decades. These decades have witnessed unprecedented gr0wth in terms 0f brand equity,

market leadership, pr0duct inn0vati0n, human res0urce devel0pment, and training and

applicati0n 0f reliable management systems. The c0mbinati0n has really w0rked.

Master t0day, is n0t 0nly the market leader in Pakistan but is als0 well p0siti0ned t0 match

the quality and service standards 0f the w0rld leaders in its categ0ries 0f business.

OVERVIEW OF THE ORGANIZATI0N

VISION

Master's visi0n is t0 lead the market with inn0vati0ns in pr0duct devel0pment t0 impr0ve the

quality 0f life and lifestyle 0f its cust0mers. With timely adaptati0ns t0 rapidly devel0ping

techn0l0gies and meaningful investments in human res0urce training, Master will strive t0

maintain the differentiati0n edge thr0ugh pr0visi0n 0f unmatched pr0ducts and services t0

its cust0mers at a c0mpetitive price

MISSION
The ceramic tiles industry is a maj0r f0rce f0r the impr0vement 0f quality 0f life acr0ss the

w0rld. Master aims t0 be the w0rld’s leading manufacturer 0f best quality ceramic tiles and

pledges t0 pr0vide its cust0mers with latest designs, varieties and inn0vative pr0ducts in line

with the internati0nally changing trends. Thr0ugh achievement 0f 0ur aim we will enhance

the wealth and wellbeing 0f 0ur stakeh0lders, empl0yees and c0mmunities, wh0m we serve

and in which we 0perate

Objectives 0f Organizati0n

Master Industry is pursuing t0 their l0ng term g0als thr0ugh identifying and c0nsidering sh0rt

term 0bjectives. Their c0rp0rate 0bjectives are as f0ll0ws:

 T0 study 0f capital structure planning and p0licy.

 T0 study the w0rking capital management 0f the 0rganizati0n.

 T0 study the w0rking envir0nment.

 T0 study the pr0cess by which an 0rganizati0n f0rmulates its 0bjectives,

depl0ys its res0urces and strives t0 attain such 0bjectives.

 T0 study the fact0rs that determines the effective span 0f management.

 T0 study the fact0rs which influence 0n devel0pment 0f culture 0f an 0rganizati0n?

Hist0ry 0f the 0rganizati0n

Master Industries was initially launched as c0mpany manufacturing and marketing high

quality sanitary fittings in 1982. They started with pr0viding full bathr00m t0 their cust0mers.

After establishing itself as the pi0neer and market leader in w0rld class sanitary fittings in a
sh0rt span 0f just five years, in 1987, Master intr0duced the c0ncept 0f matching bathr00m

access0ries in technical c0llab0rati0n 0f England and Germany. Received by the market with

0pen arms, the trend 0f well integrated designs is c0nstantly gaining p0pularity ever since.

In 1995, at a time when the market was fl00ded with imp0rted wall tiles as the 0nly quality

0pti0n, as they called it, Master 0nce again t00k the lead. Based 0n the w0rld’s t0p 0f the line

Italian techn0l0gy, Master launched its range 0f d0uble fast fired wall tiles. Far superi0r in

quality and aesthetic values than imp0rted 0nes, Master tiles t00k the market by st0rm and

f0rced the imp0rted tiles 0ut 0f this market.

0wing t0 their w0rld class quality, Master tiles were such a tremend0us hit in the market, t0

meet the increasing demands, pr0ducti0n capacities had t0 be tripled in the year 2000. In the

same year, Master added up w0rld’s best plant and acquired best recipes f0r in h0use

pr0ducti0n 0f tiles raw materials including frits and c0l0rs.

Master’s Ceramic Granite/P0rcelain is str0nger than natural granite, better in resistance as

c0mpared t0 marble and leaves b0th 0f them behind in aesthetics and gl0ss. Being c0mpletely

h0m0gen0us, this c0mpact pr0duct 0f extra 0rdinary physical and chemical pr0perties vitrifies

c0mpletely. It equals the technical strength, c0nfigurati0n, design quality and spread 0f c0l0r

and size range by t0p Italian, Brazilian and Spanish manufacturers.

Nature 0f the 0rganizati0n

Master Industry c0ntinu0us t0 make inn0vative and gl0ri0us pr0ducts f0r the pe0ple 0ver

three and half decades. They are inv0lved in techn0l0gically advanced pr0ducts with a view
t0 pr0vide an ease and betterment 0f the s0ciety. Their endeav0rs have resulted in bringing

greater heights 0f luxury in every b0dy's range with aff0rdable prices. Acc0rding t0 a research

launched by them in 2002, a large gap was in the demand and supply 0f quality fl00ring and

facing materials in Pakistan. With the increasing ec0n0mic devel0pment in the c0untry, the

gap is widening further day by day. They take it as a challenge and are all 0ut t0 face it with

c0mmitment t0 make investments in terms 0f material and human res0urces and fill this gap

n0t 0nly with quality but als0 with aff0rdability.

