What is Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP)?

NLP is the study of exceptional talent: how people and companies achieve exceptional results.
These methods cam be taught to other people so that they too can obtain the same kind of results.

This process is called modelling.

NLP is a comprehensive study which started in the mid-seventies when Richard Bandler, a
psychologist, and John Grinder, a linguist, set out to study exceptional communicators, in an
attempt to answer an intriguing question:

What is it that makes a person skilled?

How do some particularly sucessful people do what they do and do it so well?

Since then NLP has developed and has become the systemic study of human communication. NLP
studies how we structure our subjective experience— what we think of our values and beliefs and
how we create our emotional states — how we build our inner world from our inner experience.

Nothing that happens has intrinsic meaning; different people give different meanings to the same
event.

NLP grew by adding tools and practical methods created by modelling truly skilled people. Such
tools are used worldwide in the areas of sports, business, training, sales, law and education.

A practical discipline, NLP supplies both theory and skills. But NLP is more than a collection of
effective techniques: it is a mental standard based on curiosity, discovery and enjoyment.

Nowadays NLP is used and taught all over the world, in business, personal development,
education, sports and therapy.

There are three parts to NLP:

• Neuro: neurology — how people think and feel.

• Linguistic: language — how people understand language and how it affects them.
• Programming: actions — how people act in order to achieve results.
