Very little results have ever been attained. What little result has come usually
is through some individual who has risen higher than their teaching and has actually,
through their own spirituality, has attained a measure of this God realization.

All of this time that we have gone through wars and depressions, all of this time that
we have gone through infections and contagions, all of this time that we have gone
through the tragedies of life, none of these things were necessary. Anyone could
have, and many have, avoided all of them. Because once you make contact with the
Spirit of God within you, none of these things can come nigh thy dwelling place. A
thousand may fall at your left and ten thousand at your right, but it will not come
night you. And the Master repeats this in the Fifteenth Chapter of John, "If you will
abide in this Word and if you will let God abide in you, you will bear fruit richly. If
you do not do these things, you will be as a branch of a tree that is cut off and
withereth." And that's what the human race has been, a branch of a tree that is cut
off and withereth. Generation after generation it has been cut off and it has died
through wars, and it has died through disease, and died through accident, and died
through alcoholism, and died through drugs. Why? Only because we have forgotten
the teaching of the great masters of all religions, throughout all time, "Abide in Me
and let Me abide in you." Consciously live and move and have your being in the
Kingdom of God. Consciously acknowledge Me in all thy ways. Consciously call upon
Me, not me up here, and not a Jewish me and a Christian me, but the Me that is
within your being, the Spirit of God in you. And acknowledge It in all thy ways.

Acknowledge God, acknowledge this Presence, acknowledge this Power, live with It,
move with It, have It in your being. Acknowledge It that It gives you the intelligence
to perform your work. Acknowledge that It gives you the love that enables you to
share with your neighbour, to love thy neighbour as thyself. Acknowledge that you,
yourself, are not good enough to sit down and pray for your enemies, that only by
the Grace of God can you take out fifteen minutes of your time every day to praying
for your enemies. And if you don't, you have no hope whatsoever of becoming a
Child of God.

The Master has made it clear that praying for your friends availeth you nothing. In
order to be the Child of God, you must pray for your enemies. You must pray for
them who despitefully use you. You must pray for them who persecute you, and
then you have to forgive them seventy times seven for their offenses before you can
become the Child of God. And if anyone thinks they can become a Child of God just
by being born into this world, they have tragedy ahead of them. There is only one
way to become a Child of God and that is learn the lesson of spiritual Truth. Learn to
abide in God and let God abide in you. Learn to acknowledge Him. Learn to pray the
prayer of forgiveness. Learn to pray for the enemy, that their consciousness may be
opened to the government of the Christ, that their hearts may be opened to the
government of God, that their souls may be purified by His Presence. Then you are
really praying.

The well man doesn't need a physician and the holy man doesn't need your prayers.
It is the sick and the sinning, they who need us, and don't forget to some extent we
are the sick and the sinning, too, so that we need each other. And we need
forgiveness for our offenses of omission and commission. Let no one glory in His
perfection for no one on earth is perfect. And if they were humanly perfect, they still
would have no entrance into Heaven.

That was the meaning of the Master’s teaching when He did away with the Ten
Commandments. If you obeyed all of the Ten Commandments, you still could not
get into Heaven, for you would only have attained human goodness. And He wiped
these out and said, "I'll give you a couple that will get you into Heaven .... Love the
Lord thy God with all they heart and with all thy soul, and love thy neighbour as
thyself." Obey these two and you will have entrance into Heaven, you'll sit at the
right hand of God and at the left hand of God and by God's feet. You will know the
whole Kingdom of God if you can live by these two Commandments. And the reason
He gave these, He knew that if you love God and if you love your neighbour as
yourself, you can't steal, you can't lie, you can't cheat, you can't defraud. You can't
do any of those things while you are loving your neighbour as yourself because you
would not do to another what you would not have another do to you.

Infinite Way LetterAugust 1955 By Joel Goldsmith Essential Points In Infinite Way Practice

Freedom—by Grace
Heretofore we have been concerned with human freedom—that is, freedom of
speech, freedom of the press, freedom of religion, economic freedom, bodily
freedom. I speak to you of spiritual freedom.

What is freedom? Freedom is Life living Itself. Freedom is joy and peace. Freedom is
the song of the Soul, the dream of the dreamer. Freedom is being. The person
whose being is in Christ is free. I am free and you are free, but not while we are
attached to the wheel of human thought; not while we are in obedience to man-
made government of the Soul.

Freedom is not a condition of government—freedom is a condition of the Soul. Men

in chains have been free; men have been free under slavery and oppression. Men
have prospered in periods of depression and panic; men have survived war and
flood and famine. When the Soul of man is free It carries him through Red Seas and
desert experiences to the Promised Land of spiritual peace. As we turn to the
kingdom of our inner Self, we find the reign of divine power in the outer world. As
we seek peace within, we find harmony without. As we find freedom of the Soul, we
experience the freedom of Grace.

What prevents us from living in the highest realm of harmony, health and
abundance? What prevents us from enjoying all the good that may be found on
earth? Is there any power decreeing and enforcing poverty, disease and death? Is
there any law of lack and limitation binding us to the wheel of slavery, hard labour
and trial? If so, from whence do they emanate?

The world has ever sought freedom, peace and plenty, but this search has been
chiefly in the feverish activity of the human mind, in the tiring energy of brain-
racked thought. The human mind, falsely educated through the centuries contains
within itself all the fears and failures of the human race. All the anguish of passion,
greed, lust, ambition, fear and domination is found in human thought, and there is
run the race for lawless possession and voracious acquisition. The result is not
freedom, but enslavement to the senses.

If one suddenly decided to withdraw from this struggle for freedom through mortal
thinking, would not some unseen, unknown Power reveal Itself to human thought,
and unfold without strife the infinite abundance and presence of that Bread which
cometh down from heaven, satisfying all mental, physical and financial needs? With
the limitation of mortal thought removed, may man not find in the enlarged vision of
fearless, unfettered being, the freedom of the race? Where but in the realm of this
greater understanding may man find the infinity of his good? Where but in the broad
consciousness of his immortal being can the individual find his thirst slaked by the
Water that will forever end the thirst for water that does not satisfy? Where but in
the realm of his new consciousness can be found the Meat that ends the hard
hunger of unsatisfied desires, and frees the mind from the dizzying influence of the
senses?

Freedom is a quality of thought and condition, experienced only when attachment to

the manifest realm is broken. Above and beyond the lure of mortal sense is the life
divine, where one enters into one’s heritage of freedom. This is freedom to live in
the world, and yet to be free from bondage to its attractions; to enjoy friendships,
but not to be dependent upon them; to welcome money for the things it will buy,
but not to be avaricious; to work, not merely to earn a living, but for the joy of it. To
seek to raise the standard of our work, or to find a better way of doing the work at
hand, brings freedom from drudgery, and eventually freedom from lack and
limitation. To love our families and not be dismayed by their failings or too proud of
their achievements; to stand back of the world and watch its comings and goings, its
successes and failures, its loves and hates, and not be overcome or involved—this is
freedom.

August 1955 By Joel Goldsmith Essential Points In Infinite Way Practice

Rising out of the tomb to all forms of human existence is possible, but possible only
in proportion to what you put into the attempt. You want health and supply, you
want peace and joy, you want life everlasting. You must begin to know the truth
today, and know it and know it and know it! Each day of not knowing the truth
postpones the day of salvation.

At the earliest moment of the morning, and continuously during the day, become
aware of every spiritual truth that you can bring to remembrance, and as you go
about your duties always keep in consciousness some spiritual truth which is the law
to your family and your affairs. Wonderful truths are to be found in all the scriptures
of the world, and no one should be without some statement that can be pondered in
thought and applied throughout the day. As you become more proficient in this
practice, the errors of your own household are dispelled, and, if you continue on the
spiritual Path, eventually the day will come when you will have patients and
students, and you will find that your responsibility extends farther than your own
household. Then it is that you must be willing to lay down your life, and that means
you must be willing to lay down your comfort, your rest and your time. You must be
willing to hew to the line twenty-four hours of each day in order that others may
receive the light that you, yourself, have been given through the Grace of God.

Each one who receives some measure of spiritual light must let that light shine—in
her own life, in her household, in her community. No one has the right to avoid this,
and in the end no one will have the ability to avoid it. Just as the lighthouse is for
the benefit of the ships that pass by, so are ye the light of the world, that those not
yet aware of their true identity may be lighted on their way.

Begin your spiritual life with the understanding that all conflicts must be settled
within your consciousness.

Study & Meditation #105 From Joel Goldsmith-1962 Chicago Closed Class (1:1) Tape 468 – Side 1
Discovery of My Self

Illusion says that health is in the body. Illusion shows us that wealth is in the bank.
Reality says “I” am the Lord God almighty and beside me there is no other. “I” in the
midst of me is mighty. “I” is my fortress, my abiding place, my high tower.
Whether I sit here in my room, walk out on the street or hide in a concrete shelter, I
still have to realise God is my abiding place. I dwell in the secret place of the most
high. I do not dwell in a body of flesh.

I dwell, I live and move and have my being in God and God constitutes the activity
of my body. God constitutes the activity of the organs and functions of my body.
God is the only activity and as long as God is active, the organs and functions have
to respond to that activity.

Life is a glorious adventure when the Spirit has become a living Reality. Life
becomes a thing of now. Concern for the future falls away. Each moment of the day
provides its own Grace; its own supply of joy, peace, dominion, home, friendship,
success.

Things of "this world" are understood as objects of sense -- temporal, finite and
temporary -- and one does not struggle to get or save these. "Take therefore no
thought for the morrow; for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.
Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof." (Matt: 6:34).

Do not misunderstand. There is no need for anyone to give or throw away savings
or investments or insurance. These are a part of today's living and regardless of how
great is the Spirit within you, there will be anxious moments for your family if they
feel that human wisdom or common sense is breached. But know this: When the
Spirit of Truth has been consciously realised, you will never again have concern for
the outer welfare; you will know that every moment will fulfil itself with Grace for
that moment. You will then see your investments and savings as the "added things"
-- as evidence of your spiritual development and not as something necessary for a
rainy day or old age.

Remember, however, that your supply is ever at hand regardless of any material
possessions, because your supply is the consciousness of the Presence, and It
provides the fullness of good every moment where you are.

~Joel S Goldsmith

Adapted From Joel Goldsmith's "Consciousness Unfolding" - Chapter 2 - Peace

"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I
unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." -- John 14:27

Now we are beginning to see the purpose and the function of our role in this Infinite
Way activity. We are beginning to see that none of this seeking and striving to find
God in order to resolve our human problems really has any meaning whatsoever.
There is no meaning in resolving human problems. After all is said and done, the
only meaning that is ever to be found is in abiding in the "Peace I leave
with you".

This study practice reinforces its companion lesson in that once we have made the
conscious decision to develop the Beholder through spiritual contemplation we will
eventually be led right up to that place where the experience of the Christ Peace is
our eternal resting place. Yes, yes, yes! This is the true attainment that we are now
claiming as our own! "My peace I give unto you".

In Chapter 2 - Peace, of "Consciousness Unfolding", Joel is giving us direct testimony

to the true meaning of spiritual healing which when practiced in its highest state of
consciousness brings with it the attainment of the Christ realization -- "not as the
world giveth, give I unto you". All the other appearances of worldly problems,
sickness, sin, disease, poverty, loneliness and death are the decoys that when
discerned spiritually become our greatest blessings! We cannot tell this to those who
have not yet experienced a degree of this truth. We can go within and follow Joel's
instruction when he tells us:

"Learn to sit and relax. Whether the case is sin, disease, lack, death, or
unemployment; whether or not it is serious, sit down and relax. Do not try to
'handle' it. Do not try to 'work' on it. Do not try to 'treat' it. Sit back and, in
silence, create a kind of vacuum for God, for the Spirit, to rush in. Sit down
and relinquish the thought that the human mind is a healer: The Christ is the healer.
The essence of the whole work we are doing is this: God is. God is, so let God
work in us and through us to Its own end, and as Its own creation. Instead
of continuing to use the words, God, God, God, let the actual realization of God
do the work, since God is."

As Joel also tells us, the temptation has always been to demonstrate an effect or to
use Truth to solve our human problems. Of course, this can never be because as
soon as we fall into this sort of temptation we are right back outside the Garden of
Eden attempting to use a power to overcome another power. In Truth there is no
power, only God -- only Peace. So instead of attempting to use any Truth let us
simply go within to realise the Presence of the Christ Peace. We can never know
with our minds what takes place when we come into the Silent Spirit of Peace. And
yet to those of us here who truly desire Peace, the very Self-Evidence of our being
here is in and of Itself the Way.

Experience God, know God, feel God, love and understand God, and finally
realise Godhood.

Adapted From Joel Goldsmith's "Realization of Oneness" Chapter 6 - Living the Principle of
Impersonalization
Here are three principles of impersonalization to practice in order to help lift your life
into a higher atmosphere and come into a more harmonious state of being:

1. The truth about every person is that God constitutes individual being regardless of
whether they are presently showing forth an image of death, disease, lack,
limitation, or sin of any nature. This is the whole truth and nothing more need be
added to this principle. Therefore, realise that every person that comes into your
consciousness is made up of the essence of God and was formed as the very
likeness of God.

2. Impersonalize all error. You must look right at the person in question and
realise that there is only one nature and that is a Godly nature. Any discordant
appearance is not of a person. Until you can impersonalize error through the
realization of the true substance of all being you will forever be mired in sin because
of your acceptance of a world that contains God and error.

3. Realise that there is only One God Mind. There is no evil mind or carnal mind or
mortal mind -- the belief in these other states of being are merely that -- beliefs. Any
evil appearance belongs to that vast mental illusion of nothingness. Once an
individual can rise to the level of understanding that there are not multiple powers
then as far as you are concerned there will be no one left to be healed.

In all thy ways acknowledge God, and it shall direct thy paths....

Thou wilt keep you in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee.

Be satisfied with that until God reveals to you, from within your own
being, what God is, when God is, how God is. Let God reveal Itself to you.

This three-dimensional world, which is called the human or material world, really is
only a false concept of the Real and is never destroyed, in and of itself. It is seen
through! It is understood for what it is, and in that understanding comes the
dissolution of it. In other words, there is in reality no such thing as an objectified,
physical, mortal, material universe. The only universe that exists is the
spiritual real world of God’s creating, and the proof of this is that the moment a
degree of inner vision is awakened the world of God’s creating becomes the only real
world, and the mortal concept begins to lose reality and to disappear.

Each one must make the realization of an inner Presence a daily practice in their life.
Constantly there must be the reminder that this Presence within is greater than
any ‘problem’ that she faces in daily living or any situation she meets in the outer
world. With this must come the conscious realization of the principle… that gives us
our ultimate freedom… "I have overcome the world." To reach a state of
consciousness where the world has no effect on you… where you function
completely through spiritual law. - Man Was Not Born to Cry

Whenever I am first presented with any form of error, I "quickly realise" that I am
not dealing with persons or conditions: I am dealing only with a suggestion or a
belief in a selfhood separate and apart from God. Then I immediately drop all
concern for the appearance and go within to commune with God. From then on I
rest and relax in God's Omnipresence. - Conscious Union with God

In The Infinite Way our function is to immediately turn away from any and every
problem that presents itself to us. Our function in this message is not in the area of
improving matter. Our function is the attainment of the awareness of the Presence
of God. The realization of God's Omnipresence is our goal. We then rest in the
inner realization of our "spiritual identity" as the only Law, the only Life
and the only Reality. This is how we behold the dissolving of all illusory problems
that present themselves to us. Not by trying to remove them but by "knowing
that they are not there because Only God is there." - Awakening Mystical
Consciousness

If your business is lost, if your house or your family is lost, in three days-probably
not literally three days, but in a short length of time -I in the midst of you will raise it
up if only you can be still, not resist the evil, not fight the danger that threatens you,
and let that I that you are, that I that is your true identity, take over. Whether the
problem comes in the form of sin or disease, lack or drought, depression or business
recession, it has only the "arm of flesh."

