1. Queen Liliuokalani was
born on September 2,
1838 in Honolulu,
Hawaii.
2. Liliuokalani was David
Kalakaua’s sister.
3. In 1891 her brother, King
Kalākaua, died and
Lili‘uokalani succeeded to
the throne and became
the first queen of Hawaii.
4. Queen Liliuokalani was
the last queen, or
monarch, of Hawaii.
5. Queen Liliuokalani’s
signature brooch was a
butterfly that was worn in
her hair.
