Lesson Title/Focus Module 3-How to write a short story

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
1. By the end of the module, after learning about the important elements in a short story
you will go on to complete a draft for your own short story.
2. Once you have finished your short story, you will post it to the discussion board for
another one of your peers to edit. You will only edit one paper yourself out of all your
peers. For students that may not feel comfortable with posting their story on the board, you
can e mail it to me and I will find one of your peers to edit it for you.

MATERIALS & EQUIPMENT


 Alberta Program of Studies – ELA Grade 7
 Go through all the various elements needed in a short story
 Provide google hangout for editing purposes
PREPARATION & LOGISTICAL CONSIDERATION
 Have all of the information set up for the students
 Be available for students if they may need assistance (through e mail)
ASSESSMENTS
Observations:  Observe how the students take what they have learned
and apply it towards their own writing process.
 Observe how students work to help each other with their
editing process
Essential Question:  What makes a short story successful?
Products/Performances:  Students will work towards creating their draft copy of
their short story

PROCEDURE
Introduction
Introduction  Give a brief overview on what we will be
doing today

Objectives  Give the students their objectives for the day
- By the end of the module, after learning about the
important elements in a short story you will go on
to complete a draft for your own short story.
- Once you have finished your short story, you will