Sometimes the mesmerism of the world is so strong that almost any person may
come under its influence, but as long as she maintains her Oneness with the Source
of Life which is I AM, even though temporarily her "temple" be wrecked, in three
days it will be raised up again. - (Releasing the Spiritual Glory) - The message of The
Infinite Way is wholly dedicated to admitting the presence of the Christ into
consciousness, and letting It transform us from the human sense of life to the
spiritual, not merely changing a bad human sense of life to a good human sense of
life.

Our interest is not in that direction. Our interest is in surrendering the whole of
material sense, even when it is good, and receiving in exchange our Divinity.
The goal of The Infinite Way is to become the son of God, not merely a healthy
human being, a good human being, or a wealthy human being, but rather to show in
our daily experience our spiritual nature, that which actually was given to us in the
beginning: "the glory which I had with thee before the world was," the spiritual
glory. That is what we are praying for. - The Mystical I

In meditation you are never treating a person or a condition. In meditation you are
"realizing" the Truth that whatever the problem is that is presenting itself to you is
"the arm of flesh," an appearance or nothingness. - Realization of Oneness

Regardless of what problems present themselves to you in your experience the

solution is always in your ability to Be Still and feel the very Presence of God.
In proportion as you can relax in an inner conviction that this Presence is the
"only reality" will you behold the problems of this world dissolve of their own
nothingness. - Man Was Not Born to Cry

To remove any problem in your experience you must "see through" the belief that it
has presence or power. There is only one demonstration to make in the message of
The Infinite Way and that is the demonstration of the Omnipresence of God.
Never pray to remove a problem or a condition but rather rest in the realization of its
nothingness. - Realization of Oneness

Function Of Mind Part 1 From – Tape 399-1 1961 Los Angeles Closed Class – Function of Mind – Part 1
By Joel Goldsmith

Q: When we attain pure Spirit will we have a mind?

A: I don’t know, I don’t know. And all of these have to do with the subject of mind
and the confusion that has arisen out of the statement that mind is not God…
thought is not power. It is an impossibility to make a statement that God is
this or God is not this because God being infinite is beyond any capacity to
define, analyze, or explain. Anyone who would attempt to explain what God is
has just gone far beyond anyone who has ever lived. And they’re going to introduce
probably a new era, because it is not possible.

It is possible to experience God. As a matter of fact that is the goal of all of our
work. It is possible to know God aright, it is possible to be consciously One
with God so that there is no place where God leaves off, and we begin. But
it is not possible to define, analyze, dissect, or describe God.

With mind that is something different—we know all about mind. Mind is an
instrument of awareness: through mind we know, we become aware; with mind we
reason, we think. Therefore, mind must be an instrument or an effect—it cannot be
a cause. Mind cannot cause anything. And the reason is I am behind the mind.
When I say “I,” I’m speaking now of “you.” I am behind the mind; I can think
through the mind and with the mind; I can reason with the mind and through the
mind; I can use the mind. And therefore I am greater than the mind.

And you want to know something, that even as a human being, I am greater than
the mind. Because a human being can control his mind if he sets out to, wants to, is
willing to study and practice. A human being can use his mind for a reasoning
purpose, a thinking purpose, a contemplating purpose—therefore, even a human
being is greater than their mind.

Now then, when we come to this next point, it settles once and for all the fact that
mind can never be God. Mind can be the instrument of either good or of evil. You
can think good thoughts with your mind or bad thoughts; you can perpetrate good
deeds or bad deeds through the instrumentality of your mind. Mind can be the
awareness of something good or something evil.

Now try to imagine God in that light, and you’ll see how utterly fantastic it must be
to think of God as mind. If mind is the creator of thoughts, and we can have good
thoughts and evil thoughts, then God is certainly not mind. God is too pure to
behold iniquity … God is light and in It is no darkness at all. In other words, when
you penetrate beyond mind, you are in the realm of neither good nor evil; you are
in the realm of Pure Being.

The Mystical Realm Translated From – The Infinite Way Letter May 2002 Taken from Tape 209 The
Mystical Realm Translated

Now watch this. If you think that God is going to do something to carnal mind,
you lose your metaphysical demonstration. You may get well but you’ll have to go
back to materia medica to do it. You will not work out your salvation through Truth if
you expect God to do something to evil, if you expect immortal Mind to do
something to mortal mind, if you expect Spirit to do something to matter, if you
expect spirituality to do something to materiality. You have got to see, and you’ve
got to see it in this minute, that there are not opposites.
There is not God and evil. There is not immortal Mind and mortal mind. There
is only One, and that One is God. And everything that you’ve been thinking of as
evil is illusion. Everything that you’ve been thinking of as evil is an appearance, a
mental image in thought, without any substance, any cause, any reality, or any law
to sustain it.

And do you not see why our healing work suffers, because we’re trying to get
rid of a sinful person, or get rid of a sinful habit, or we’re trying to get rid of a
disease? We’re even trying to get rid of a fear. Nonsense. Fear all you like, there’s
nothing in it. It has no power whatsoever, except the power that you are willing to
give it by fearing it. In and of itself it can’t have power if God is infinite Power. And
that’s certainly a simple thing to understand.

There cannot be opposites. God is infinite. Now take all your sins and all
your diseases, and all your lacks and all your limitations, and all your bad appetites,
and throw them in the waste basket. Stop fearing them, let them disappear of their
own accord. And they will. They’ll fade out of your consciousness because they have
no sustaining powers of their own. It’s ghost mind that’s sustaining them.

The ghost mind is sustaining the disease, poverty, lack, limitation. Of

themselves the lack cannot stand. And that is why when you reach a practitioner
who will not battle error, who will not rise above it, who will not fear it, you have
reached a practitioner who will do healing work for you. But as long as you have a
practitioner who is going to go work on mortal mind, or going to sit up first to
remove your fear, just make up your mind you’re in for a long siege – unless nature
takes over and heals you in spite of the practitioner. And that happens, too. Nature
is a good operator in the human scene.

1959 Hawaiian Village Closed Class Tape 264 Side 2 Living the Principles of Mysticism & Healing by Knowing the
Truth By Joel Goldsmith

So it is, if I’m faced with a storm and I realize:

God made all that was made, God is the activity of the sun, the moon, the stars, the
planets. God is the activity of this earth; if it weren’t for the activity of God, there
wouldn’t be cattle on a thousand hills, there wouldn’t be crops in the ground or oil or
iron or steel, and there wouldn’t be fish in the sea and birds in the air. All of these
things testify to the fact that the activity of God is infinite and omnipresent, always
going on. Ah, but I’ve just been told about this storm. Yes indeed, I don’t doubt it
either. I don’t doubt it. Another form of mesmeric suggestion; another activity of the
carnal mind that would claim to operate as a condition when it’s only a mental image
in thought, without life, without law, without being.
And that’s contemplative meditation, but you can also call it treatment; you could
also call it prayer; you can also call it an inner communion. We use all of those terms
interchangeably. But contemplative meditation means that we are contemplating
truth; we are contemplating God, or we are contemplating the nature of God, or
we’re contemplating the nature of error. We’re contemplating it, inwardly, silently,
peacefully, understandingly, and that is really that contemplative meditation is our
prayer or our treatment.

Now, there is another form of meditation which is the one beyond contemplative
meditation. Usually after you have indulged contemplative meditation, as I have just
done, you come to a place where the thought stops and you just sit there at peace.
Now there are no words and there are no thoughts. I’m sure you’ve all had the
experience sometime or other of sitting this way with your mother: neither one
talking, neither one thinking anything, but just at peace. I know that husbands and
wives often have the experience. They don’t have to talk; they don’t have to think.
They sit together just in a peaceful communion.

And so it is that after the contemplative meditation or the treatment, there usually
follows a few moments of just this silence, peace—no words, no thoughts—complete
peace. And usually it will last for a few minutes, and then end with a deep breath or
a feeling, sometimes a message. Oh, it has an infinite variety of ways of ending, but
the whole idea is that that latter meditation is your actual communion with God. The
contemplative meditation is really your conscious knowing of the truth or treatment;
but when you’ve gone beyond words or thoughts, then you are in the stage of
complete meditation, silence.

There’s another stage beyond that. Often, after you come to the place where you
can meditate almost at will, and remain for quite a while in meditation, you pass
automatically from meditation to communion, and that is when the Spirit, the
Presence Itself comes alive in you; and there is a presence called God or the Christ,
and there is you, and it is as if there were something going back and forth between
you and that Presence—not necessarily words, although sometimes there are words;
not necessarily thoughts; there are sometimes thoughts. But there is a something, a
feeling—as if there were a motion going back and forth between you and this
Presence. That’s communion—there is a me and there is this presence of God.

And then there is the final stage. After communion has become a part of one’s
ordinary everyday living, it gradually deepens into the experience where there’s no
longer a communion because there’s no longer two. I somehow disappear—you
disappear and there’s nothing left there but God; and for as long as you are in that
conscious union, there is no you; there is only God. When you come back to
yourself, you realize that you’ve been away somewhere, and that this other being
was the only being that exists.
That’s the mystical experience; that’s the complete marriage; that’s what’s described
in the Song of Solomon. It’s the complete mystical marriage, where God, the Father
and God, the Son become one, and there’s no more Son; there’s only God, the
Father. Those are the experiences you read about where the mystics have
transcended the human sense of life and are living in the complete awareness of the
spiritual realities.

You never know where you’re going, do you? Never, never, and you never will while
you’re on the spiritual path. If you have in mind constantly these major principles,
you must, yourself, come to a complete conviction that God is, and this means that
harmony is, that the entire kingdom of God is at peace and is at-one with God. And
then realize that our only disturbance is caused by whatever it is that has convinced
us there are two powers. And when we begin to understand the fleshly mind or the
arm of flesh or the nothingness, that’s when we dissolve the pictures of sense.

That is why the practitioner, who, when he’s called upon, doesn’t rush like a fireman
to get his hat and coat and run out to see the patient, will do the best work; while
the one who makes that grab to get out there in a hurry is probably going to lose his
case quickly. The one who can realize that nothing’s going on in the kingdom of God
about which I need to be disturbed, and that which is going on to sense isn’t real
and has no law to support it, and no power of continuity; and in that silent
contemplation of that, the mesmerism is broken and the picture disappears with it.
And that’s how healing work is accomplished.

Be sure that in your own being you have given up all thought or belief that you are
going to get something from God that God isn’t already giving you. Be sure that
you’re not looking to God for something, but rather that you are understanding that
all that God is is flowing now; all that God has is pouring forth now. God is! God is
“closer than breathing, nearer than hands and feet.” God is the same yesterday,
today, and forevermore, so don’t annoy God. God is. The Lord is my Shepherd, I
shall not want. I don’t have to go to God for supply. The Lord is my Shepherd, I
shall not want. But it is that contemplative meditation on this subject that makes it
real to me—sitting with that twenty-third Psalm and reading it and contemplating it.
The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want; He leadeth me beside the still waters; He
maketh me to lie down in green pastures. I don’t have to annoy God with my wants
or needs, and there’s no use anyhow.

And I might as well get used to that idea, and you might as well get used to the idea
that all of the evils of this world are nothing but pictures in mind, and when you
know this, they begin to dissolve. They begin to dissolve the very minute you know
the nature of error. All evil functions in this universal carnal mind, this universal
mesmeric mind, and since it isn’t law and hasn’t law, since it isn’t being a presence,
since God didn’t ordain it, since God doesn’t maintain it or sustain it, stop fearing it,
stop fighting it. Resist not evil; put up thy sword. Be at peace—God is. And then
you’ll find how this spiritual healing work is really accomplished.

Study & Meditation #72 From Joel Goldsmith-1960 New York Closed Class (2:2A) Tape 360

“I” am and all that God Is, I am and all that the Father hath is mine. All embodied
within the “I” that I am. Then I rest. Rest in this Word.

Don’t be afraid of appearances. Don’t be afraid of the “armies of the aliens”. Be

assured they can only come so far and no further. Be assured they can’t devour you.
Be assured they are only the “arm of flesh”. They are only temporal power and so
do not fear appearances!

Don’t fear the mirages on the desert. Don’t fear lack or limitation. Don’t fear what
mortal man can do to me, because the Kingdom of God is within me. The Kingdom
of Allness is within me. I have the Lord God almighty. I have IT…and I know I have
IT because I only have to say “I”…and there IT IS!

From the book - The Infinite Way Chapter 11 – The New Horizon By Joel Goldsmith

#1 of the chapters Joel says every Infinite Way student should know as well as their own name.

The New Horizon

The sense which presents pictures of discord and disharmony, disease and death, is
the universal mesmerism which produces the entire dream of human existence. It
must be understood that there is no more reality to harmonious human existence
than to discordant human conditions. It must be realized that the entire human
scene is mesmeric suggestion, and we must rise above the desire for even good
human conditions. Understand fully that suggestion, belief or hypnotism is the
substance, or fabric, of the whole mortal universe, and that human conditions of
both good and evil are dream pictures having no reality or permanence. Be willing
for the harmonious as well as the bad conditions of mortal existence to disappear
from your experience in order that reality may be known and enjoyed and lived.

Above this sense-life, there is a universe of Spirit governed by Love, peopled with
children of God living in the household or temple of Truth. This world is real and
permanent: Its substance is eternal Consciousness. In it there is no awareness of
discords, or even of temporary and material good.

The first glimpse of Reality—of the Soul-realm—comes with the recognition and
realization of the fact that all temporal conditions and experiences are products of
self-hypnotism. With the realization that the entire human scene—its good as well as
its evil—is illusion, come the first glimpse and taste of the world of God's creation,
and of the sons of God who inhabit the spiritual kingdom.

Now, in this moment of uplifted consciousness, we are able, even though faintly, to
see ourselves free of material, mortal, human and legal laws. We behold ourselves
separate and apart from the bondage of sense, and in a measure we glimpse the
unlimited boundaries of eternal Life and of infinite Consciousness. The fetters of
finite existence begin to fall away; the price tags begin to disappear.

We no longer dwell in thought on human happiness or prosperity, nor is there any

longer concern about health or home. The "wider, grander view" is coming into
focus. The freedom of divine being is becoming apparent.

The experience at first is like watching the world disappear over a horizon and drop
down from before us. There is no attachment to this world, no desire to hold onto
it—probably because to a great extent the experience does not come until a great
measure of our desire for the things of “this world” has been overcome. At first we
cannot speak of it. There is a sense of “’Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended”—
I am still between two worlds; do not touch me or make me speak of it because it
may drag me back. Let me be free to rise; then, when I am completely free of the
mesmerism and its pictures, I will tell you of many things which eyes have not seen
nor ears heard.”

A universal illusion binds us to earth—to temporal conditions. Realize this,

understand this, because only through this understanding can we begin to lessen its
hold on us. The more fascinated we are by conditions of human good and the
greater our desire for even the good things of the flesh, the more intense is the
illusion. In proportion as our thought dwells on God, on things of the Spirit, the
greater the freedom from limitation we are gaining. Think neither on the discords
nor on the harmonies of this world. Let us not fear the evil nor love the good of
human existence. In proportion as we accomplish this is the mesmeric influence
lessening in our experience. Earth ties begin to disappear; shackles of limitation fall
away; erroneous conditions give place to spiritual harmony; death gives way to
eternal life.

The first glimpse into the heaven of here and now is the beginning of the ascension
for us. This ascension is understood now as a rising above the conditions and
experiences of “this world” and we behold the “many mansions” prepared for us in
spiritual consciousness—in the awareness of Reality.

