Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.

Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☐ Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☐ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☒ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☒ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☒ Test preparation

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity

The students will use their devices such as a cell phone or tablet to join the Kahoot game. The Kahoot game
will last about 5-10 minutes depending on how quickly the students answer the question. Students will be
asked questions where they will have to identify the parts of a plant and also know their functions in order to
be successful in the game.

7. I collect sunlight for the plant.

8. I hold the plant up.

9. I hold the plant in the ground.

10. I attract insects to help spread pollen.

Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?

☐ Yes ☒ No
☐ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
☒ Yes
☐ No
Why or why not?
I will have it set up so that the questions when answered will display the correct answer. I want the students
to be able to see right away whether or not they were correct. I don’t want the students to select answers
and move on thinking that it is right when it may not be.
Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?
After the Kahoot! game, I will go over the questions and their answers with them. We will go over each
question and I will clear up any misconceptions that the students may have.

How will the data be used:

I would mostly use Kahoot! as a formative assessment to see what the students remember from the lesson
the day before. I will then see what the common misconceptions were in the game, and use that information
to guide my instruction so that the students all have an understanding of the material.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.
I want the students to be able to use a tool that is fun and not something that they use all the time in the
classroom. I think it will make the students more engaged by using a game-like format. Children learn the
best when they are enjoying what they are doing, so I hope that using Kahoot! will help them retain the

information that I give them a little better.

Reflective Practice:
The students will benefit from this game by testing their knowledge from the previous lesson. They can play
the game at home and try to beat their previous score. The more they play, the more the information will be
retained. The students could use this game repeatedly as a fun review before test time.
