JOINT SEALER

1.0 GENERAL

1.1 SUMMARY

1. Work of this section shall conform to the requirements of the Contract Documents.

2. Sections includes (but is not necessarily limited to : )

a. Interior chalking and sealing.

3. Related Sections: Sealant for the following work shall comply with requirements of
this Sections:

a. Gypsum Board: Section.

4. Related Documents:

a. Client’s Representative Tender Documents: General Conditions


Requirements, including but not necessarily limited to on-site safety,
movement of materials at site, security, payment schedules and other
conditions of the Contract.

1.2 REFERENCES

1. Where there is an existence a relevant British Standard Code of Practice, Draft BS


or DIN standard or BS JIS applicable to this type of work, then the
recommendations of such documents shall be considered a minimum standard for
the work described and shall be complied.

a. Nothing in the above paragraph relieves the Contractor of responsibility for


providing a higher standard than the relevant code or standard where it is
required to comply with other Section of these Specifications.

1.3 SUBMITTALS

1. General:

a) No portion of the work requiring submission of a shop drawings, product


datum, or sample shall be commenced until the submittal has been
reviewed by the Client’s Representative Such portions of the work shall be
in accordance with reviewed submittals.

b) The submittals are in no case to be considered Contract Documents but


area to be treated only as instruments of convenience and facility to further
the progress of the work.

c) Ascertain that submittals meet all requirements of the Contract Documents.


If submittals show variations from Contract Documents. Whether because
of standard manufacturer practice or other reasons, the Contractor
including shall make special mention thereof in the letter of transmittal.

d) Product Data: manufacturer’s specifications, recommendations and


installation instructions including cleaning of joint surfaces for each sealant
material to be use.

e) Samples for Colour Selection (for each product exposed to view):


manufacturer’s standard bead samples consisting of strips of actual
products showing full range of colours available.

1.4 QUALITY ASSURANCE

1. Comply with manufacturer’s printed instructions, except where more stringent


requirements are indicated.

2. Before purchase of each required material, confirm its compatibility with each other
material it will be applied to in joint system as well as itself during and after curing.

1.5 DELIVERY , STORAGE AND HANDLING

1. Deliver materials to project site in original , unopened container or bundles with


labels showing manufacturer, product name and designation, colour, expiration
period for use, pot life, curing time and mixing instructions for multi component
materials.

2. Store and handle materials to prevent heir deterioration or damage due to moisture,
temperature changes, contaminants or other causes.

1.6 PROJECT CONDITIONS

1. Joint dimension conditions do not proceed with proceed with installation of sealers
when joint dimensions are less than or greater than recommended by joint sealer
manufacturer for application for application indicated.

1.7 WARRANTY

1. Repair or replace joint sealers which fail to perform as intended because of leaking,
crumbing, hardening, shrinkage, bleeding, sagging, staining or loss of adhesion.

2. Warranty period : 2 years.