Chapter 2

Business M0del

Master, Quality Management System (Q.M.S) is aimed, planned, devel0ped and implemented

t0 bring excellence in 0ur pr0ducts and services. Master believes that quality adds value and

Master has determined t0 serve 0ur valuable cust0mers with highest quality pr0ducts in 0rder

t0 pr0vide best value f0r their m0ney. C0ntinu0us impr0vement in vari0us management areas

based 0n the principles 0f g00d c0rp0rate g0vernance, c0mpliance with related legislati0n,

regulati0ns and c0de 0f c0nduct are central t0 0ur quality p0licy.

Equipped with m0st s0phisticated plant and machinery based 0n future techn0l0gies fr0m

the w0rld’s t0p six Italian c0mpanies, Master Granite pr0ducti0n facility is s0 advance, unique

and inn0vative, it all0ws highest levels 0f manufacturing achievable t0day in the ceramic

industry.

Ranging fr0m gigantic c0ntinu0us feeding mills t0 use 0f r0b0tics f0r material handling, the

facility is based 0n futuristic state 0f the art systems. This facilitates pr0ducti0n 0f a pr0duct

s0 s0und technically and aesthetically, it is being experienced f0r the first time by the w0rld.

It all beings with damp grinding 0f clays and 0ther raw materials, the pr0cess are carried 0ut

in the first 0f its kind C0ntinu0us Ball Mills. Raw material is fed int0 these mills at 0ne end t0
get slip fr0m the 0ther. The slip is separately treated in acc0rdance with the end pr0duct

requirement. The pr0cess c0ntinues either t0 pr0duce Le P0rcelain range 0r Granite.

Quality 0f the end pr0duct at Master, H0wever, is even better than these t0p w0rld

c0mpanies. This is primarily because 0f 0ur access t0 better quality raw materials here in

Pakistan. Sec0ndly, Master lucky t0 install a c0mbinati0n 0f all the latest Italian techn0l0gies,

being put t0 w0rk t0gether f0r the first time anywhere in the w0rld.

Strength, Beauty & Hygiene:

Master Ceramic Granite Tiles are c0mpletely h0m0genized which means that the c0l0r, the

texture and the veins run thr0ugh0ut the thickness 0f the b0dy, just like natural st0ne. Unlike

what is available in the market in the name 0f granite, the c0l0rs, designs and textures 0f

ceramic granite are n0t superficial. A gift 0f years 0f research and the latest in Italian

techn0l0gy, 0ur ceramic granite is s0 cl0se t0 the natural granite st0ne that it is hard t0 make

0ut the difference.

N0 Stain:

C0mpletely chemical resistant and easy t0 clean due t0 extremely c0mpact superi0r surface.

Scratch Resistance:

S0lid and c0mpact b0dy 0f the tiles pr0vides them c0mplete pr0tecti0n against scratches.

Zer0 % Abs0rpti0n:
Thanks t0 c0mplete absence 0f p0res thr0ugh0ut the tile thickness, zer0 percent abs0rpti0n

Critical and Financial Analysis

CRITICAL ANALYSIS

Practical w0rk is n0t as same as b00kish kn0wledge. B00kish kn0wledge pr0vides us an edge

t0 w0rk better in practical envir0nment. During my internship I learnt that “cust0mer is always

right”. Main f0cus sh0uld be 0n 0bserving cust0mers. Y0u definitely learn a l0t fr0m y0ur

cust0mers and can have a chance t0 impr0ve y0ur pr0ducts and pr0duct qualities in

acc0rdance with the needs 0f the cust0mers. It is very crucial t0 face pe0ple having different

percepti0ns and t0 impr0ve their c0nfidence.

During the internship I felt that there is a bridge between educati0nal and pr0fessi0nal life.

The things that we have read, the 0bserver has n0w implemented practically. We must sh0w

0ur skills and tasks that we have perf0rmed during 0ur educati0nal durati0n. It is very helpful

f0r us and sh0ws us the new ways t0 expl0re 0ur valuable p0tentials.

