EATON HMI Screen Design and Test Application.

LAB

Objective:

1. To design an EATON HMI06CE03 Screen with HMISoft Software.


2. To program HMI elements (buttons, indicator etc) in order to perform according to
assigned instructions.
3. To download HMISoft design application to EATON HMI06CE03 and test.

Software Required: HMISoft 1.14.00

Programming:

1. Opening a New Screen for design:


Go to My Computer(C) Local DiskProgram FilesEATONHMISoft1.14.00
ScrEdit.exe
Open a New Application and include the specification as given below. Then Click OK.

A new application is opened to design the HMI screen.

On the left hand side of the window if Property and Output is not seen then go to
VIEWCheck PropertyCheck Output.
1. Create Tags for Elements (i.e. buttons, indicators etc):
Go to OptionsTag Table

Under HMI select Base PortAddFirst write addresses and then names for different
tags as given belowClick OK
2. Add a Background for the HMI screen:
Go to ScreenImportSelect any saved pictureOK
The screen background will appear now.

3. Add a Button to the screen:


Go to ElementButtonsMaintained
Draw a button on the Screen. From the Property window select state 0. Then click on the write
address tab. Select tag as given below and click OK.

Change the read address in the same way. Add a text (in this case ‘OFF’ for state 0). Change the
foreground color.
Go to state ‘1’ and modify property as given below

4. Add an Indicator to the screen:


Go to ElementIndicatorMultistate IndicatorDraw an indicator on the screen.
Create an indicator on the screen. Select tag for the read address. Add text ‘OFF’ for state
‘0’. Select Picture Bank Name and Picture name as given below.

For state ‘1’change text to ‘ON’. Change Picture name for this state. Do not modify the
read address.

5. Add a Numeric to the screen:


Go to ElementInputNumeric Entry
Draw a box for numeric entry. Set write and read address as given below. Click on detail tab.
Set minimum value to 0 and maximum value to 500. Click OK.

6. Add Multistate Data Display to the screen:


Go to ElementData DisplayPrestored Message
Draw a display for messages for different states. Set the read address accordingly and
modify the add/remove state to 7. Then for state 0 type ‘No Test’ in the text field.

Modify the other states as per below:


State 1Over temperature
State2Over Voltage
State 3Under Voltage
State 4Phase loss
State 5Phase Imbalance
State 6Thermal Overload
7. Add a Second Screen:
Go to ScreenNew ScreenOK

Now navigate back to Screen 1. Go to WindowCheck Screen 1


8. Add a Goto Button to navigate to Sreen 2:
Goto ElementButtonGoto Screen

Add a text ‘Read Screen 2’. Press Enter in the text option for coming to next line. Modify
Goto Screen option from 1-Screen_1 to 2-Screen_2. Click OK.
9. Add a Function Key Control:
Go to ElementFunction Keys

Press F1LocalCheck Goto Screen. In property edit the goto screen to 1-Screen_1.
10. Set Up Communication to the HMI:
Goto OptionsConfigure

Under Standard Change the Upload/Download port to Ethernet.

Press Communication tab. Select Ethernet and uncheck DHCP. Put the HMI IP, Mask IP
and Default Gateway IP for the respective HMI. Click OK.
11. Save the Application:
Go to ToolsCompileSaveOK

You will have to compile your application every time you make any change.
12. Create an Off Line Simulation:
You can do an offline simulation to check whether the elements are operating correctly.
Go to ToolsOff Line Simulation

You will see the following screen.

Press X on the right top to go back to HMISoft again.


13. Download Application to HMI:
Go to ToolsDownload Screen