We are not bound by the evidence of the physical senses; we are not limited to the
visible supply; we are not circumscribed by visible bonds or bounds; we are not tied
by visible concepts of time or space. Our good is flowing from the infinite invisible
realm of Spirit, Soul, to our immediate apprehension. Let us not judge of our good
by any so-called sensible evidence. Out of the tremendous resources of our Soul
comes the instant awareness of all that we can utilize for abundant living. No good
thing is withheld from us as we look above the physical evidence to the great
Invisible. Look up! Look up! The kingdom of heaven is at hand!

I am breaking the sense of limitation for you as an evidence of My presence and of

My influence in your experience. I - the I of you am in the midst of you revealing the
harmony and infinity of spiritual existence. I—the I of you—never a personal sense
of “I”—never a person—but the I of you—am ever with you. Look up!

IW Morsel – God’s Work Is Done

The Art of Spiritual Healing P.20 By Joel Goldsmith From - The Contemplative Life

By Joel Goldsmith Page 70 – Across the Desk

Every day, give sufficient time to a contemplative meditation embodying our major
principles of healing. Realize that our goal is the conscious awareness of the spiritual
Presence, the attainment of "My peace," the remembrance of Thy grace as our
sufficiency. Understand that He is closer than breathing and that He performeth that
which is given us to do. Feel within yourself that the invisible Spirit goes before you,
that It never leaves you nor forsakes you. Acknowledge that in every phase of your
daily life there is a divine law and life governing your every activity.

In this contemplative meditation, give God the first fruits of your day, give Him love
and gratitude, give Him recognition and joy. Then realize that His grace is present
with men everywhere, to bless, forgive, establish, and re-establish. Finally, ponder
the meaning of Omnipotence, Omnipresence, and Omniscience.

In this same contemplative meditation, look at the evils that appear in "this world"
and, regardless of how many appear or what forms they assume, impersonalize
them by your understanding that these are the mesmeric pictures of sense, pictures
of the carnal mind or the belief in two powers. Since they are not ordained of God
and have no law of God to sustain them, they dissolve of their own nothingness.
Only that which is of God has law and life. All else is illusion. Understand that since
God is one, there is but one power; and therefore, there are no powers to overcome
or destroy. "Resist not evil" because you understand the illusory nature of
appearances.
Remember that in prayer the words themselves count for nothing: it is the
understanding and feeling behind the words that constitute the power. Finally,
realize that the function of the Christ is to break the attachment to "this world" - not
to increase the things of this world. This is the way whereby reality is attained,
freedom from concern about appearances, and freedom to live.

Now we are attuned and prepared to hear His word. Now we are ready to enter His
kingdom.

Be at peace. My Spirit comforts and prospers you. My grace is thy fulfilment.

From – The Mystical I By Joel Goldsmith P. 63 The Mystical Path Is Practical

Sometimes when a teacher or practitioner tells a student that they are keeping their
health, keeping their supply and their companionship away from themselves, they
may ask, “How?”

Then they must be told, “You will not open the door of your consciousness and
admit Me, I. You will not admit the I that is knocking there. You are looking for
another God, or you are not looking for God at all, but for some fruitage, some
benefit from God. This you will never find.”

God does not give health; God does not give supply; God does not give peace; God
does not give security. God is all of these: “I am the way, the truth, and the
life….I am the resurrection.” The I does not send these or give these: the I is
these, the I embodies these. When you open the door of your consciousness and
admit I, you will find the Presence—at first slowly and gradually, because none of us
could take it all in one leap—but you will find that that Presence flows out from you
in the forms necessary to your daily experience.

That is why the mystical path is the most practical way of life that has ever been
known. The world will try to tell us that the materialistic way is the most practical,
but if you look at history I think you will agree that materialism has not given us the
way. Even if you look at the countries that once had a favourable balance of trade
with a steady inflow of gold, you will find how the scene has shifted and that many
of them do not have it any more. Why? Because everything out in the world is as
fleeting as a shadow.

But if you have opened your consciousness to I and have realised that I in the midst
of you is God—that I in the midst of you is this Allness—then if for some reason your
health, your home, your family has left you today, it makes no difference. This I is
the resurrection.
Once you realise that I in the midst of you am God, you will discover then that
the lost years of the locust are restored. Everything that has ever been taken from
you because of your ignorance of God is now returned to you, and twice over. None
of this is possible, however, except to those who open the door of their
consciousness and admit the I that is standing there knocking.

Study & Meditation #6 From Joel Goldsmith 1954 Honolulu Lecture Series (2:1) Tape #66 Side 1

As you look out at the world through the soul, you behold God. You don’t behold
perfect men and women. You behold God appearing AS the Son.

Let us consider the statement that “I and the Father are One.” This is equally true
when I see you. Then I see the Father that sent you, for you and the Father are also
One.

But I must be sure that I am not trying to see you humanly as a good human, but
rather I have forgotten your good qualities and your bad qualities. With my spiritual
vision then I see only God as your being, God as your life, God as your soul, God as
your spirit and God as the substance of your being.

All Error

All error is a universal belief which we accept and therefore manifest. It is this
acceptance of universal beliefs which causes you to believe you are sick or sinful.

From - The Master Speaks by Joel Goldsmith Excerpt-Chap 2 Reality of Spirit/ White Poodle

Does wrong thinking then appear outwardly as sin, disease and death? No, it does
not. It appears merely as an appearance or a belief in that, and you accept that
image or belief as if it actually were out there. In other words, can a person who is
hypnotized into believing that there is a white poodle on the platform, ever produce
a white poodle there? No! All the hypnotized thinking in the world will not produce a
white poodle. It will only produce an appearance, or belief, which they say is a white
poodle. Wrong thinking will never produce sin, disease or death, because there are
no such things. You are not a creator. Only God is a Creative Principle, and It only
creates in Its own image and likeness.

Therefore, your wrong thinking and the world’s wrong thinking will never produce
sin, disease or death. It will only objectify that belief as an illusory picture like our
white poodle, and then look at it and say, “How am I going to get rid of it?” It is not
even here. There is no such thing as sin, disease or death. And all the wrong
thinking in the world that you can do will not produce any. But the universal belief in
a selfhood apart from God does produce these erroneous pictures, which we see as
claiming to have substance and law and reality – which they have not. All they are is
as unreal as the white poodle that the hypnotized person believes they are seeing.
Remember, they are not seeing it. THEY BELIEVE they are seeing it.

Therefore, whenever you are confronted with any form of disease, sin, death, lack or
limitation, please be quick and realise, “That is a fake mesmeric picture, and I do not
have to do anything about it.” With this you can very well have an instantaneous
healing. And even if you do not, your sticking to that truth will ultimately remove it.

We must realise that there is no disease; there is only mesmerism; there is only a
hypnotic picture appearing as a disease, which we are accepting in our thought as a
disease. Spiritual healing is not using the power of good to overcome the power of
evil. Jesus answered the impotent man: “Rise…. and walk” (John 5:18 ). This was
not using a power to heal disease; it was saying, “There is no such power.” He did not
use the Power of God to do something to Pilate or to the crucifixion. He said, “Thou
couldst have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above”
(John 19:11 ). Then he let them crucify him – and then he proved it.

A spiritual healer is not one who develops a technique of using truth to overcome
error; of using treatment to overcome disease. The spiritual healer is a state of
consciousness, an individual, who knows that God Alone is the Reality of all Being,
and that anything else is a state of hypnosis. And merely the recognition that she is
dealing with a state of mesmerism, rather than with a person or with a condition, is
the healing consciousness.

You are separated from your good, or seem to be, through ignorance. If this were
not so, all human experience would be seen as divine.
The Spiritual Interpretation of Scripture. P.52 By Joel Goldsmith

From – Consciousness Transformed By Joel Goldsmith Page 548 The Bread You Cast On The Waters

Self-surrender does not mean one-half the things most people think it means. It only
means surrendering the things you think you want. Whatever you are looking for in
life, surrender it, because it is a barrier to the major attainment.

The secret is this: The gifts of God are not material they are Spiritual. That is the
secret. There is no way for a human being to know the nature of God's gifts,
because the human being has only to look around to see what others have and
judge by that - and that is not the nature of the kingdom of God.

"My kingdom is not of this world." One of the greatest helps in healing others is
having a conscious remembrance of that when you go into prayer. Think what would
happen if you could eradicate from your thought the kingdom of man and go into
your meditations in the same way explorers originally went to the North and South
Poles, not knowing what they would find. If you could go into your meditations
knowing, "I do not know what to pray for, because I do not know what the
kingdom of God is like and I do not know what God has to give," you would
have great success.

Very often it really shocks me when I am called on for help in serious cases and I
remember that God does not care two hoots. I think of all the people dying from
accidents or cancer or polio, and God doing nothing about it. Yes, it shocks me, but
out of that shock comes the ability to say: "I do not know what I am going to You
for, but here I am." Think how useless it would be to go to God to save someone's
life when others are dying untimely deaths. Think how horrible it would be to go to
God for supply for someone, when hundreds of people are starving. If you can
eliminate from your thought the idea of saving people's lives, bringing them supply,
or getting them out of prison, and realise: "Thy grace is my sufficiency, and I
do not know what thy grace is," the miracles take place in your experience.

It helps me to know that God is Spirit, because then it frees me from all attempts to
draw forth anything of a material nature from God. God is Spirit, and then I have to
rest on that. Whatever God’s grace is, whatever God's gift is, it must be
Spiritual. It appears to us, when it comes, in some material form, but you know it
is not material. It appears materially because we still have enough material concepts
of the spiritual kingdom, but it is not. It is not that a sick body has been made well;
it is that the body of God has been revealed. In our ignorance we say, "My
body has been made well." No! We have received God's body. And if you could
only see supply the way it is, you would know it is not money. You are still "painting
spiritual gifts" with a material form. As a matter of fact, the kingdom of God is
incorporeal; therefore, God's gift is incorporeal.

When you say, "This is more or better matter," you have not recognized: "This is
still Spiritual, in spite of appearances." There was a man in whose heart a small
valve disappeared, and the doctors said no man could live twenty-four hours without
it. He lived over thirty years! Why? He was not living through a material heart, but
through the grace of God, which did not need a material heart. And one of our
patients who was blind has complete eyesight today - but she has no eyes. She
"sees without eyes." Why? She received God's grace of sight - not in the form of
physical eyes.

1958 Infinite Way Letters P.131 by Joel Goldsmith

The Art of Spiritual Healing P.20 By Joel Goldsmith Study & Meditation #3
From Joel Goldsmith – 1962 Pacific Palisades Special Class (II:2)

Nothing enters your experience except through your consciousness. Whatever

it is that you are to experience in your life you must experience through your
own consciousness. There is no outside God and there is no outside devil.
There are no outside laws. Whatever it is that is operating in you is operating
through and in your own consciousness.

There is one of two things. You either have a consciousness of Truth or a

consciousness of ignorance of Truth. If you are ignorant of Truth, you are not
made free. If you know the Truth, the Truth will make you free.

Therefore, it is knowing or Consciousness. You must consciously know the

Truth, not sit around waiting for some mysterious God to do something for
you because you are charitable or kind or moral. It won’t work. It is your
abiding in the Truth. Your abiding in the Word Silence and letting
the Word Silence abide in you. Your abiding in God and letting God
abide in you. You are the one who is doing it!

Infinite Way Letter October 1955 By Joel Goldsmith The Invisible Nature of Your Life The Secret
Place of Realization
It is not necessary to take thought for your life (that is, consciously direct it)
for the same reason that the tree does not have to take thought for
producing its fruit: its spiritual identity, being God, operates without the
necessity of conscious or anxious thought.

This, of course, does not in any way mean that we are to stop planning and
conducting our affairs in a normal manner, nor does it destroy the human
mind and activities. It simply means that instead of humanly setting about to
direct your affairs each day, the first step is to retire into a period of inner
meditation, and in this silence and peace receive the assurance and
awareness that the Infinite Invisible Spirit of God is working in you, for you
and through you—then It will give whatever right thought, direction and
guidance is needed for your experience.

Recently I received an urgent call from a student, and I asked that he wait
one hour before going ahead with what he had in mind at that instant—wait,
wait one hour, wait until I had received the assurance of the Presence of God.
Always wait, meditate, ponder, until you receive that assurance, and then go
ahead. Once you have learned the practice of meditation up to the point of
contact before venturing on any of your daily affairs, you will find that you
will be led to take the right human footsteps.

As the contact was made, the ever-available Presence of God takes over and
reduces the human footsteps, and directs the steps you are to take. While
you take them, God performs the work that is given you to do; It goes before
you to prepare the way and to make the crooked places straight, to do
everything necessary for your protection, guidance, direction and support.

Once you come to the place of trusting the action of the Infinite Invisible,
never will you take a human step without its inner assurance, and then you
can be certain that you are on the right path. Even if you should take a wrong
step or make a mistake, it will be corrected before any damage can be done.
At times, in our class and lecture work, the period of meditation lasts much
longer than is usually the case. There is a reason for this: the meditation did
not come to the point of release, to the point where It had taken over, and so
there had to be a period of patience and waiting.

Should I begin to speak before It comes, the only thing you would hear would
be my stored-up memory of Truth, in which there is no power whatsoever. I
could talk for hours, but unless a message comes forth out of the
Consciousness of God, imbued with the Spirit, it has no substance, no
activity, no life, no healing. It would not be the Word of God: it would just be
that which I remembered, and that is not the Bread of Life. In the words of
the Master, “My doctrine is not mine, but God that sent me.” And if I wait
until the answer comes from within, the message is spontaneous. Although
you may have heard the words before, the Spirit is flowing, and it is now the
Word of God, which is quick and sharp and powerful. It is this Word of God
which produces harmony in the visible world.

Before venturing forth upon your daily affairs, your function is to be sure that
the blight of human consciousness does not touch your crop, but that you are
imbued with the covenant that was given in the beginning: “Be not afraid,
neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever
thou goest.”

IW Morsel – Every Grain

Every grain of spiritual light that we attain is meant, not for ourselves, but
that it may be used for the benefit of human consciousness in general, until
human consciousness is entirely dissolved, and nothing remains but that mind
which was also in Christ Jesus.

A Parenthesis In Eternity P.345 By Joel Goldsmith IW Morsel – No Rise of Error

The point that I would make is this: error did not have its rise in you or in
me; it did not have its rise in wrong thinking; it did not have its rise in hate,
envy, or jealousy. It had its rise in the acceptance of the belief that there are
two powers.

Realization of Oneness P.43 By Joel Goldsmith Study & Meditation #2 From Joel Goldsmith –
Chicago Closed Class (III:2)
At every moment you are determining what comes into your experience by
the truth that is kept operative in your consciousness…or the lack of truth. If
we walk around without truth and just think worldly thoughts, then we are
under the law and we have to take a portion of good and of evil.

If we walk around ignorant of truth we have to pay the penalty. When we

walk around with Truth active in our consciousness, this is abiding in the word
and letting the word abide in us. But be sure you know what the truth is! The
answer is, “I am the truth!”

Once you realise I am not searching for truth, I am not seeking for truth, I
am the embodiment of Truth, then as you meditate you let this Truth
announce Itself to ‘you’. Then it will come to you from the depth of this
infinite storehouse of Truth, “I am the Truth!”

Infinite Way Letter October 1955 By Joel Goldsmith THE INVISIBLE NATURE OF YOUR LIFE

That I am, which is immortal, is likewise infinite, and with this understanding
you will realise that you are never exhausting your supply, your life, your
strength, nor your span of years. The only “I”, exists as God-
consciousness, and to see God as the “I” of your being (your
individual consciousness) ends the periods of drought in which not only
your supply seems to vanish, but your body also.
As you perceive this point of your true identity as the Consciousness which
permeates the body, which uses the body as an instrument or vehicle, you
will come into the experience that is witnessed every day in nature: the bark
falls from the tree, new bark appears, but the tree remains. Through this
activity of Truth in consciousness you will eventually see that daily this body
dies, and daily it is renewed and that always this body will remain in strength,
in health, in vitality, and in youthfulness.

