On motion presented by Councilor Ernesto A. Aspillaga, duly seconded, all present members of the
Sangguniang Panlungsod approved the following City Resolution on second and final reading:

CITY RESOLUTION NO. 2008-003

A RESOLUTION ORDERING THE TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF

INTERMENT SERVICES AT THE MAKATI CITY PUBLIC CEMETERY
LOCATED AT KALAYAAN AVENUE, MAKATI CITY, FOR A PERIOD OF
AT LEAST FIVE (5) YEARS TO JUMPSTART THE RE-DEVELOPMENT
OF THE FACILITY, SUBJECT TO ALL LAWS AND EXISTING LEGAL
RULES AND REGULATIONS.

WHEREAS, the existing Makati Public Cemetery facility had already reached its full capacity under
its basic utility design and currently in complete disarray and deteriorated state thereby urgently
needing rehabilitation/re-development to improve facilities and to increase its capacity to mitigate the
ever growing need for urban interment facilities;
WHEREAS, there is a need to temporary close the interment services at the Makati Public Cemetery
for a period of at least five (5) years to pave the way for its rehabilitation/re-development;

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, BY THE

SANGGUNIANG PANLUNGSOD OF MAKATI, METRO MANILA, BY VIRTUE OF THE
POWERS VESTED IN IT BY LAW, IN SESSION ASSEMBLED, to order the temporary closure
of interment services at the Makati City Public Cemetery located at Kalayaan Avenue, Makati City,
for a period of at least five (5) years to jumpstart the re-development of the facility, subject to all laws
and existing legal rules and regulations.

Let copy of this Resolution be furnished the DENR-NCR, Director H.V. San Miguel of MAPSA, the
Urban Development Department and other concerned offices for their information, guidance and
reference.

This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its approval.

its regular session held on January 18, 2008.
