Acknowledgement
First of all I would like to say thank you, for giving me the
strength to do this project work.
Thanking my parents for providing everything, such as
money, to buy anything that are related to this project
work and their advice and support which are the most
need for this project, Internet, computers and the HR
Manager of the Hotel Barahi of Lakeside, Pokhara. They
supported me completely in order to finish this report so
that I will not procrastinate in doing it.
Then I would like to thank my teacher, Shanti
ma’am guiding me and my friends throughout this
project. They were helpful that when we combine and
discuss together, we had this task done.

Introduction (Background of the organization)
Hotel Barahi was established in the year 1996 AD. It is
located in the central part of Lakeside near Gaurighat.
There are 125 staffs working at this hotel. There are total
79 rooms in the hotel-64 deluxe, 4 sweet and remaining
are standard rooms. This hotel provided high and better
service to its customer. There are different department in
this hotel management department, house keeper
department, HR department, Receptionist, Administration
and general department, etc. The staffs are energetic,
good mannered, honest and loyal to its customer. It is one
of the famous hotel which provide better and high service
to their customer.
Goals and Objectives
The main objectives of the study are:
1. To find out the recruitment and selection process
of Hotel Barahi.
2. To know how the candidates need to deal during
the selection process.
3. To find out the strategies adopted by the hotel to
motivate the employees.
4. To find out the factor they consider on selection
decision.
Findings
Selection Process of Human Resources at Hotel Barahi
By visiting this hotel, we come to know the different
things about the hotel, the past history and present
scenario of the hotel. Buddhi Thakuri, the HR manager of
this hotel tell us about different selection process of
human resources (employee),the selection process is
same for the every level of employee in this hotel, which
are as follows:

The very first step is that they announced a vacancy in
local newspaper (samadhan), national newspaper
(Himalayan Times) or website and the deadline is 7-15
days. They collect the vacancy from different part of the
country. Academic qualification, work experience and
position are the required for applicants.
The second step is they collect the document of the
candidate and invite them for the interview by telephone.
All applicants are not called at the same time. The
interview is taken one by one. The questionnaire are
planned before the interview.
The next step is interview. For the interview there would
not be gap, immediately the applicants is called by the
organization or minimum 1 day. The interview is taken by
HR manager, Board of director and Department head. It is
direct or face to face. 30 and above age candidates are
not heired at the physical working environment. For the
kitchen and management they choose the experienced
person, so the candidate above 55 can also be the part.
Ladies are given more priority in the housekeeping and
reception section.
The final step is selecting the best candidate. The result
would announce immediately on the field. After selecting
the candidate further test would be tested on the spot
such as management skill, and how they work in
workstation, supervisor skill test, communication skills
and other test is based on the basis of their performance.
There would be 1 year provisional period or it may be 8
months before announcing about the job security for each
applicant.
After selecting the candidate for the job, require training
are given such as important skills about the organizational
culture, giving education as per needed by looking
towards the working background for everyone and others
according to the terms and conditions. Medical insurance
and accidental insurance are given for every employee.
Promotion based on their performance such as discipline,
performance evaluation and department head look after
that observation once in a year. If the employee works
better then he/she would select permanently and if they
work less than their expectation then he/she may leave
the job as per the rules.
There may arise some issues inside the organization, it
may be about the facilities and most repeating main issue
is salary.
Summary and Conclusion
As I meet the HR manager of the Hotel Barahi, I came to
know about the various things of the hotel. Its day to day
activities, their selection process, the service obtain in
that hotel, facilities, training and development provided
to the employee to motivate them.
After talking with the HR manger, I came to
know about the selection process very clearly which plays
important role in an organization. The staff of this hotel
was very kind, helpful, disciplined, energetic and loyal.
Hence I get the many information about how they heir
the employee in an organization and gives the trainings.