When you perceive that you exist as consciousness, from that consciousness
is received the word that was covenanted when you came out of the Egypt of
spiritual darkness and ignorance. This covenant is the word “I”. “I will never
leave thee, nor forsake thee.” “Lo, I am with you always, even unto the end
of the world.” As you emerge from darkness and ignorance into spiritual
wisdom, one of the first experiences is an inner assurance of a Divine
Presence.

Practically everyone who has had a spiritual experience has received some
form of a promise—an assurance of a Presence and Power, an assurance of
life immortal, an assurance of supply and protection.

“My Spirit remaineth among you,” is the first covenant that is made with us as
we come out of our religious superstition and ignorance. The Spirit, Presence,
Power and Consciousness of God remains with you as you, and you find that
“the glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former.”

Once the realization comes that “I” exist not as body, but as Principle, as
Spirit, as the very Consciousness of God, then, out of that consciousness, this
“house” is filled with glory. All that beforehand was covered with a drought is
renewed, and “the years that the locust hath eaten” are restored. In this new
consciousness, which is the realization of true identity, the Spirit of God, the
Christ, is upon you.

As you attain the realization of your true identity as an invisible life, no

longer do you identify what you see in the mirror with yourself. That is not
“I”—that is body, and as you realise this your body begins to change and
improve in form. Ignorantly we have been identifying this body as ourselves,
and through this false identification have made this body look as it does;
whereas, with right identification we quickly begin to change its nature so
that ten years from now it will probably look younger than it does at the
present time.
In every case of realization this is true to some degree. Out of the
consciousness of God cannot come age, limitation, weakness or death, and I
have witnessed many people in the advanced years of eighty and ninety who
were far, far from such appearance because of the degree of their realization
of this Truth. It is merely a question of realizing oneself to be God-
consciousness, rather than limited, human, material, mortal, finite
consciousness.

Every real and permanent blessing that comes into your experience must
come through a transformation of your consciousness. After you have been
taught, and lifted to some measure of realization, no longer must you be
deceived by appearances, but be able to see through every human being,
animal or growing thing, and know that what you are seeing is only the form
or body—that the True Self is invisible to sight.

There is an invisible activity of Truth in consciousness within each of us, and

that activity of Truth is constantly renewing and providing all that is necessary
for our earthly experience. There is only one Consciousness, and every
individual is this same God-consciousness; therefore, the degree of your
demonstration lies in the degree of your conscious realization of this Truth.
Great changes begin to come into your life, and the lives of others, as you are
able to recognize the Christ, the invisible, spiritual person of God in all whom
you meet.

Healings are brought about between practitioners and patients only by the
practitioner’s realization that God is an infinite, eternal and harmonious Life,
and that God constitutes individual being. It is all a matter of right
identification, and a steadfast realization of this Truth is all that is necessary.
If we think of each other as human beings who must be healed, corrected or
improved, we are just practicing a form of materia medica. Healings take
place when we withdraw from all attempts to heal, correct or improve, and
abide in the realization that God is individual being; that God is only
identity; that God is the Source; and that God constitutes your True
Being.

“Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed;
and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of
Israel? For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord
God: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye.” We all have the same
substance, the same life, the same inner activity; but the degree of your
individual realization of this Truth determines the degree of your
demonstration of it.
Your Source is infinite, but the degree of your realization of the infinite nature
of your Source determines the degree of your outer expression. “And be not
conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your
mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will
of God.

With my spiritual vision then I see only God as your being, God as your life,
God as your soul, God as your Spirit and God as the substance of your being.

From-Conscious Union With God By Joel Goldsmith P. 92 Recognize the Nature of Error and Attain
Mastery
The majority of people accept these universal beliefs at their face value, and
then their life experience is influenced by them. We, however, must train
ourselves to stop accepting world beliefs: Do not accept the suggestion of
threescore years and ten; do not accept the suggestion that a disease is
dangerous or serious. Remember, it is only suggestion.

Any belief can be set aside, but a law of God cannot be set aside. The law of
God is life eternal. The law of God is: “All that I have is thine”—all the
eternality, all the immortality. That cannot be set aside, but by becoming a
law unto your own being through the realization that yours is a God-given
dominion, the belief that you must die at any specific time can be set aside—
whether it is a doctor who says it, whether it is the Bible with its threescore
years and ten that says it, or whether it is the stars that say it. God gave you
dominion over the things of the earth, over the waters, over the stars, over
the heavens. God gave you, Its own individualized being, dominion, but you
must consciously exercise this dominion and not sit back and let
universal beliefs act upon you.

Remember that these beliefs, these universal beliefs—whether medical or

theological—do act upon you until you consciously set them aside. In other
words, every day of the year you are growing older, and unless you are
consciously handling that belief and realizing, “My life is God, therefore
ageless,” you do come under this human belief about age and you will come
to the place which is known as change of life, and eventually you will show
forth signs of age, because you will pass through all the various phases of life
in accordance with medical beliefs, until you yourself consciously take
possession of your life through your God-given dominion and realise, “No! My
life is God! Age and change are but medical beliefs or suggestions and do not
have to operate in or upon or through my consciousness.”

Thousands may fall at your left hand and tens of thousands at your right—if
they do not take hold of this universal truth. Everyone has the right, either by
choice or through ignorance, of going through life in their own way. You have
the right to take hold of your own existence and determine its course and you
do it in this way: When any form of error appears, be sure that you recognize
it for what it is, so that it does not fool you. Do not let it cause you to accept
a sick or sinful person and then try to reform or heal them. If you do that,
you will be the blind leading the blind.

God is the power that maintains and sustains the universe. God is the creative
principle, the law unto Its creation. By opening yourself to It, you will find It
operating in your consciousness as a law of fulfilment.

Invisible Supply P.45 By Joel Goldsmith Study & Meditation #119 1962 London Special Class (2:1)
Tape 495 Side 1 Nature of Spiritual Power

After the Master gave his three year ministry on earth and demonstrated the Father
within – repeatedly calling attention to the fact that “I of my own self can do
nothing, it is the Father within me” – it should have been clear that the Master was
presenting to the world that which always had been but had not been recognized. In
their midst was this invisible spiritual presence – which the Master called the Father
within. The second coming of the Christ will merely be the second recognition of the
Father within.

When we hear of spiritual power we think of it as something we can use. I don’t

have to use material power, I can now use spiritual power. No, No, No! That is
seeing through the same blind eye. No one can use spiritual power. When we refrain
from using power, it uses us. It performs Its will, not yours or mine. When the
Master said, “I of my own self, I can do nothing,” he didn’t mean I could do nothing
but use spiritual power. He means he could do nothing. Then he says, “The Father
within does the works”. Thy will be done, not mine.

“Be still and know that I am God.” I, the Father within. Be still. In quietness and
confidence spiritual power will manifest through you. Therefore, as you practice
meditation, come to a place where you can be still. When you can take no thought,
you will find then that all that the Father has of spiritual power is being expressed
through you. This power is not a power over anything or anybody.
We must live in the conscious presence of God. Our function on the spiritual path is:
Number one, to realise that God is closer to me than breathing, nearer than hands
and feet. God is my very own being, my very own mind, my very own soul and,
number two, I must know this truth about you. What I know about me, I must know
about you, and if I am not knowing this truth about my enemies, the first two steps
will do me no good.

Spiritual presence does not do something, it is something. It is Light. Because it is

Light, there is no darkness. It is divine. It is wholeness. In other words in the
presence, in the conscious realised presence of spirit, there is no directing it to do
anything. In that presence is fullness of joy. The temporal powers of your world are
only power to the three dimensional mind that lives by two powers. In the presence
of God, be assured, no greater power is power, and that is why we do not use
spiritual power.

Be still. Let spiritual power be. The nature of spiritual power isn’t power in the
accepted sense of that word. It is not a power that we use. It is immortal,
omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient – and because it is, you don’t have to do
anything to it or with it. Spiritual power is never to be used.

This is our lesson tonight: The nature of spiritual power and learning to refrain from
using it.

#44 – Wisdoms of the Infinite Way

In our beginning days of meditation, we pondered or contemplated God, the
qualities and nature of God, as we understood God. As we rose higher in
consciousness, we learned that any idea of God that we could entertain was
not God Itself, but was only a concept of God. Thus we entered the stillness
of mind leading to the deep silence of My peace – and experienced God.

From the book – The Infinite Way Joel S. Goldsmith Excerpt - From HAWAII HOTEL TALKS By Joel Goldsmith
August 24, 1963
The function of The Infinite Way is to bring you to the place where you live
by God - by the Presence of God not by statements of Truth. The one
demonstration you can make in The Infinite Way is the demonstration of the
Presence of God - that moment when you FEEL that "God is on the field."
Then you are living by Grace. Then you will realise: "Thy Grace is my
sufficiency in all things." Not that quotation but the actual realised Grace
or Presence is my sufficiency, and there is sufficient Grace present to
meet the needs of THIS MOMENT. Everyone wants God "ten years from now"
but, just as nature provides enough air in your lungs for this second, so God
is sufficient for THIS SECOND. And, as God's Grace never stops, you always
have enough Grace for this moment. There is no "future heaven"; there is no
"heavenly heaven."

THIS MOMENT is the only heaven there is. The only heaven there is, is living
in this moment, because only in this moment do you have sufficient Grace to
provide you with the spiritual bread, meat, wine, water even resurrection.
There is enough Grace present in this moment to resurrect your body,
marriage, fortune or business whatever the world says you have lost. As you
live in THIS MOMENT, that Grace becomes a continuing experience - bringing
about the fulfilment.

#38 - Wisdoms of the Infinite Way

Life is not at the mercy of matter.

From the book – The Infinite Way Joel S. Goldsmith From – The 1957 Infinite Way Letters –
January by Joel Goldsmith Out Of Darkness – Light
And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of
the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God
said, Let there be light: and there was light. Genesis 1:2

The light of God, the light of spiritual wisdom, enters consciousness only in
the degree of our own receptivity and devotion to it. It cannot force itself
upon us, nor can it come to us in any greater measure than we, ourselves,
permit. God is the full and complete brightness thereof, but it is for us to
determine the measure of the light we shall receive. It is not enough to say,
“I would like the wholeness of God,” when our actions disprove such a
statement. If we really wanted God above all things, we would provide
sufficient opportunity for God to fulfil Itself in us, so that we could receive the
fullness of God’s Light.

To a great extent many of us are still living in spiritual darkness. Although we

may all have experienced God’s grace in some slight measure, even though it
be in as slight a measure as is one grain of sand compared with all the sands
in the universe, nevertheless, we do not yet know the real meaning of grace.
Darkness is upon the face of the deep so far as spiritual health, spiritual
harmony, spiritual supply, spiritual relationships, and spiritual peace are
concerned. In acknowledging that spiritual darkness reigns, however, we
have arrived at that place in consciousness where we are ready to open
ourselves to the influx of spiritual light.

There is a moment in your life and in mine when darkness is upon us, and we
are without form and void. If, in that emptiness, we can become very still, we
shall feel the atmosphere of God envelop us, filling our whole being with light.
Then comes the assurance: “I will never leave you, nor forsake you. I was
with you before Abraham was, and although you have not known Me, I have
known you.

IW Morsel – Developed Consciousness

People of developed spiritual consciousness recognize that human thought is
powerless. Human thought is an avenue of awareness, but it is powerless.

The World Is New By Joel Goldsmith P. 222 From – Awakening Mystical Consciousness Excerpt –
Chapter 5 -P.72 by Joel Goldsmith The Invisibility of Spiritual Identity
This life I am experiencing is not my life but God’s life: infinite, eternal, and
immortal. This body that is my vehicle of expression is God’s body. If it were
mine, it would be separate and apart from God; and how would I preserve it?
But this is not my body; it is the body of God in one of Its infinite forms and
expressions. The government is on God’s shoulder to maintain and sustain
this body and its individuality unto eternity. It has promised us it will never
leave Its universe: God will never leave me nor forsake me. That does not
mean It will just not leave my soul. It means God will not desert my body
either. God does not desert my soul or my body because my soul and body
are one. The soul is the essence, and the body is the form.

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,” You will walk
through it with me, and I will find myself with the same individuality and the
same body. As my understanding of this grows, however, my physical sense
of body will take on an ever better appearance, not because the body
changes but because my concept of body changes. My body is always the
same: infinite, immortal, useful, vigorous, vital, and eternally youthful. My
concept of it may vary. I may accept an aging concept and show it because
whatever I accept in my consciousness shows in appearance. But if I accept
in my consciousness the truth that this body is the temple of God, formed,
maintained, and sustained by God, then I have a concept of eternality much
nearer the truth of being. So my body will maintain its matured appearance,
its matured strength, and its matured harmony. My body is eternal; only my
concept of it changes.
Each year our concept of body improves as we abide in the oneness of all life;
and as our concept improves, our appearance improves. God is the principle
of all that is: therefore, all that is, is eternal. Although we go through the
experience the world calls death, we will still be intact, perfect, whole,
complete, and spiritual, expressing as a form because there can be no I
dangling out here in space. I is always formed.

When you look at a tree, you actually believe you see a tree. So when the
leaves fall off or the branches die, you may think life is not eternal because
the flowers, fruits, or branches are dead and you have seen them in their
withered state. But you never see a tree. In fact, in all your life, you have
never really seen a tree. You have seen the effect or form of a tree, but the
tree itself is as invisible as you and I are.

If I want to see you, it is only in the very height of my illumined moments

that I can contact the reality of the you that is you, what you know when you
say, “I.” If you were to close your eyes right now and say, “I, Mary,” “I,
George,” or whatever your name is, you would know at once I could not see
you because that Mary or that George is nowhere visible. The body is not
you: the head is yours; the neck is yours; the arms are yours; all of the body
down to the feet is yours; but it is never you.

# 46 – Wisdoms of the Infinite Way

Seeking the objects of good, such as pleasures, things, and places, for the joy
of them is a barrier to spiritual unfoldment. Seeking only the realization
of God, pleasures, things, and places of joy naturally come into our
experience. Then our pleasure is greater in the realization of their Source.

From the book – The Infinite Way Joel S. Goldsmith Study & Meditation #11 1958 Manchester
Closed Class (4:2) Tape 238
A prayer is not complete until a contact has been made with God. This means
when we have become actually conscious of the Presence of God, there is a
feeling within us that God has declared Itself; God has uttered Itself; God has
made Itself evident in us. Then be assured, there will be answered prayer!
The reason there is not answered prayer is that we are not reaching God. We
must learn to “Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and Its righteousness” and
these things that you would pray for will be added unto you.

In that acknowledgement, we have sought the Kingdom and we have placed

our faith and confidence in an all-wise God. The next function is to rest and
be still. Then listen for the ‘still small voice’. For “the Lord IS my shepherd, I
shall not want”.

From – Realization of Oneness – Chapter 11 by Joel Goldsmith An Understanding of Immortality,

Basic to Healing
The Infinite Way begins with an infinite, ever present, omnipotent God. Its
premise is that there is no imperfection in any part of God or of God’s
creation, none whatsoever! God is perfect being, and so, therefore, is God’s
creation. No one was ever born, and no one will ever die; no one ever had a
beginning, and no one will ever have an ending.

