MESSAGE

I hope you are having a good summer. It is hard to believe it has only been a
year since I became the congregation’s executive director. In that time there have
been many changes, some more visible than not, such as the upgrade of our general
ledger to Quickbooks Online.
The office staff has gone through a number of changes in this time and recently
has again. We have a new receptionist/administrative assistant, Patricia Gondor.
Patty, as she likes to be called, started a few weeks ago. Patty’s son is a “graduate”
of our Preschool and she is thrilled to be working at Agudas Achim.
One of the other changes is that after eighteen years, we’ve moved to a new
membership database, which is browser based. Among its features, we will no
longer need to use Eventbrite or other third party online systems to register for
events. You will be able to click on a link on our online calendar, which will also
be upgraded, and register directly. Any ticket charges will appear directly on
member accounts. As part of instituting the new database, you will see a new look
to statements and other materials generated through the system.
The transition to the new system has just been completed after a review of all
our transaction data. We have only brought over two years of financial data, plus
any open balances. In the coming months, we will introduce to members the ability
to make payments and contributions online. You are still welcome to mail in or
drop off checks, but we’re moving into a much more efficient model.
We ask that you bear with us as we adjust to the new world this system offers.
It will create greater efficiency in the long term, as well as an improved “customer
experience.”
Oh, and lest I forget, during the summer we are gearing up for the High Holy
Days, so keep an eye out for your High Holy Day packet.

Thanks to the hard work of Diana Weil, Barry Nove, and Disability Inclusion
Committee member Diane Perry, we now have labeling of common allergens at
food events at Agudas Achim. Please see the description of our allergy labeling
practices elsewhere in this bulletin.
Thank you to those of you who have already completed the Disability
Inclusion Survey on the website. If you have not filled it out, please go to the
website and fill it out. If you need a paper copy, please call the office and we can
have them mail you one. All responses are kept confidential. Your input is
important. We are already implementing suggestions from congregants that are
making our community more accessible.