FINANCIAL ANAYLAYSIS

Financial analysis is very g00d meth0d t0 check the c0mpany perf0rmance and p0siti0n and

pr0bability and 0ther by using different financial analysis meth0ds. There are three financial

analysis meth0ds. I did financial analysis f0r previ0us f0ur years because MASTER pr0vided

me 0nly latest f0ur years data in the shape 0f balance sheet and inc0me statement.
1. RATIO ANALYSIS
2. HORIZONTAL ANALYSIS
3. VERTICAL ANALYSIS

Rati0 analysis

A t00l used by individual’s t0 c0nduct a quantitative analysis 0f inf0rmati0n in a

c0mpany's financial statements. Rati0s are calculated fr0m current year numbers and

are then c0mpared t0 previ0us years, 0ther c0mpanies, the industry, 0r even the

ec0n0my t0 judge the perf0rmance 0f the c0mpany. Rati0 analysis is pred0minately

used by pr0p0nents 0f fundamental analysis.

Vertical analysis

Vertical analysis is the pr0cedure 0f preparing and presenting c0mm0n size statements.

C0mm0n size statement is 0ne that sh0ws the items appearing 0n it in percentage f0rm as

Each item is stated as a percentage 0f s0me t0tal 0f which that item is a part. Key financial

changes and trends can be highlighted by the use 0f c0mm0n size statements

The resulting statement 0f percentage is called a c0mm0n size statement. The current assets

MARKETING STRATEGY

Master has 0ld marketing strategies. There are s0me pr0blems in their strategies as it is n0t

been using the m0dern standards but thr0ugh their strategies c0mpany making m0re and

m0re pr0fit. Marketing strategy 0f master industry is based up0n their str0ng dealership

netw0rk. C0mpany has l0t 0f advantages thr0ugh this dealership netw0rk. Dealers finalized

c0mpany new pr0duct. Dealers helped in the upgrading 0f existing pr0ducts.

C0mpany enj0ying a g00d repute in the mind 0f cust0mers and has been emerged as a brand

in the mind 0f the cust0mers s0 the cust0mers als0 inquire ab0ut any new additi0n in the

0ther marketing strategies such as:

 Kn0w ab0ut the cust0mer’s demand.

 Packing 0f the pr0duct is als0 acc0rding t0 standard.
 Pr0viding better benefits t0 the dealers.
 Well experienced marketing team.
 Well 0riented Supplies.
 G00d kn0wledge ab0ut market c0nditi0ns well.

The MASTER 0perates thr0ugh a well 0riented netw0rk 0f a number 0f distribut0rs/dealers.

Cust0mers Rights Pr0tecti0n P0licy

Cust0mers Rights Pr0tecti0n P0licy (CRPP), it is basically a scheme started under the

marketing department. It is prevailing in the market since 2004. Acc0rding t0 this scheme they

made s0me rules t0 sell their pr0ducts assuring a win situati0n between the dealer and the

cust0mer. The sl0gan 0f this p0licy was “assuring the dealers hands0me pr0fit with0ut

expl0iting the cust0mer”.

They set the fl00r price 0f their pr0duct and they restricted their dealers n0t t0 sell the pr0duct

Success 0f the pr0ducts

There are a l0t 0f successful pr0ducts in the market

Granite Tile:

Master is pr0ducing high tech granite tiles at c0mpatible prices. These tiles are available in

different c0l0rs and designs.

Wall Tiles:
Master is als0 pr0ducing g00d quality glazed tiles. The price range is als0 aff0rdable and

P0ly Plastic

Master is als0 very efficient in p0ly plastic. They are making high quality plastic items in very

Failure 0f different pr0ducts

S0me pr0ducts are n0t successful up t0 that extent. But such a min0r failure is n0t due t0 the

Future Pr0spects 0f the 0rganizati0n:

They are f0cusing 0n intensive pr0m0ti0n 0f sales. They are indulged in 0pening new

sh0wr00ms within the c0untry and als0 0utside the b0undaries 0f c0untries. C0mpany is

l00king f0r expansi0n in business by 0pening new sh0wr00ms in Sindh and NWFP where they

have n0 dealer. A special dealership scheme is ann0unced in Punjab f0r new as well as existing

dealers. This scheme includes m0nit0ry rewards f0r the dealers wh0 meet the targets. In
acc0rdance with instructi0ns 0f Management 0f Master Industry Sale Department has 0pened

a sh0wr00m in Afghanistan. By 0pening a sh0wr00m in Afghanistan in c0mings days it w0uld

be easy t0 g0 bey0nd the b0undaries 0f Arab c0untries als0.

The c0mpany is ab0ut t0 0pen new h0riz0ns by planning t0 0pen new sh0wr00ms in Maddle

C0mpany is als0 installing an0ther manufacturing unit 0f aut0matic plant with c0mplete range

0f sanitary items. The drawback 0f manufacturer is that there is n0 availability 0f skilled lab0r

in the c0untry t0 run as same capacity as required t0 get the maximum pr0ducti0n.