One way to understand the continuity of life is through the word “I”. This I,
which is our identity, is actually coexistent as God. It is the eternal part of our
being. It has no knowledge of birth or death. It is that part of our being which
has existed for billions of years, and will continue to exist without interruption
for many more billions of years. As long as there is God, there will be a “you”
and a “me” because we are one with God: “I and my Father are one,” and not
two. The I which I am and the I which is God are one and the same I, and
therefore, I is immortal.

Very often, when we think of immortality, we think of life beyond the grave,
but we do not stop to realise that if there is any truth to immortality it must
also mean life before birth. We cannot be immortal if we have a life that ever
began: immortality is from everlasting to everlasting. God can no more begin
than it can end, and if God and I are one, the I of me, in that oneness, has
never begun and will never end.

Our identity remains intact, spiritual, and perfect, not only after the grave, but
it was so even before we were born. Our life from the cradle to the grave
is that experience which has been likened to a parenthesis, but when the
parenthesis is removed we live in the full circle of immortality. It is true that
while we may be aware of ourselves as living only in this particular
parenthesis, slowly or rapidly moving from birth to death, actually it is
possible for this parenthesis to be removed and for us to become aware of
our true identity as one with the entire circle of life and its immortality and
eternality.

Once we can realise ourselves as I, separate and apart from personality,

separate and apart from a physical body, as I, the incorporeal, spiritual I, we
will have the secret of the eternality and immortality of life: without
beginning, without birth; without ending, without death.
Since the I that God is and the I that we are, are one, we can understand
that the infinite perfection of God is the infinite perfection of our being.
“Daughter, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.” This does not
refer to material things: dollar bills, bank accounts, property, fur coats, or
automobiles. “All that I have” means all the immortality, spirituality,
integrity, all the life, all the perfection, all the holiness of God. All that
is of God is of you and of me because the I of you and of me and the I of
God are one and the same I, and all the qualities of God are the qualities of
spiritual, eternal, immortal person: of you and of me.

This is the premise in Infinite Way healing work, and if we want to heal, we
must first of all remind ourselves of this truth. We must be conscious of the
truth that the I of you and of me and the I of God are one, and all that
constitutes the I of God constitutes the I of you and of me, for we are forever
one with the Source. All that is of God is ours: all the immortality, eternality,
spiritual perfection, harmony, peace, justice, infinity.
Infinite Way Letter September 1955 By Joel Goldsmith Part 1 of 6 THE DEEP POOL OF YOUR BEING

It is well, at this point of our spiritual unfoldment, that we stop for a moment
and take stock of ourselves. Just what is the specific principle we are trying to
prove, and from which we expect great things? First of all, the principle is that
God is individual consciousness; God is the consciousness of the individual;
God is your consciousness and mine. Many facets of this principle have been
presented in the Message, but one point, above all, that may be called the
vision of The Infinite Way, and from which proceeds all else, is the principle
that God is individual consciousness—be it human, animal, vegetable or
mineral, God is the consciousness thereof.

Scripturally this is revealed in such passages as, “I and my Father are one; I
will never leave thee, nor forsake thee; Daughter, thou art ever with me, and
all that I have is thine.” When you understand that “I” is God, you come into
the understanding that God, the Infinite Intelligence of this universe, is your
individual Mind, Life, Soul, Being, Spirit, Truth and Consciousness. That “I”,
which is Divine Consciousness, is wherever you are, and there is no way of
escaping It. “Whither shall I go from thy spirit, or whither shall I flee from thy
presence?”

This point must be very clear, because now it is revealed that, “…the hour
cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship
the Father….God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in
spirit and in truth.” “The kingdom of God is within you”—there is no need to
seek a holy place.. “The place where thou standest is holy ground”—right
where you are is your abiding place in heaven.

All attention is centred on the kingdom of God, within you, and there is
nothing to fear, even in hell, because this Divine Consciousness, or God, is
your healing, protecting, sustaining and maintaining influence. Although we
use terms such as healing and protection, they are not literally true, since in
this realization there would be nothing to heal or from which to be protected,
except the erroneous belief that you are a human being set off by yourself
and in some way out of contact with God.

God is your own being, and therefore the infinite nature of God’s
being is the infinite nature of your own individual being. This forever
separates us from any sense of reaching out to a God somewhere, and
prevents us from fearing powers “out there..” It matters not whether it is
something physical, mental, moral or financial, “there shall in no wise enter
into it (God-consciousness, which is your individual being) anything that
defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie.”

This is absolute and complete Truth—the Truth the saints and sages have
tried to reveal to human consciousness throughout the centuries. But one
thing has prevented the world from accepting and living this consciousness,
and it is this point: whereas all of this is true, it is of no avail to anyone
except in proportion as all people attain an inner realization of it. The things
of God are foolishness with man, and so all of this Truth is foolishness so far
as we, as human beings, are concerned, and is of no avail to us. It becomes
of avail and becomes the life of your life only when you have attained that
first spark of inner illumination which reveals that this is the Truth.

If you were to stand before Jesus Christ, the only reason you could be sure of
an instantaneous healing is that He had attained more of this realization than
you had. The only reason you can go to a spiritual healer for help today is
that they have attained a greater realization of the truth of your true identity
than you have attained. But you can go and do likewise as soon as you have
arrived at some measure of that same realization. If, individually and as
groups, we were sufficiently able to live with this Truth, in silent meditation
and receptivity, the history of the world could be changed by the peace, the
harmony, the healings and the successes that would come out of the united
silent consciousness of “two or three gathered together in my name.”

One moment of the silence that thunders in Godly language is heaven,

and out of that silence an infinity of healings can take place. Wherever one is
desperately reaching out for a realization of the Christ or for the help of God,
that one could tune-in to that silence and find peace. This silence, which
has such tremendous power, is the consciousness of God when the
human sense is still; when the human mind is not thinking, not trying to make
a demonstration, to get or to achieve something. When the human mind is
still, the Divine Mind is in active expression in the entire universe.

“The kingdom of God is within you,” and there is a centre of your being which
is like a deep, silent pool of contentment—a deep well of silent Spirit. When
you are at that centre you have found heaven, and it is out of that deep inner
silence, which the Master called “My peace,” that the healings and harmonies
and joys flow forth, and all those who have tuned-in to that Consciousness
receive the benefit of It.
End Part 1
Infinite Way Letter September 1955 By Joel Goldsmith Part 2 of 6 THE DEEP POOL OF YOUR
BEING - continued
Let each one realise that God is individual consciousness, and that the
Presence and Power of the Godhead can be brought to bear in your families,
your communities, and in your nations, in proportion as you can settle back
into this silence and let it come through!

To my knowledge, no one had gone that way before, no one had prepared
the ground, and I had no knowledge of it at all—only a conviction, an inner
conviction that if I could just touch the centre within myself, which is God,
that that would release It into expression, and It would take over my life and
the lives of those who looked to me for help. Even after the first glimpse of
realization it was weeks before the second occurred, but gradually it became
my entire life-experience until now it is literally true that “the words that I
speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he
doeth the works.”

Twenty-five years of this inner meditation and contact makes it a simple thing
for me to lift those who come to me so that they also can achieve it. The
many chapters in the Infinite Way Writings devoted to “Meditation” and
“Communion,” and the consciousness that went into their production, makes
it easier for students to achieve this peace of inner silence, and the united
meditations and consciousness of our students make it easier for the rest of
the world to achieve conscious communion. One by one, students are
attaining a measure of ability to touch that centre of their own being and get
a response to it. Ultimately, the time will come when everyone will be able to
touch this centre of their own being, at will, and find God’s Power and God’s
Grace flowing from her into the world as an atmosphere of harmony and
healing, of peace and joy to all whom she meets.

More and more, the word “meditation” is appearing in current literature, and
more and more you read: Meditation—meditation is the way. Do not be
misled by any of these articles. Meditation, in and of itself, is not the way!
The way is contact! Meditation is only a way to achieve an inner silence in
which the contact is made. Meditation is the way to get back into yourself, to
that deep well of contentment at the centre of your being, which is God, and
where the personal sense of “I” disappears. When your meditation results in
contact the way has been found to let “the imprisoned splendour” escape,
and only then do you understand Paul when he says, “I live’ yet not I, but
Christ liveth in me.”
The first step in reaching this centre of your being is refraining from the use
of the word “I”. How foolish it is to associate the personal “I” with anything
having to do with God, because it is utterly impossible for an individual to be
any kind of a contributing factor toward the presence and Power of God. As a
matter of fact, the opposite is true: only in proportion as you can nullify this
sense of “I” can God-consciousness take over and fulfil Itself. To some
extent, the word “I” has been excluded insofar as it applies to prayer or
treatment: no longer would you use prayer as a means toward influencing
God in any manner.

Since God does not deal in material thoughts or things it is of no use to have
a material wish or desire or hope. When you have learned to go to God with
no desires you have eliminated the word “I”, and that, in itself, is one of the
biggest steps you will ever be called upon to take. In going to God you are
going only for a spiritual blessing and benediction, and until you stand
in the Presence of God you have no way of knowing the nature of the spiritual
kingdom and its blessings. “Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have
entered into the heart of men, the things which God hath prepared for them
that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit
searcheth all things, yes, the deep things of God.”

Through the Spiritual blessings of God you are released from the thoughts
and the things of this world, and only in this release are God’s blessings
known and made manifest, but never in the sense of anything acquired or
received from God. In no way are you taken out of the world—you are in the
world, but not of it. You have found heaven, and you are free, and it is then
that you begin to understand the profound significance and poetry of “My
peace, still waters, green pastures.” “…for we know not what we should pray
for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings
which cannot be uttered.”

Until the moment of contact we do not know the nature of living in a spiritual
world, nor do we know the nature of a spiritual blessing. Certainly we can
conceive of it, but even at our stage of development most of us are just one
step ahead of the orthodox world which looks upon God as pouring out
material blessings in the way of increased supply or health or happiness. God
does not operate that way: those are the added things that appear in our
human world when we have been released from the thoughts and things of
this world.

By just letting the Spirit of God work Its wonders within us, we would
come into a state of consciousness in which we would find that the bounties
of this world are as free and abundant as leaves on the trees, without taking
any thought about them. But any sense of the personal selfhood, such as the
use of “my” understanding, “my” spirituality, “my” integrity, would block or
end the demonstration of spiritual good.

Spirituality, understanding and integrity are the Grace of God, individually

expressed, in proportion as there is no personal sense of selfhood to block it.
Your part is to “die daily,” and then as the Grace of God is manifest as your
individual experience you witness the multiplication of the loaves and fishes,
the healing of the sick, the raising of the dead. Had the Master not been able
to step aside sufficiently to know that “I can of mine own self do nothing,”
and had the word “I” entered His demonstration in any way, the miracles
could not have taken place.

Infinite Way Letter September 1955 By Joel Goldsmith Part 3 of 6 THE DEEP POOL OF
YOUR BEING - continued
This brings us back to our first point: God is individual consciousness (the
consciousness of you and me) and therefore the storehouse of infinity is
within you. You cannot draw it forth—you can get out of the way, make
contact through Silence, and let it flow forth!

In order to understand this properly it is necessary that you first overcome

time and space. You must remember that none of this has anything to do
with yesterday. None of yesterday’s virtues will help you achieve this
realization today, and none of yesterday’s sins will prevent proving it today.
Your yesterday’s, whether good or evil, have nothing to do with today’s
spiritual unfoldment. You must rise in consciousness above any sense of
limitation, and each time you turn to the within in an earnest sense of self-
forgiveness and Self-realization the yesterdays are blotted out. “Though your
sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow,” and because the nature of
the Christ is forgiveness, until seventy times seven, even were you to sin
again you will be “as white as snow” the moment you return.

As long as you earnestly and sincerely follow this path of the purpose of
“forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those
things which are before,” and “…press toward the mark for the prize of the
high calling of God in Christ Jesus,” even though mistakes cling and must be
risen above again and again, nevertheless there will come that day of
complete attainment when there will be no going back to the yesterdays.
You do not live on yesterday’s manna. It is necessary that you make this
contact almost hourly throughout each day until that glorious moment when
It takes over and says, “I am with you,” and eventually on to the end of the
road where It says, “I am you.” Until that day comes your life is a continuity
of Christ-experience—every day you must go to the storehouse for fresh
manna. Day by day the manna fell, but always there was a Moses to turn to
the inner kingdom to bring forth that manna. Day by day the Christ healed,
but there was a Jesus to turn within to loose those spiritual powers. Great
blessings are coming into the world today, but day by day there are those
who are learning to turn within to bring forth these blessings.

God is your storehouse of good. God is your individual consciousness;

therefore, your individual consciousness is your storehouse of good. Many,
many times each day you learn to make your contact with that infinite
storehouse at the centre of your being and let it flow, with no concern as to
the form in which it will appear in your experience.

In the same way that there are no yesterdays, there are no tomorrows.
Tomorrow, when it comes, is today. Right where you are in this second of
consciousness, today, is the only place you can be, and this is the only time
you can be. You cannot accomplish this second of consciousness yesterday or
even an hour ago; you cannot accomplish it tomorrow. This can be lived only
in the very second in which you find yourself, here and now. There is never
any time when you can experience anything other than this second. And it is
up to you to make each second what this second is, in the same way that you
have made this second what this second is—by a turning within to your
Source.

There is no difference between the flow of God this minute or a hundred

years from now—it is just a matter of continuity of the contact. The Life of
God will never end, and although we cannot remain here one minute after the
call has come to labour in other vineyards, as long as there is a work for us
on this plane of existence we can maintain ourselves here by this contact, and
maintain ourselves in all the vitality of strength, youth, health and wholeness.
But we can only do it by the contact, because It is the Presence and
Power that does the work.

“There’s a divinity that shapes our ends,” and, since this is literally true, the
question arises: Why does it not do so? The answer lies in the fact that we do
not make our contact with that divinity, because when we do, It brings
forth whatever it is that we are to do in life. If the Finger of God
touched you, It could (if that were Its Will) take you out of wherever you are
and put you into a completely different life and existence, and the past would
fade away. My own experience has witnessed three entirely different lives—as
a business man, a healer, and now as a teacher and author of spiritual Truth,
but I, personally, could never have brought any of these about.

We are not all intended to be the same thing: there must be men of business
and science, engineers and builders, teachers and artists—and it is the
Infinite Intelligence at the centre of your own being that determines your
particular expression; but you will never know it unless you make the contact.
In the words of Paul: “For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to
another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; to another faith…to
another the gifts of healing…to another the working of miracles; to another
prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another diverse kinds of
tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that
one and the self-same Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.”

There are those, however, who, by Grace of God, have made that contact
without any directed effort or conscious activity on their part. Those are they
who already are artists, teachers, composers, writers, one thing and another.
They have made contact with their Source and are in their rightful places, but
even they can increase and improve the quality and character of their output
by a greater degree of conscious contact and union with their Source.

The way of this work is not to influence anyone to follow it, or try to carry it
to the world at large. The way is to be joyous and free in sharing it with those
who, by their eagerness and desire and willingness to sacrifice, indicate that
this is a way toward which they have been led.

Although thousands of people can become interested, when it comes right

down to the individual sacrifice necessary to achieve this inner realization, the
numbers rapidly diminish. But you can be assured that since God is your
individual consciousness, with faithfulness, persistence and perseverance, you
can reach the kingdom of God that is within you, and in this contact it flows
forth into your experience and takes over your entire life-experience—Mind,
Spirit, Soul, body, business, home—undertakings of any nature.
Infinite Way Letter September 1955 By Joel Goldsmith Part 4 of 6 The Deep Pool of Your Being
Consciousness Expresses Itself
From the days when man was limited to travel by foot, to this present day
when the only restriction is a six-hundred-mile-an-hour jet-plane, there has
been an activity of God at work in human consciousness to free man from the
limitations of time and space. Man cannot hasten the day, nor can he retard
it, because it is an activity of unfolding consciousness. Those who try to hold
It back are destroyed, and those who are Its willing instruments are in tune
with the Infinite.

