Case: Accenture-Retaining for Itself

QUESTIONS
1. )Identify how some Accenture-type efforts have and have not occurred in
your current and previous workplaces. Also, discuss why focusing on
employee retention pays off for Accenture clients, and not just for
Accenture itself.
Accenture having such a huge workforce has a unique dilemma in terms of how to
deal with space issues for their employees. Part of this is a focus on balancing em
ployees who work out of their home and work out of their offices.
The strategy that Accenture uses is called ‘Strategy for Growth’ in which th
e company has its focus on serving the customers through the strategic hu
man resources division(s) that focus on developing consulting services tha
t will benefit the companies by providing their expertise in human resource
s.

2. Go to the Accenture website, www.accenture .com, to research and


gather job- and career-related information that might need to be adapted
by other employers. As part of this research, examine how Accenture
markets itself to current and potential employees.

Accenture introduced their four growth platform that is Strategy, Digital,


Technology and Operations at any business. After I visited their website I
learned about many things regarding this company. The things mostly took
my attention is “We added technology to strategy. You get the multiplier
effect.” Every business have to follow it in order to success. I believe
technology should be adapted as strategy for multiple benefits by every
organization. I also agree with “Digital isn’t the future of business. It’s the
present of business.” I agree that
we will have many improvements in future and employers should take it
into their mind and improve their business. It markets itself by providing
information about their vision and services in their website and they used
many mission statements to attract employees

Case: Alegent Health Questions


1. Discuss how Alegent’s practices match with the recommended
retention practices covered in the chapter.

Alegent used retention practices to help with their high turnover rate. Some
of the useful methods they used include employee surveys, they evaluated
their turnover rates, and they provided training and shadowing for
employees. Alegent created an Employee Retention Task Force whose focus was
to decrease turnover and increase employee satisfaction. The task force identified
several strategies to be used. .Some activities are: Improved individual
employee performance and motivation. Created organization culture and
value and accessed for work/life balancing.

2. Why was Alegent’s broad-based approach to nursing retention


important?

This approach was very important because without these efforts to


lower turnover rates, the company could have eventually failed.
Because Alegent used such great efforts, this greatly decreased their
turnover rate, employees were more satisfied, and Alegent won many
awards for their efforts.

Case: Inside the Clothing Store


Questions

1. Discuss how the culture of the Clothing Store is fostered by the HR


activities and practice used.

The culture depicts a healthy environment where employees are


given utmost importance. HR plays an important role to make
employees happy and motivated so HR needs to come up with
special programs which will keep them engaged.

2. Compare the culture at your present employer to the culture


suggested by the examples at the Clothing Store. Then identify
recommendations you would make to the executives where you
work.

I am still a student at present. The recommendations I would make


are: providing trainings to workers to enchance their skills,
suggesting employee engagement activities to maintain the friendly
atmosphere of the workplace and respecting privacy of each co-
worker.
