Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

When implementing Universal Design for Learning, Quizlet’s settings adapt to all learners. For instance,
students have the option to hear the word and/or definition while they read the cards and complete the
learning options. Teachers can adapt various study sets depending on the students, some study sets may
include images alongside the term or definition for ELL students or approaching students who need visual aid.
Families also have the ability to assist students with studying because It available at home or at school.
Students who are having difficulty may find studying more comfortable because they are in the reassurance
of their home. Out with the old-fashioned index cards, in with the innovative Quizlet.

Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.
The instructional activities prior to the SRT activity involve a Nearpod presentation and BrainPop video. The
teacher will introduce the Moon Phases via BrainPop video before launching the Nearpod presentation. The
teacher should also involve a poll to allow students the ability to rate their comfort with the learning content.
Students should have a satisfactory grasp of the Moon Phases before the teacher includes the Quizlet study
set. If students demonstrate a grasp of the Moon Phases, the teacher will present the study set. The teacher
may highlight the versatility and accessibility of Quizlet, and to ensure that all the students understand the
learning activities available.

Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☐ Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☐ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☒ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☐ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☒ Test preparation
☐ Survey/Poll ☐ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity:

During the SRT activity, the teacher will model through the various options. As the teacher demonstrates
the learning activities, students can answer the questions as a review session. The students’ participation may
indicate the level of the students’ understanding. The teacher may place the students into groups for
answering or hand out whiteboards for individual student response. There are other numerous tools, a
teacher can use while interacting with Quizlet.

Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):

☒ Multiple choice ☐ Multiple select ☒ True/False ☐ Yes/No
☒ Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank ☐ Longer open-ended response
If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):

Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?

☒ Yes ☐ No
☐ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of or all the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
☒ Yes
☐ No
Why or why not?
The immediate corrective feedback allows students to quickly assess what they did wrong or what they
missed. I have discovered that quickly receiving feedback on why I missed a question lessens the probability I
miss the same question again. It also always students the ability to ask for further clarification if they continue
to miss the question or do not understand why they missed it.
Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?
After the SRT activity, the students should have a strong understanding of the learning content and how to
use Quizlet. However, as a final assessment of their knowledge, the teacher will assign students to complete
the test option. Afterwards, the teacher will record those grades, and indicate which questions were most
missed by starring those terms. The teacher will remind students that they have access to the study set for
home use.

How will the data be used?

The data collected would be used for instructional purposes. For instance, if numerous students missed a
particular question, it would indicate to the teacher to review that question’s content. A teacher may need to
approach that content differently depending on the student’s understanding. Also, the data would be used
for the teacher to record each student’s understanding. For instance, if there were a group of students that
performed lower than others, the teacher may take those students aside for extra tutoring. Another example,
could be that all the students demonstrate proficiency or satisfactory results, indicating that the teacher can
move on to another topic. At the end of a quarter or semester, the teacher can review the student’s records

during a student conference to demonstrate growth or needed extra support. Reviewing and documenting
student data is important for teachers, students, and families.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.
My personal experience has indicated that flashcards tremendously helped me memorize and learn various
terms and definitions. When Quizlet first appeared, I learned quickly that it transformed my methods of
studying. So, I hope that students can also benefit from this studying resource. There is an infinite amount of
practice attempts so, students should feel little pressure while studying.
Reflective Practice:
I feel that implementing this SRT activity will develop student understanding and study practice. The
options available engage students with learning the terms and definitions. When students have free time, I
would allow them to use Quizlet and study so there is no time wasted. I could also use it as an introductory
activity before reviewing the content, so the students become familiarized before being assessed. There are
numerous opportunities for students to access their study sets and practice the material. Another method a
teacher could do is allow the students to study, then include another SRT activity as part of the assessment.