This evolutionary process, which is the activity of God, unfolding, disclosing

and revealing Itself, applies to our individual lives. If we are willing
instruments and open ourselves, through meditation, we permit this activity
of the Spirit to take over our Mind, Soul and body. If we block It by personal
sense, personal will and personal desire, It breaks us. Most men of ambition
end up on Elba, because the force of God destroys them; whereas, a
conscious realization of that same force of God would lift them to the very
heights of world recognition.

Throughout the history of the world, wars and oppression and slavery have
been brought about by the failure of men to perceive the nature of God in
consciousness. Freedom is never gained through war or aggression, but only
by an unfolding consciousness which is taking place all over the world. There
is a force greater than man, opening out Its Hand and setting all peoples free.
We are merely instruments of that unfolding consciousness.

In this present era, the world is wondering and speculating much about life
on other planets, and in this connection there is one thing that we must
remember: God fills all space; there is no place where God is not. If there are
other stars or planets in this universe, they were made by God, and therefore
they must be embraced in God-consciousness, and they must manifest life,
although there may be different degrees and forms of life. Were you to go
back three or four thousand years what different forms and expressions of
life, what different degrees of culture and civilization would be found! There
can be no question that on other planets or spaces there is Life. There must
be, because God is, and wherever God is. Life is, because God is life!
As there cannot be a vacuumed life, there must be an expressed life, and that
expressed life again would be individual forms of life.

Eventually, we may find that in these outer reaches of space there are
civilizations as backward as was the earth several thousand years ago, or we
may find them advanced thousands of years beyond where we are now. We
have no way of knowing anything about that, but we do know this:
Consciousness is God, Consciousness is Life, Consciousness is that which is
formed—therefore, wherever God is, there is life! Time and space are filled
with God, and whatever forms of consciousness exist, whether behind or
ahead of us, are determined by things over which we have no control,
because Consciousness is forever expressing Itself.

The degree of experienced life is in proportion to the degree of consciousness

unfolding. Regardless of where you are at this moment in life, that represents
your degree of God-life, expressed and unfolded into conscious expression.
This you can change at any time by opening out your consciousness for a
greater flow. There are no yesterdays and there will be no tomorrows. There
is only this instant in which you recognize that there is an activity of God
operating in human consciousness, and that you are merely an instrument of
Its operation and expression, and it is through your frequent periods of
meditation, communion and contact that you permit It to have sway.

Infinite Way Letter September 1955 By Joel Goldsmith Part 5 of 6 The Deep Pool of Your Being
Only those who experience a deep, inner spiritual contact or realization can
pray effectively. This may, at first, seem a shocking statement to those who
have been brought up in the old teachings that we must turn to God, pray to
God, ask, beseech God for this, that and the other thing. However, as we
meditate and ponder this subject of effective prayer, we find that if we do not
receive what we pray for, we pray amiss. Certainly we are all well acquainted
with the sort of prayer that is “praying amiss.”

In The 1954 Infinite Way Letters we find this quotation: “Praying is a

spontaneous unfoldment of Truth from within our own being. Prayer is a
spontaneous revelation of God in action. Prayer is our degree of receptivity to
Truth. Prayer is the avenue opened within ourselves to receive the Love, Life,
Truth, and the unfolding Wisdom of God.”

Prayer, then, is the spontaneous flow from the Father within, to our outer
consciousness. Prayer is the recognition of the nature of God as
fulfilment. Prayer is the realization of our Oneness with God. ‘I and my
Father are one,’ is the relationship established in the beginning. Oneness with
God is the divine state of our being, but only prayer can reveal it.” Through
different states and stages of development we have been taught various
concepts about the nature of God and the nature of prayer, but suddenly we
come to a point in our experience where we realise that no longer will any of
these concepts suffice. We come face to face with the realization that nothing
has been given us on the nature of God or the nature of prayer that is of any
value whatever in this particular moment; and it is then that we must begin to
strip away the centuries of false beliefs and ideas that have built up in our
consciousness through being subjected to the world’s concepts concerning
these two great points.

No one can tell us anything about the nature of God or the nature of prayer.
We come to realise that no matter what we knew yesterday or this morning—
in fact, if the realization we had at those times would literally raise the dead,
now we must be renewed. In this moment we must come to a deeper
realization of the nature of God and the nature of prayer, and as we go within
our own consciousness we realise that we must give up any idea that there is
a God to whom we can pray; that there is any God who can be cajoled,
wheedled or influenced to bring about any personal desire, or desired effect.

We must consider carefully all of the different concepts that have pressed in
upon us. It is true that at certain stages of our development we have been
taught to pray for things, for ideas, and then for spiritual realization, and
there was nothing wrong with those prayers at the particular time. But now,
today, this very minute in this moment in eternity, none of the old ideas or
concepts are of any avail, and they must be weeded out and cast from us. As
we turn within in stillness and in silence, with an utter lack of old conceptual
beliefs and old ideas, we begin to realise, even in a small measure, the fact
that there is a God that is “Closer than breathing, nearer than hands and
feet”; and that we live and move and have our being in that Infinite, Invisible
Spirit.

We become conscious of it the moment that no old ideas or concepts, no

desires or wishing interfere with the listening that is going on within us. As
we sit in this silence, listening, attentive, waiting for the Word of God to well
up in us, we find a new dimension coming into our experience regarding God,
the nature of God and the nature of prayer. Surely this experience is prayer in
a sense that is more real, more definite than any we have heretofore known;
surely in this moment we are developing to a higher degree that inner
listening ear that is the reality of communion. And so in this stillness, in this
lack of mental and physical effort, in this moment of peacefulness, of letting
go, of relaxing, we reach that point at the centre of our being, and make
contact with the Infinite Invisible that is within us.

It is then that a transformation takes place, be it great or small in our eyes,

and where once there was concept, erroneous concept, now there is, in some
degree, knowledge of reality—calm, confident, serene knowledge in the
realization of the nature, the activity, the essence and the being of that which
we call God, in this moment of contact, in some small measure we have
really, truly, experienced God, and it is this experience and this alone that
constitutes effective prayer.

Only in the depths of an inner contact within the consciousness of an

individual who has been sufficiently attuned to this Infinite within can one
arrive at effective prayer. Only in the degree in which we, as individual
consciousness, lose ourselves and become one in conscious awareness of the
Infinite Invisible within us, are we able spiritually to transcend, to see through
the things in our experience. There is no other type of effective prayer as we
know it. The reason the prayers of saints and sages and practitioners seem
more effective than ours is that they, through Grace, and through a process
of inner development, have arrived at a state of spiritual consciousness which
permits of constant, continuous contact, communion or union with God
within.

This is the test of our prayer: if we make our inner contact, if we gain our
“click,” if we feel the gentle warmth within, we know that we have been
experiencing effective prayer. Whenever this inner contact is not made, our
prayer is in the realm if the letter of Truth, rather than in the realm if the
Spirit of Truth, and it does not bear fruit of a spiritual nature. Again I quote
from The 1954 Infinite Way Letters: “When we hear the still, small voice of
God, when we receive the inner impartation or the feeling of the Presence of
God, we are receiving the benefit of prayer, and whatever may be the
necessary form of demonstration will take place in our experience.” Effective
Prayer - (A student) End Part 5

Infinite Way Letter September 1955 By Joel Goldsmith Part 6 of 6 The Deep Pool of Your Being
The Ninth Commandment
The Ninth commandment, “Thou shalt not bear false witness against
thy neighbour,” is a Cosmic Law, but what does it mean? Certainly this
does not mean that we are just not to spread rumours and gossip about our
neighbour, but that we are not to hold our neighbour in humanhood. If you
say, “I have a fine neighbour,” you are bearing false witness against him just
as much as if you said, “I have a very bad neighbour,” because you are
acknowledging a state of humanhood, sometimes good and sometimes bad,
but never spiritual.

To bear false witness against your neighbour is to declare that he is human,

that he is finite, that he has failings, that he is something less than the very
Son of God, and so we violate Cosmic Law every time we acknowledge
humanhood. Ever time we acknowledge him to be other than the Son of God
we are bearing false witness against him.

In the violation of that Cosmic Law we bring about our own punishment. God
does not punish us—we punish ourselves, because if I say, “You are poor,” I
virtually say, “I am poor.” There is only one I and one Selfhood, and whatever
truth I know about you is the truth about me. If I accept the belief of poverty
in the world, that reflects itself upon me. If I say, “You are sick,” or “You are
unkind,” I am accepting that there is a quality apart from God, a being apart
from God, an activity apart from God, and in that way I am condemning
myself, because there is but one Self, and ultimately I am punished by my
own conviction—bearing false witness against my neighbour.

We come to a place of not bearing false witness against our neighbour when
we come to the realization that the Christ is our neighbour; that our
neighbour is a spiritual being, the Son of God, just as we are. He may not
know it, and you may not entirely know it, but the truth is, I am Spirit, I am
Soul, I am Consciousness. I am the very manifestation, the very expression of
God, and so are you and so is your neighbour, whether he is good or bad,
friend or enemy, next door or across the seas.

Cosmic Law is revealed throughout scripture, and in the Sermon on the Mount
(Matt. 5,6,7,) the Master gave us a guide and code of human conduct to
follow while training and developing ourselves to Spiritual or Cosmic
Consciousness. The Infinite Way does not deal with good humanhood, in and
of itself, nor is it a correction of one’s human conduct. It deals entirely with
understanding the spiritual values of reality; in the adoption of a spiritual
code which automatically results in good humanhood.

Good humanhood is just a natural consequence of spiritual identification. It

would be impossible to understand that Christ is the Soul, the Life of
individual being, and then quarrel with your neighbour or slander him. We
place all of our faith, trust and confidence in the Infinite Invisible, and we are
not considering human circumstances or conditions. Then, when we do come
to human circumstances and conditions, we see them in their true
relationship. When we say, “Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself,” we are
not speaking of human love or affection or friendliness: we are holding our
neighbour in spiritual identity, and later we come to see how that is carried
out in the human picture.

IW Morsel – Form or Effect In the spiritual way of life we do not live by form or effect.
I Stand On Holy Ground P.113 By Joel Goldsmith From-Conscious Union With God By Joel
Goldsmith P. 62 From-No Mental Cause for Disease
It shocked me to learn that error is not result of a person’s thinking because I
had always been taught that disease is caused by wrong thinking, but I
discovered in the first year of my practice that this is not true. How could a
baby suffer because his parents were indulging in wrong thinking? No, he
suffers from universal beliefs which his parents do not know how to handle.
People do not contract colds, “flu,” and polio in their “seasons” because of
their wrong thinking: These are universal beliefs which they do not know how
to meet, and if they cling only to this God-is-love business without learning
how to handle these beliefs, they will be as badly off as if they had never
discovered that God is love.

The weakness in metaphysical practice is that most metaphysicians like to talk

about how wonderful God is, but dislike intensely telling anyone what to do
about the appearance of sin and disease. Would there be a single person
experiencing lust, animality, fear, or false appetite, if he knew how to deal
with it? There is a law of God that annuls these, but you must know what that
law is. Just saying, “God is love,” does not do it because we already have too
much of that in the world—even among people who are sure that God is love.
Never forget that every evil circumstance in your life can be prevented.

Nobody is a victim of anything but his ignorance of the laws of life. God never
intended anyone to suffer from old age; God never intended that there be
cripples, alcoholics, or drug addicts, and there is no reason in the world why
there are, except that the world has never learned how to meet these
problems and destroy them in human belief.

Evil does not exist as a God-created thing. God does not punish people even
though the old Hebraic law taught that the sins of the fathers shall be visited
upon the children. When the Hebrews saw how unjust such a law was,
however, they rescinded it two hundred years later: “…they shall say no
more, The fathers have eaten a sour grape, and the children’s teeth are set
on edge.” Yes, they learned three or four thousand years ago not to accept
such a cruel idea as that the sins of the fathers are visited upon the children,
and certainly we should be at least that far advanced. And yet we have
accepted laws of heredity which bind us to the belief that the ills of the father
are visited on the children, the grandchildren, and the great-grandchildren.
We must rise higher that that, and we can make a beginning by
understanding that there is a law of God in operation in individual and
collective being, in individuals and in groups, races, and nations.

IW Morsel – World Consists of Effects

What you behold in this world consists of effects, but there is not anything
that you can behold that is not the result of an inner activity. You release this
inner activity which goes out into the world invisibly and then produces visible
fruitage.

A Parenthesis In Eternity P.359 By Joel Goldsmith From – The Mystical I By Joel Goldsmith P. 33
Imparting I.
I in the midst of you is mighty, but the moment you create an image, you
have I and an image. Therefore, do not have any “I” but the I that you
declare: I. Be satisfied with the word I. Some day you will hear the Voice say
to you, “I,” and when It does you will know that you have come face to face
with God. You have come to know God aright. But you will not be able to tell
your neighbour about it, or your child, your husband, your wife, or your
parents, because that would be trying to bring I down to the intellect again,
down to the mind.

If I succeed in imparting I to you through this work, it will be because I have

realised that I am not a man or a teacher, but that I am divine Presence; and
also because you have been drawn to this work by I to receive I, to receive
the unveiling of the I which you are. Both of these are necessary.

In writing of the unveiling of God, the unveiling of Truth, you might think that
there is a God that could be unveiled and set before you. Such is not the
case. The “unveiling” reveals nothing that can be seen, heard, tasted,
touched, or smelled, nothing that can be thought or reasoned, and therefore
it should not seem strange that in order to know God aright you must come
to a place in consciousness where you know nothing, the place of unknowing.

14 - Wisdoms of the Infinite Way Be sure that your prayer is not a desire to improve God’s universe.
From the book – The Infinite Way Joel S. Goldsmith From – The Mystical I By Joel Goldsmith
Excerpt of Chapter 1 / I Stand at the Door P. 12 Open the Door of the Consciousness of the World
All the evil of the world has come about because of a sense of separation
from God. We have accepted man on earth and God in heaven, and thereby
have separated ourselves in belief from God, instead of being able to walk up
and down this world knowing:

I and the Father are so one that if I stand before Pilate, I can say, “Thou
couldst have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from
above.” Before Pilate, the greatest temporal power of the universe? Yes,
even he could have no power over us unless it were given him of God. Daniel
could walk into the lion’s den, and the lions could do nothing to him because
he held aloft the I and knew that I in the midst of him was mighty. You, too
can face any situation that arises in your life—anything from a family situation
to a national or international situation—if you can learn to sit quietly and lift
up the I. Lift up the I, and realise that as long as you are abiding in that I, as
long as you are abiding in that Presence no evil can come nigh your world.

In My presence is fulfilment. In My presence is fullness of light, and as long

as you have that Presence lifted up in you, evil not only cannot come nigh
your dwelling place, it cannot come nigh your entire world. We do not have
to wait for three billion people to learn this truth in order to save the world. A
little handful of us can uphold this I, can live with this I within us, and face
the world with It. Watch the evils of this world dissolve, the evils in personal
enemies, national and international enemies. But to witness this, somebody
must hold up the banner of I; somebody must admit the I that is knocking at
the door of the consciousness of this whole world seeking entrance.

Now let us go beyond each one of us individually and let us remember that
this I that is knocking at the door of the entire world at this minute and
begging to be admitted is God. What we must do—a little group of us—is to
open this world to the presence of I. Open the door and say, “Father, come
in, for in Thy presence there is no warfare. In Thy presence is peace. In Thy
presence is fulfilment.” Open the door of your consciousness. Open the door
of this universe and admit God, for this world is suffering from only one thing:
the absence of God.

