Time: It is assumed that the class period is a minimum of forty-five minutes. The
activities in the lesson will be done according to number of the students, level of
the class. Most of the time is for grammar activities.

Overall Objective: Usage of past and past continuous tense and the difference
between them.

Materials and Equipments: Reading text consisting of simple past and past
continous tense.
Pictures for making story.
Exercises about simple past and past continuous
tense.
Stages of the Lesson
Warm Up/Review ( 5 minutes)
A brief reminding/repetition of simple past tense.
Introduction
Today, in this lesson, I’m going to teach you simple past & past continuous tense
and the
diffence between them.
Presentation ( 15 minutes)
(from the 7th exercise part)
 The puzzle, which consists of past forms of the verbs, will be done by using
the sentences below, then write the answers in the gaps.
 Work it out: past continuous tense. Read the rule which is given, then write
the rest of the rule, complete the rule.
 Underline the examples of past continuous in stories which are given at
hte beginning of the Unit 6.Then write the questions with given words and
answer these questions.
 Make them complete the sentences by using the past continuous forms.
 Make them complete the sentences by putting the verbs into the past
continuous or past simple.
 Work in pairs think of ending to the story, then swap your ending with
another pair, discuss which ending is the best one?
 Write the negative and and the questions of the sentences which are
given.
 Work in pairs, make a story by using given verbs, write them in the blanks
under the pictures with simple past tense and past continuos tense, then
tell the story.
Practice ( 15 minutes)
 Work it out: past simple and past continuous?
 Write sentences, Put the verbs in the past simple or the past continuous.
 Write the correct forms of the verbs .( past simple or past continuous
tense)
 Complete the sentences with the given phrases.

Evaluation ( 10 minutes)
 Ask the students write a story with the help of pictures and questions in
pairs.
 Make the students read the stories which are written by pairs with given
verbs, discussing the answers by the whole class.
 Then make them discuss which one is the best?
