Who is an engineer?
Engineers, as practitioners of engineering, are people who
invent, design, analyze, build, and test machines, systems,
structures and materials to fulfill objectives and requirements
while considering the limitations imposed by practicality,
regulation, safety, and cost.The word engineer (Latin ingeniator)
is derived from the Latin words ingeniare ("to contrive, devise")
and ingenium ("cleverness"). The foundational qualifications of
an engineer typically include a 4-year bachelor's degree in an
engineering discipline, or in some jurisdictions, a master's
degree in an engineering discipline plus 4–6 years of
peer-reviewed professional practice (culminating in a project
report or thesis) and passage of engineering board
examinations

Duties of the Engineer

Engineers work in the sphere of manufacturing,
overseeing the production of goods (in JDL’s case,
drinking water).It is the duty of the engineer to ensure
that drinking water is being manufactured with utmost
efficiency ad quality, according to planned protocols
using the appropriate technology. It is the engineer’s
duty to deal with the provision of clean water, disposal
of waste water, and the prevention of flood damage.
Their job involves repairing, maintaining and building
structures that control water resources.
