Compost Amendment Rate Calculator

Enter your values in any row (rows 10-23) to calculate the depth in inches of compost ("CR") that needs to be applied and then incorporated into
the soil (to depth D) to achieve your target final organic matter (FOM - typically 10% for planting beds or 5% for turf areas).
Then, if desired, enter the area to be covered, to calculate the amount of compost needed. Then enter the price per cubic yard to calculate the total cost.
For more information, refer to Building Soil: Guidelines & Resources for Implementing Soil Quality and Depth BMP T5.13 in WDOE Stormwater Management Manual for
Western Washington, pages 10-12 and 18-19, available online at www.SoilsforSalmon.org or www.BuildingSoil.org .