All the while It, the presence of God, is saying to us, “I am standing at the
door begging, begging to be admitted.” All we have to do is open our
consciousness and say, “God, enter. Enter this world; enter human
consciousness.” Let us acknowledge that there is an I knocking at the door of
this world. Let us open the door and admit God, and you will soon see how
rapidly the sins, the diseases, the lacks, and the limitations of this world will
disappear.

In My presence is fulfilment. My peace I give unto you, but how can I

give it to you, if you do not admit Me into your consciousness? How can I give
it to you?

Open the door of your consciousness; open the door of the consciousness of
this world and let the Most High in. Then watch this silent, sacred, secret
Influence as It permeates all human consciousness and eventually reveals
peace. Peace will not come through man. Peace will not come through
treaties. Peace will not come through armaments. Peace will not come
through disarmaments. Peace will come only through opening the door of
consciousness and letting Me, God, in.

1960 TORONTO PRIVATE CLASS TAPE 335 SIDE 2 ADVANCING ON THE PATH By Joel Goldsmith
Whether we are holding back money in the thought that we have too little, or
whether we are holding back service or devotion, or whether we are holding
back gratitude or forgiveness, be assured of this, we are holding back if we
are lacking. Because there is no such thing in the heavenly Kingdom as
"getting". You are already the Child of God, and if a child, then an heir, and if
an heir, you are heir to all the heavenly riches; and, "Son, thou art ever with
Me, and all that I have is thine."

Now just imagine, if it were possible for you to walk around this city, holding
the hand of Jesus Christ, would you still be looking for something else beside
that? Would you be expecting still more good than that? Or would you not
feel....oh, no, that's as much as I can handle in one lifetime, to walk around
these streets holding on to the hand of Jesus Christ walking beside me. Will
you have something more important than that? You have the Christ, which
was in Him. The same mind that was in Christ Jesus is in you. And It is saying
to you, "I will never leave you nor forsake you. I will be with you unto the
end of the world. I am your meat and wine and water. I am Life eternal, your
Life eternal. I am the resurrection."

No, the reason for lack is the belief that supply must come to us from
without, instead of understanding that supply must flow out from us, from
within our own being. We start out every morning with the infinite Storehouse
of God, pouring Itself out into expression. And all we have to do throughout
the day is be sure that we give out enough, and take no thought about what
shall come in. Our entire thought must be how much giving out can there be.
And even though we can only give out pennies or nickels or dimes, at least let
us give that and do it joyously. And then look around for the other things, the
forgiveness that we must give out, the praying for others that we must do,
the loving of our neighbours as we would love ourselves.

And remember that all of this is giving, all of this is supply, all of this is
Something you have in your house and It must flow out from you. "House"
means consciousness. What have you in your consciousness; a little more
love, a little more gratitude, a little more service, a little more joy. And you
see that's one of the reasons asking God for anything, after God has already
given us Its own infinite Being; "Daughter, all that I have is thine;" is a waste
of time.

"We arrive at the place where one desire is only the Presence of God realised.
'Ask and it shall be given you' is now bothersome, except that the asking
need be for the holy Spirit which would interpret Itself as the thing needed, is
this correct?" You see it is correct, indeed, it is, as long as we are desiring
only the realization of God, the Kingdom of God, as long as we are
desiring only an inner communion with God, as long as we are desiring
only to tabernacle with God, to walk with God, to serve God. That is
the only asking that is necessary. And then the Spirit, in Its own way, fulfils
us, and always in accord with our immediate need.

"In the practice of healing is it wrong to make one's mind a blank in order to
eliminate error from consciousness?" I have heard it is dangerous. As a
matter of fact, it's not dangerous, it's impossible. There isn't anyone that can
make one's mind a blank. It has been tried by experts. It has been tried by
people for centuries. No one yet has accomplished it. Now, the mind
automatically becomes still, and without thought; you can't do that but it can
be brought about by you; and that is in the way that I gave at our first Class
session, through contemplative meditation.

As you go through the processes of contemplative meditation, keeping your

mind stayed on God, thinking of God and God's Grace, and God's
Omnipotence, Omnipresence, Omniscience, gradually you come to the end of
thinking. And then for twenty, thirty, forty, fifty seconds, you find yourself
completely without a thought. You haven't blanked your mind. Your mind has
come to the end of its thinking process for a moment, and enables you to rest
in a complete silence from thought. It doesn't last long, sometimes one
second, two seconds, ten seconds, and then you are back. But, those few
seconds were really enough to bring healing of any nature.

"Prayer - The Upward Dimension: Earthbound – Landlocked by Joel Goldsmith

God Must Be Experienced

Now, we know theoretically and we know intellectually that God is

Omnipresent, but this does not give us any power of God in our life just to
know that God is Omnipresent intellectually. There must be an experience
with God, an actual touching, an actual at-one-ment, or oneness. There must
be an actual impartation from God to you—not from you to God. You must
remember the nature of God. God is already infinite wisdom. Therefore, there
is nothing at all that you can tell God. Take no thought what you shall eat.
Why? Your heavenly Father knoweth what things you have need of.
Therefore, there is never any reason to go to God and tell God anything.

Now it is God’s good pleasure to give you the whole kingdom, so therefore
you never have to ask God. Now just remember this in your prayer that
prayer means that you are not going to ask God for anything and you are not
going to tell God what you need, and that really wipes out the old-fashioned
idea of prayer. And it gives you something new to work with, and yet no
formula. Because nobody can tell you how to pray. They can only tell you the
nature of prayer and then the rest must be spontaneous. The rest must be an
inner joy between you and God. But the joy must come from God to you.

From – Beyond Words and Thoughts By Joel Goldsmith Chapter 1 P.12 Excerpt- The Universal
and Impersonal Nature of God’s Activity

The activity of God is like light touching darkness. It does not do anything
whatsoever to darkness: it does not heal it, correct it, change it, or remove it.
It just reveals that there is none. That is what the activity of God is like. In
healing, It does not heal a disease: It just reveals that there is none. It does
not reform a sinner: It reveals God’s man, who never sinned.

There is that part of us which has never sinned, never been sick, was never
born, and will never die, and the activity of God is to reveal that man. To our
sense, that may remove sin, disease, or lack, but that is only to our limited
sense. It does not really do it any more than light removes darkness.

So it is that what we call a human being, “the natural man,” had an existence
only in the universal mind which is separate and apart from God. The whole
of the human experience is an imaginary experience, a dream-experience,
taking place in the universal mind which does not have its seat in God. The
proof of that is that in the moment that you can still that mind and open the
door for the Spirit of God to come in, that man is not there any more. That
man of sin, disease, and death is just as absent as is the darkness when light
touches it. We say that the “old man” has “died” and the “new man” has been
“reborn,” but where did the “old man” go? He did not go any place: he was
not there to begin with.

TAPE 341 SIDE 2 THE MEANING OF TRUTH TEACHINGS By Joel Goldsmith

The Presence of God is not in the mind, the Presence of God is not in
thoughts, the Presence of God isn't in mental powers. The Presence of God is
where God is realised and demonstrated. In other words, when you meditate,
regardless of what method you use or regardless of how many affirmations
you may use to get into the Spirit, if you meditate until there is an answering
response, until you feel within yourself a release or a rest or a relaxing, or
until you feel within yourself that the Presence of God is on the field, or until
the still, small Voice speaks to you, if you meditate until then, you have
released the Presence of God out into the world. It will do something to your
own mind, It will do something to your own body, but It doesn't stop there. It
goes out, and It does not merely bless those who are in this room.

Let me tell you of an experience that happened just two weeks ago today. We
were in London and I was giving two talks, one at 7:00 P.M. to a large group,
and one at 9:00 P.M. to a group of our sort of inner circle of students. Those
who have been with us enough years to really understand the Principles and
have a demonstrable understanding of them, and to be really dedicated to
our work. And during that hour of talk, following that first hour, I myself
received a tremendous uplift. I was "high in consciousness", if we may use
that term.

In other words, I was more or less absent from the body and present as the
Lord. It was a beautiful experience. But you can be assured that I wasn't
treating anybody or praying for anyone. I was merely giving forth a message
of Truth as it spontaneously came through me. But the very next day, I had a
telephone call of one patient in England that during that period was
completely released from a condition of mental unbalance which was causing
her to be incarcerated in a mental institute. But in that period of our work,
she was completely and wholly released.

When I arrived here in the States just a few days later, there was a letter in
my mail from a student in Canada, who had some time before asked for help
because she had become totally deaf in one ear. And evidently up to this
minute, the help had not been realised. However on this same Sunday, and in
those hours of this work in London, all of a sudden a complete release came
from her, or through her, and her hearing was restored, but in its fullness, in
its completeness. Then a few days later, came a letter from the West Coast,
telling me of a man who had asked me for help, and who during this period
had been completely freed of the presence and the pain of a cancer.
Now, this is what happens when any individual is in meditation and feels the
Presence of God. Not because the individual is a healer; God forbid that
anyone should ever believe that they have healing power or spiritual power,
for all Power is of God, not of man. But in the degree that a man, or woman
or child meditates and feels and realises the Presence of God, out through
them escapes this whole perfume and atmosphere of God, and It touches
those who have attuned themselves. In other words, it touches your relatives,
your family, your friends, your patients, your students. And it may not touch
all of them at the same time but it will touch those who are attuned and
ready for the experience of their uplift.

So it is! Every time that you meditate, every time that you have a period of
silence in which you are not seeking things, in which you are not trying to
demonstrate a home or companion or supply, you are merely
demonstrating the Presence of God within you, the minute you attain
that, an atmosphere goes out from you. And do not be surprised if you have
helped the situation in Africa, or the southern States, or the election in
England, or the election in the United States. Because wherever the Spirit of
God is, there is liberty.

And again, don't go back to what you have been taught about God punishing
or rewarding, because God's rain falls on the just and the unjust. And it may
very well be that those who are called the greatest "monsters" on earth today
may be the very first ones to respond to your Christ impulse. Why? They have
the greatest need, they have the greatest hunger, they have the greatest
awareness within themselves that something is missing!

It has been said, you know, in truth that it is easier to heal a sinner than a
saint, and it is, too. But the reason is, the saint is so blown up with their ego
and the idea of their goodness and their self-righteousness, that God simply
can't get past. Whereas the sinner has really emptied the vessel. He knows,
"I'm no good," he knows, "I'm not good, I'm not worthy, I'm not deserving."
He/she has emptied themselves out and made themselves ready....but God,
you come in and take over…and in that absence from self, be assured God
does. Don't you know, well, those of you who have had experience with
sinners, with crime in any form, you know the great hunger there is in those
people for something worthwhile, even if they cannot call it God.

When you overcome the concept of God as one who gives or withholds, or
one who punishes or rewards, and you begin to realise, why God is Being,
and God is Being closer to me than breathing, and nearer than hands and
feet. God is really the Almighty at the centre of my being. The Presence
within me is God. I am never separate and apart from God. And it really
makes no difference if I am the thief on the cross or the woman taken in
adultery, God is still closer to me than breathing, and ready to say, “Neither
do I condemn thee ... thy sins be forgiven thee."

Landlocked by Joel Goldsmith

This Body Is Not Me

We are earthbound and we are landlocked until we break out by going upward. Only
as our vision goes upward out of this body, out of this world of force, do we get up
into a free strata, a free realm, where we’re no longer body locked, landlocked,
earthbound, but where we are free souls. You know that all of this world, except the
mystics or those on the mystical path, are locked up in their bodies. Their body is
the most real thing to them. They’re fastened into it and can’t escape from it, and
that’s where their misery comes—being landlocked inside of the body, being
earthbound inside of the body and having no freedom.

The very first freedom that an individual attains is when they can look in the mirror
and say that this body is not Me. This body is not Me. I am Me. I, I am Me. I am Vg.
Not this body, this body isn’t Vg. I am Vg, and if the doctors searched from head to
foot they couldn’t find Joel inside of this body for I am not here.

And that was the great mystical statement: “He is not here. He is risen”. That’s the
symbology of the Resurrection. We are not entombed in this body. In our
Resurrection we rise out of the tomb of this body and realise I am Joel. I am not
body. I am Joel and I am not in a body. They could not search this body from top to
bottom and find me for I am not here. I do not live in a body. I live in
Consciousness. I live in God. I live and move and have my being in God therefore I
fill all space. I am here and I am there and I am everywhere.

I am where God is and God is where I am for we are One, and that one is not
limited to time or to space or to place. And that’s why the materialist fears death
because they think that with the end of the body, there comes an end of me. How
foolish! I’m not in the body. I never was in the body. I won’t live in the body and I
won’t die out of the body for I will never be in the body. And therefore, there is no
need to fear death because death is just checking the body at a weigh station while
we keep going on.
From – Realization of Oneness By Joel Goldsmith Excerpt-Chapter 1 Pure Being Page 18

If you have not learned from the message of The Infinite Way that the only good
you are ever going to receive is from within your own consciousness, then you have
failed to perceive the nature of its message and mission, which is that God
constitutes your consciousness and that through meditation you must draw forth
from within your own consciousness the allness and the fulfillment of life.

Infinity and immortality are made manifest as the consciousness of the individual,
and the name of this divine Consciousness, which is our individual consciousness, is
I. You must understand that you are not to direct this I, enlighten It, plead with It,
or try to be a master of It, but that you are to submit and yield yourself servant to
the I of your own being, so that your prayer is that I fulfill Itself as your individual
experience, that I be the Grace which is your sufficiency, and then let this I which is
your true Selfhood govern your life in Its own way.

When you then go into prayer and meditation, there must be no preconceived idea
as to what you want or how you wish your prayer to answered. There must be a
complete yielding as you daily realize, “Not my will, but thine, be done.” Do not go
to God with your thoughts and do not try to have God fulfill your way, because you
will fail. You must go to God, the divine Consciousness of your own being, the very I
which you are, with this prayer: “Reveal to me Thy way, Thy will, Thy thought, and
this, then, will be my way, my will, and my thought.”

From – The Altitude of Prayer By Joel Goldsmith Page 8 Excerpt-Selfless Prayer

When we reach the stage where we really are seeking God’s grace, and only God’s
grace, true prayer becomes a closing of the eyes and an inviting of God: "Search
me, God! Search my heart; my consciousness, and if You find anything wrong,
correct it. I do not care whether You reveal it to me or not, but correct it."

We are not making any promises to God about being good; we are not pretending to
God that we are some kind of angels. We are acknowledging that in our human way
we have faults, but that none of these is to interfere with what must become the
main theme of our life: “I must know God aright. I cannot finish this life without
knowing God because I cannot finish this life without fulfilling whatever purpose God
had for me in the beginning.

Study & Meditation #89 1961 Chicago Open Class (1:1A) Tape 407 By Joel Goldsmith

If a person could demonstrate nothing at all but the Presence of God, they would
find that they would have harmony in every department of their lives. There is only
one reason for your discord and mine, and that is the sense of separation from God.

The realization of the Presence of God immediately dispels the discords and
inharmonies. The object of our work is proving that it is possible to experience the
Presence of God and thereby the presence of harmony in health, supply, human
relationships and every other form of daily experience.

If you would understand this message correctly as the demonstration of Truth in

consciousness, you will never again think in terms of demonstrating a thing or a
condition or a person. Therefore, you will never be tempted to think in terms of
small demonstrations or large demonstrations. There is only one demonstration that
you have to make. If you succeed in demonstrating the Consciousness of the
Presence of God, that is your demonstration.
1960 TORONTO PRIVATE CLASS TAPE 335 SIDE 2 ADVANCING ON THE PATH By Joel Goldsmith
Part 3 of 4
Would you elucidate the following verse. “Among those that are born of
woman, there is not a prophet greater than John the Baptist; but he that is
least in the Kingdom of God is greater than he." Yes indeed this is one of the
cornerstones of The Infinite Way®, and I spoke to you about that also at the
opening session of this Class. Do you remember that I said that if you obeyed
the Ten Commandments fully and completely and perfectly, you would still be
a million miles away from heaven.

In fact, you wouldn't be a bit spiritual, not by virtue of obeying the Ten
Commandments. You might be spiritual in spite of it, but you would never be
because of it. In other words, no matter how (good) a human being you are,
that does not count one single bit in the Kingdom of heaven, and it doesn't
get you into heaven. All of the teachings that claim that good people go to
heaven are pure deception. It is not goodness that gets one into heaven, it is
spiritual illumination. And spiritual illumination can come to a sinner
sometimes more easily than the self-righteous saint. It's strange and it’s hard,
but it's true.

Now, John the Baptist, born of woman, meaning human being, was the
greatest prophet according to Jesus, in that he was a good man, a perfect
man, and he obeyed the laws fully. He lived strictly by the law, the letter of
the law. And there are loads of people who do that. But he that is least
spiritual is greater than John the Baptist. And so it is that a person who has
attained a even a grain of spirituality is so far greater in the Kingdom of
Heaven than even the best human being on earth, that there isn't even a little
space between them. There is a big space between them. This idea of being a
good human being and getting into Heaven by it, just is a wrong idea. But
how do we attain that least degree of spirituality that makes us greater even
than all of the good people in the world?

And the idea is revealed by the Master, Christ Jesus. Not whether you spend
all day Saturday, or Sabbath day, in church, not whether you go to holy
mountains or holy temples to worship, not whether you abstain from meat on
Friday, not whether you abstain from bread in the Passover season, not
whether you sacrifice, not whether you give tithes, none of those things count
in the spiritual scale. What counts in the spiritual scale is do you love the
Lord, thy God, with all thy heart and with all thy soul and with all thy mind,
and thy neighbour as thyself? Ah, there's the rub.
Actually accepting God as infinite and as all power, and not acknowledging
that even Pilate can do anything to us; the highest temporal law. Not
acknowledging that weather or climate can do anything to us, not
acknowledging that there are powers out in the world than can do anything,
but living continuously in the realization, "God, and God alone, is the Power
onto my experience," and then, "Loving my neighbour as myself." How do I
love my neighbour as myself? He tells us, "Pray for your enemies .... forgive
them that despitefully use you” and all the rest of those passages that
ordinarily are ignored.

The Kingdom of God has no relationship to human conduct, except that

attaining the Kingdom of God, our human conduct becomes what it should
be, not by virtue of our righteousness but by virtue of our new identity. How
shall we put that? When one has been touched by the Spirit to the extent of
real….well, let's take this. Supposing now that I should accept this revelation
that has been given to us that I have meat the world knows not of, or that I,
the Christ within me, is my bread, my wine, my water, my supply. Supposing
I accept the scriptural teaching that God is my Fortress, God is my High
Tower, God is my abiding place. And all of this is embodied within me. And
through the activity of the Christ, all of this is mine.

Now in the moment that I accept that, is there anything that you have got
that I would want, or that I would need, or that I would desire? No, because I
already have all that God has, and I have within me the activity of the Christ
to bring into visible manifestation all that I need. And in that realization, I
have lost the capacity to steal, I've lost the capacity to cheat, I've lost the
capacity to falsely advertise, I've lost the capacity to falsify, I've lost the
capacity because there is no need, they're dead, there is no reason behind
them, no function.

All that God is, I am. All that God hath is mine. And therefore, do you see
how that would make my conduct perfect? Not because I am good but
because now with the activity of the Christ, I am fulfilled. I have all that I can
ever have. And anything I need tomorrow or next week or next year, the
activity of the Christ is right now developing for me.

Just like right now the fruit is forming within your trees, the flowers are
forming within your bushes, even if they are not yet visible, you know that
there is a spiritual activity forming them. And so, you don't have be jealous of
your neighbour’s garden or his fruit trees, and you don't have to be
avaricious, and you don't have to think of staying up late at night and going
out and stealing them. Why? Because you look at your own garden and your
own fruit trees and you say, "I have all my neighbour has, in fact I have all
God has." And so you have no capacity to do anything other than wait for
your own trees to blossom and bear fruit, and your own bushes to give forth
flowers and enjoy them.

And so it is, once you know that there is an invisible Christ within you, an
invisible Presence of God, and that at this very moment It is out here
preparing mansions for you, It is out here making the crooked places straight.
It is out here drawing unto me my own, whether they have to come to me
from Africa or Australia, from Europe, from the United States or Canada.
Somewhere out in this world, the activity of the Christ is, right now, drawing
unto me those who will be in my Classes in London and in Holland and in
Switzerland, and back in New York, and then out in Japan, and Australia, right
now the Christ is doing all that. And when I get there, they will be sitting in
chairs out here. And I may know them, just as I may not know you, until this
visit. And yet, here you are. And I humanly didn't do it, but the Spirit of the
Christ has been working in this city and in you to bring us together. Do you
not see that?

So it is, whether your need is for something physical, financial, mental,

whether it is for instruction, whether it is for food, or clothing, or housing or
raiment, you do not have to take thought for that. I, in the midst of you, the
very Christ of your being, I am functioning, and I will never leave you nor
forsake you. And I am out there preparing mansions for you. And I am
making the crooked places straight for you. And I am seeing your own come
to you. Do you not see then that that changes your whole life, and makes you
the kind of human you should be, not because of your goodness but because
of Its functioning, Christ functioning within you.

The more you rely on the activity of the Christ within you; "I can do all things
through Christ, He performeth that which is given me to do, He perfecteth
that which concerneth me, He that is within me is greater than he that is in
the world;" and as you live with those passages and learn to rely upon them
from morning to night and from night to morning, your vision is drawn back
from out here. And then you'll find that your human conduct is right in line
with spiritual conduct, which is Love.

IW Morsel – Divine Sonship

The transition into divine sonship brings about that change from faith in the

tasted, touched, smelled – or even thought or reasoned.
The Thunder of Silence P.21 By Joel Goldsmith 1953 Second New York Closed Class Tape 620
Side 1 Psalm 46 – Prayer by Joel Goldsmith We Can Only Demonstrate God "The nature of our
being must be infinity."
Now watch that the moment that you catch your first spiritual glimpse, you
give up all such prayers or treatments that have to do with getting or
receiving. And one's entire experience is living out from the centre of being.
The Master fed multitudes and instead of being depleted, found himself with
twelve baskets full. The Master healed multitudes and instead of finding
himself weakened, found himself strengthened in God. Why?

Because the Master did not draw from his storehouses or bonds - the Master
did not draw from his acquired knowledge or wisdom - the Master didn't
draw. The Master let flow this divinity of his Being and It multiplied loaves
and fishes, healed the multitudes. "I can of my own self do nothing, the
Father within me doeth the works."

The very first spiritual glimpse, probably even before we become aware of the
fact that no longer are material or mental laws operating on us. Very often
before we catch a glimpse of that, we catch a glimpse of this other that we
can share. That if the whole world came to us for food or clothing or lodging
or healing, that we could meet the need. We would only do that in proportion
as the thought of "I" would not touch ourselves.

As if it were to come from me, or come from mine. But in the same way, that
if someone were to ask you for metaphysical help, that you would never
believe that they were asking for some of your help to be given to them. In
that same way, when someone asks for food or clothing or lodging, you
would have no thought that they were asking you for some of your food,
clothing or lodging, and so you would be able to give them, lend them,
bestow upon them as liberally as you could give them metaphysical or
spiritual healings. Is that clear?

Is that clear, that when you turn within to help another that you are not
drawing anything of yourself? When someone asks you for help for a
headache or a foot ache, or any other ache that they are not asking you to
give up some of your health? Well, be just as sure then that when they call
upon you in any way, for anything, they are not asking you to give up any of
your wealth. They are asking you to draw upon the infinity of your being
which is pure spirit.

Oh, it will become evident in the form necessary to their experience. It will
become form as dollars or clothing or housing. But that is not the way it will
emanate from you. It will emanate from you as spiritual realization, then it
will take form with them as food, clothing and housing or healing.

Remember the illustration now so often used by us that when Joan of Arc is
asked, "Does God speak to you in French?" The answer is, "I do not know in
what language God speaks, but I hear him in French." You know that God
speaks in spirit, not in any language. But when it comes to our awareness, we
hear it in the language of our activity, in the language of our daily experience.
But God has not spoken in English, or French, or Italian, or German. God has
spoken in Spirit. And, in coming into our consciousness, we let it come
through as our own language.

In the same way, no spiritual demonstration of supply has anything to do with

housing or clothing or food. Any more than a spiritual healing has to do with
reducing lumps. Remember, that all healing work is nullified the moment you
have any thought in your mind of it having anything to do with physical
conditions. If you do have a healing under those conditions, it will be a
mental experience. Belief made manifest.

When, however, you turn to God on behalf of yourself or on behalf of

another, and drop from thought all sense of the material need and turn
there for light, for enlightenment, for spiritual realization, wisdom,
for the knowledge of God; then you will find, that even though it comes to
you in some form as this came walking down the hall, "He uttereth his voice."

Then, after that has passed through your thought, all of a sudden you
become aware of it out here as a healthier person or one abundantly
supplied. Never make the mistake of believing that in our spiritual work, that
we have in mind somebody’s health or wealth, even when that is to become
the tangible or visible form of the demonstration. You know what the
demonstration itself is? - The realization of God. The demonstration in our
work is never the thing or the condition. The demonstration is the realization
of God. The form that the demonstration of God appears in, that is something
with which we have nothing to do. It will always appear in the form necessary
at the moment. The opening of the Red Sea, the multiplication of loaves and
fishes."

Infinite Way Letter December 1955 By Joel Goldsmith CHRISTMAS 1955 The Christ on Earth

Occasionally this Divine Spiritual Impulse, the Christ, appears as more

pronounced in an individual here and there, but It exists in the consciousness
of every individual on the face of the globe. There comes a specific period in
the life of each individual when we come to the places of spiritual
annunciation in which the Christ is conceived, nurtured, developed, until, on
Christmas Day, the Child is born; or, in other words, the Presence of the
Christ is realised.

The birth of the Christ does not chronologically occur on the twenty-fifth of
December, nor geographically in the Holy Lands, but, rather, it takes place in
the uplifted consciousness of the individual. It is this uplifted consciousness
that is the Holy City—the city that is called “Sought out”, –the birthplace and
dwelling place of the Christ. Wherever this Spirit of God appears in human
consciousness, all the blessings and prophecies regarding the rich fruitage of
the Christ are made evident.

In the light of the Christ the human scene is revealed as somewhat fantastic.
It is only after the Christ has been realised in consciousness that the depth of
true humility is understood. Before that time there is always a sense of
personal ego, but with the birth of the Christ all sense of personal
demonstration or the desire for any person or thing, accomplishment or
achievement is lost.

One comes to a point of transition in consciousness from that place where

there exists a need, a desire, or an unfulfilled life, to that place where there is
no life of one’s own to be fulfilled, made happy, prosperous or content. There
no longer exists even a sense of needing God because there is a realization of
God acting through One. This activity is never for one’s personal benefit, but
is a blessing unto those who have not yet experienced the conception and
birth of the Christ within their own being and thereby realised the universal
nature of the Christ.

Elijah revealed the nature of the Christ as a still, small Voice which is within
the realm and reach of every individual who attains the receptive ear. Daniel
revealed the Christ as a stone “cut out of the mountain without hands.” In the
words of Isaiah: “He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard
in the street. A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he
not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth.” When the Master
spoke of those who have eyes but do not see and those who have ears and
do not hear, He was speaking of an inner capacity that beholds that which
the human eye can never behold, hears that which the human ear can never
hear, knows that which the human ear can never know, knows that which the
human mind can never apprehend. The nature of the Christ is a spiritual
activity, wholly without physical accomplishment, yet It is sufficient to destroy
the four temporal kingdoms.

Within me there seems to be a swiftly moving mountain stream which, from many
directions is being joined by smaller streams. United these flow as one stream in a
turbulent yet orderly progress toward the sea. The words and thoughts of Elijah,
Daniel, Isaiah, Jesus and others of the great Biblical characters are rushing into my
inner being, and there uniting in the revelation of one spiritual Essence, one
Presence, one Power. Intermingled with this are thoughts of the many children who
have come into this life crippled or otherwise handicapped. These children, with their
cry “Why? Why this? Why me?” are surging in on the earth consciousness, but the
earth has no answer to their problem, no answer to their healing. Likewise, a similar
cry is going up from people the world over for a cessation of war and a world peace,
and the earth has no answer to them.

But there is an answer! The answer is Christ!—Christ, a spiritual influence within

you, within me, and within all whose hearts and Souls are open to the annunciation,
to the experience of conception and birth of the Christ. The Spirit of the Lord God
Almighty is upon the Christ of your individual being, and this gentle Presence,
achieved “not by might nor by power,” is the anointing of the Spirit Itself. It is this
Christ that is the answer to world peace, and It is an answer also to those little ones
who are clamouring for their divine heritage of harmony and wholeness.

You do not have to declare that you have attained this consciousness; it is evident to
the world by the harmonies, joys, peace and dominion you show forth in daily living.
Your spiritual attainment is evident by its effects which are seen as health, success,
poise and peace. Even that which the world sees as your physical body will be
apparent as health, vitality, youthfulness and beauty. That which the world sees as
your supply will be evident as abundance and security. That which the world sees as
your home will reflect love, compatibility, companionship. In other words, that which
you receive in secret, in spiritual consciousness, will be shouted from the housetops
as visible evidence—and yet you will utter no word with your mouth.

Universality and Availability of the Mind That Was in Christ Jesus

The Infinite Way begins with the revelation that there is a transcendental
consciousness, which in Christian mysticism is called Christ-consciousness and in
Buddhism is called the Buddha-mind. In either case, what is meant is that there is a
consciousness higher than the human mind. This is not a matter of general
knowledge. True, there may be those who accept the idea that Buddha had that
spiritual consciousness and that Jesus had the mind that was in Christ, but there are
not many who understand that this Christ-mind, or consciousness, is universal to all
men, and that it is just as much yours and mine as it was that of Jesus or Buddha.

God is being, but not a being. God is being you and being me so to set up a God
separate from that Being produces the sense of separation that keeps us in
ignorance. That personalizing of God, personalizing I, is the “veil” that brings about
a person’s sense of separation from God. Personalizing God by accepting Jesus as
the only Christ also pulls down the “veil.” In fact, the personalization of Spirit is the
“veil.”

From – Spiritual Interpretation of Scripture By Joel Goldsmith P. 162 Excerpt - Cleansing the Temple

When you realise God, Soul or Spirit as the only causative Principle, you likewise
understand that all that exists is of that eternal substance and is therefore immortal.
This understanding constitutes your spiritual awareness of Life and its formations,
and when you have achieved this understanding, you will never lose your supply or
your body, you will have attained eternal Life here and now and there will be no
more death or passing, or even disease, for you.

In building this new consciousness you are building the Temple “not made with
hands, eternal in the heavens.” This Temple you cannot build with materials other
than the pure substance of Spirit. You cannot build with human qualities of evil, nor
even with human qualities of good. You cannot build it with wrong thinking, but no
more can you build it with right thinking. Human thought will not build this infinite
eternal spiritual edifice.. Human thought is finite and changeable, and it cannot
result in an indestructible and immortal structure.

The Temple of God which is your body, and which is also the body of all that
concerns your individual existence, is not visible to “man whose breath is in his
nostrils.” The real body, or Temple of your existence, is seen only with spiritual
vision, even as it is built and maintained only by spiritual consciousness.
